I'm doing the boss fight with the security guard at the top of the Yucatan Casino - how do I beat him? It seems like I'll randomly do 0 damage and none of my weapons hit. I've tried just jump kicking him to death but eventually I'll get hit with a haymaker and lose 6-7 life + more if he decides to shoot me as I'm getting up. Getting really frustrated with this fight as every other boss was difficult but had some trick or was manageable. Any tips?

Depends on how fair you want to have the fight. You can easily make Fire Spitters (toy spitball gun+Tiki torch) in the Yucatan and bring them to the fight. One gun holds 20 shots and that's more than enough to take his health down to less than 50%. Keep popping in and out from behind one of the columns and heal when necessary. It won't take more than a couple of minutes.
If you want to do it the noble way, the front kick (RT+X) is a good way of stunning him while you get some hits on him, but you can't do more than two before his invincibility window kicks in and he starts messing you up again. It's a bit of a war of attrition, so bring a few Pain Killers and the Health 2 magazine (found in Baron Von Brathaus in, you guessed it, the Yucatan) to stay healthy.
I'm at level 47 right now. I'm killing lotsa zombies with combo weapons, have around 6 mags (horror, and survivor bonus') killing psychos and rescuing as many surviors as I can. Yet the PP meter fills incredibly slow.

You'll get to 50 before you know it; there's about 180k between the gaps from 47 to 50 each time and you'll be surprised at how quickly that fills up once you start getting the survivors that are worth tons of points.
PP is definitely the one thing you never have to grind out for in this game.
The biggest time saver in the game is using skateboards in combo with the mag in the hotel. The first shop to your left when leaving the safehouse stocks them and you can ride them just about everywhere. So you should be able to finish all missions with time to spare.
Man, I just can't get over how fuckin awesome this game is. No matter how much I play it, it just doesn't get old.
I can have a blast just doing nothing, like hanging out in a store and throwing everything I can find at the horde. I was trying to build up a posse but I had Chad and his wife and I hit him too much so they both turned, it wasn't pretty. I'm on playthrough 2 but I still haven't bothered with beating the case files, I'm still having fun just going with my own flow
GOTY confirmed. What a fantastic surprise.
my only complaints: 1. framerate occasionally chugs in busy parts. 2. you can't wear a beard and sunglasses at the same time
We need to make a Dead Rising 2 metatag...most of the people on my list dont seem to have the game (unless thats changed in the past few days...havent been able to play).
I'm running around the Silver Strip with a cowboy hat, summer dress and a broad sword and a party of 4 survivors with handguns. We're gonna go slay a psycho.
Okay buying the shit out of this on Steam tonight. 40USD is just too good to pass up. Whats the final verdict on the PC port? Hopefully I'll be able to max this out on a Q6600/GTX460. Does the wireless 360 controller work out of the box yet?

Wireless doesn't work out of the box, but the fix posted on the steam forums takes like ten minutes to do. I have the same CPU but a worse GPU, so you should get some sweet performance out of it.

I had to force myself away from doing nothing to go for missions. I don't mean to oversell it, but it is the ultimate sandbox game in many ways. The game doesn't force you to do anything, if you want you can neglect ALL missions if you want and just explore the mall and kill zombies. There are a shit ton of stores to check out, and so many items to use. There are also a lot of secret areas and special items or vehicles you can find for extra mayhem. Plus, you can easily stumble across a lot of events just exploring. I played through an entire session (72 game hours) and I still haven't seen a lot of the area.
So to answer your question, yes, you can definitely treat it as a sandboxy-type game. I've had as much or more sandbox fun with DR2 as I have had with any GTA game.
The moose head may be one of my favorite weapons. It's pretty strong, the charge forces Chuck to run (so you don't have to deal with those pesky wheelchairs or trash things) and it looks awesome. Any of them located near the safe spot? The only ones I've found are pretty far away.
I hate TIR so much. I spent the whole day literally and I only need to win Stand up Zomedy. I always get 2nd at the last second. Its the only achievement stopping me for the full 1000. I am so pissed.

Dude, I fucken hate this. I mean imagine getting 72,000 kills in single player and then have that one multiplayer achievement you can't get. It bugs me to say the least.
I just watched the GameTrailers video review, and the guy kept raving how much of a better game it was just because they added more save slots, and I just laughed.
Yeah multiplayer achievments blow. This game is no exception. Unfortunate.
But single player is a real blast. So much damn fun.
I still havent even tried co-op yet. Soon hopefully. Havent even had time to finish my first run yet sadly. But ill be doing that later on today hopefully.
(Snuggler, if you or anyone want to add me for co-op my GT is in my profile. I play at odd hours though.)

I played a few rounds of ranked TiR, it was fun but it was impossible to join a co-op match. Kind of disappointing. I still haven't even played co-op yet, but I tried like 5 times to join games only to get no result or get denied by the host.
Bummer.
I guess this just lost the GOTY crown.
no, it threw the crown at a zombie's face then picked it back up and put it back on
Just finished it. S Rank, 26 survivors saved. I'm not nearly as OCD as some of you guys. :lol
I thought that the moment that
the army came to town and got killed
everything got turned up to 11 and I loved it. I really began to feel the urgency and shit was hitting the fan. The
super zombies
actually made the horde somewhat of a threat, too, which was a nice change of pace.
I didn't like Overtime though.
Boring fetch quest with basically no meaning, and a horrible boss fight.
In the end I downloaded a trainer and put on infinite health just so I could see the ending. I was level 26, so I don't know if that's what made it so hard. I never restarted my game so yeah. I got close a few times but it was just too frustrating, similar to the end boss of the first game. I also didn't like the fact
I had collected three LMGs ready for TK and then all my shit got taken away.
Really good game, though. Took a while for it to hook me again but it did.

I also hope they patch that damn co-op save bug soon too. I'm trying to help a friend get the 50-survivor achievement, and we're saving after every run back to the safehouse to be on the safe side. It's a pain having to rejoin every time.
On an unrelated note, am I the only one who finds the Slot Ranch/Shamrock Casino theme incredibly damn catchy? I can't stop listening to it!
Oh nice. The muzak in this game is way too catchy and fun to listen too. Really awesome how each area has it's own unique muzak. Is there an OST for this game?
