Lay the steaks in front of a Column and hide behind it. Then call out to snow flake. It won't always work depending on how snowflake approaches, but there is little risk. You can just run around the column and snowflake won't touch you, or run to a platform. Takes me maybe 5 minutes.
Yeah, I got it eventually (after nearly 2 hours of trying). I thought I had to throw the steak when she roared, but I should've been throwing it just after that.

Pretty annoying when I lost sight of her, too. Though I do get the advantage of increasing FOV in the PC version (which really improves things IMO).

Like an earlier poster said, I wish there was a way to specifically increase zombie density without using a mod that changes other things as well. I'd love to up zombies by 3x and increase weapon durability 3x to compensate (maybe add a few more crowd-clearing weapons near the safe house so travel doesn't take so long). Something that doesn't let me rely on invincible superweapons, but makes the core game put up a little more resistance.

On 12am Day 3 now, I think I've given everything to Katey except the funny painting. I'm at level 20 and fighting
the postman on Mail Order Zombrex
using nothing but boxing gloves :(

Been spending this run testing out weapon combinations (using a guide now as it's getting too difficult to find them on my own) and gathering Katey's gifts for Father of the Year.

I've found that a great way to make easy cash is to keep playing the golfing minigame in Royal Flush. It's cheap, very easy, and pretty much a guaranteed $10,000 payout every time. I don't know if there is a way to increase chances on the slot machines, otherwise I'd imagine those would be the best solution.

Anyone know what to do with the spinning ball minigame on platinum strip? I've tried it four or five times and keep getting spit out immediately. I see a picture on the screen of the left thumbstick and a direction, but when I move the left thumbstick in the direction it indicates, I lose.

You don't ever have to throw it, and indeed throwing it will make her ignore it. People keep parroting this same line, but it is wrong - it has to be on the ground when she is far away from you or nothing happens.

Jump on top of the magazine rack nearby for a Bowie Knife. Run to the Maintenance Room and combine for ultimate win.

Hold the stick in that direction. Not just tap. You also dont win anything, just like 1,000 PP.

Best way to make cash is to grab the 3 gambling books, then do the giant slot machine in Slot Ranch (next to the exit to the Food Court). Just keep pressing Max Bet and you will land wins that outset how many times you will probably lose. (ex. You might lose 10 times, but that 11th might be a 100,000 win.)

Thanks for the tips.

And fuck these day 3 snipers. Gaaahhhhhhhh they're frustrating.

No not really fun. They are gratifying when you successfully save them, but they damage easily, walk right into Zombies, and don't really listen when you call. Not to mention the controls feel more imprecise in the original game, so trying to help them really sucks. DR2 maybe goes to far in the other direction, but atleast they weren't aggravating for all the wrong reasons.

No, I mean fun. Planning and giving weapons to survivors makes it easy to escort them if you use waypoints. The hard part is saving all of them on day 2.

Can you do those PC mods and still get achievements? I'd love 3x density zombie... would make Genocider so easier. lol.
I've modified FOV and it hasn't affected GFWL. I know RE5 mods didn't disable Live, so I'm assuming DR2 mods won't, either. Can't confirm that, though.

On the map you mean? My guess is they made it so you'll get lost easier OR to explore more.

Like in a store, they build it in a certain way so you'll look everywhere before you get to where you were supposed to go.

Na'mean?

Did the recent update fix co-op? And do I have to complete it all in one sitting in order to get the achievement/trophy?

The co-op problem is related to the save being on the hard drive. Move it to an external source and load from there and you can play fine (as host). And you don't have to do it all in one sitting.

* On 360, no idea how PS3 is

Nah. You're just a virgin to Fortune City. By the time you finish you won't need a waypoint. A game like GTA requires waypoints.

Yeah, it's funny how after two full playthroughs that I have the map pretty much down. This third one that I've been procrastinating on has been a breeze.

I haven't played through the story yet, so I've mostly been running around and getting random achievements/leveling up to prepare for my story run. I have Royal Flush, Yucatan, and the Food Court completely down.... everything else, not so much.

Can anyone suggest a place where I can combine a wheelchair and lawnmower pretty easily? Haven't found any close together so far.

Also, one sniper down.

You can find both of them together in the maintenance room that's in the southwest corner of the Platinum Strip.

Finally finished this with an S rank. Overall it was an excellent game. Cannot wait for Case West. Online sucked ass though. Finding a random coop game was a nightmare. Sometimes I had to look for 1 hour to find one game only to get disconnected every single time the host saved (and yes I had the dlc packs). 360 version was much more stable than I expected. It only chugged or slowed down for me in the last day because of the new ''environment''. Loved the combination weapon system. It was awesome to simply to collect the materials to get your favorite combo weapons. There were a lot of them too.

I would have liked that every pieces of clothes you find would get added to your locker instead of only having the option to switching to the rewards outfit and the Case Zero clothes. Coop was fun but game breaking. It's so much easier playing with someone. Having 2 Chucks seemed liked a bit lazy from the devs though. At least in Case West we are gonna get 2 different characters and photography is going to be back. Unlike the first DR, I was never stressed about the time limit. I always had a lot of free time where I would simply run around killing zombies and stashing weapons or collecting money because the next case would not start soon. Blue Castle did a pretty good job. It's a Capcom outsourced game to a western dev that is great.

I think DR1 had a more compelling setting and characters than DR2. The feel and tone was better (not that DR2 is bad for me, DR1 was just better in this aspect), and the mall had more... personality in some ways.

Yeah, this is how I feel.

I've put a hell of a lot of time into DR2 now, and can feel confident in saying that DR2 lacks personality. Chuck is a great character as well as the twins, but none of the others are as interesting. I felt bitter toward the game after I first beat it as I felt the bosses were far too glitchy and annoying, but figured I'd feel better about the game once I successfully grind out the rest of the achievements (I usually get into games more as the difficulty spikes trying for the harder goals). However, I haven't had that moment yet where I've started to get into it, and I'm almost done with everything now.

DR2 is a better game to play. Survivors follow and rarely get caught by zombies or in the environment. Navigation is easier (once you get over the sheer size of Fortune City) and it's just a tighter experience in general. But the first game had a more interesting world and more interesting themes (photography as opposed to combo weapons).

Of course, it's still a great game though. Just not quite as good as the first in my opinion.

I really like all the hidden stuff in DR2. Not just hidden weapons, but the posters you can look at to find combo cards and out of the way Zombrex posters (the poster painting reminds me of an NES Simpsons game) and Zombrex stashes. I don't remember being as eager to look for stuff in DR1. I agree there was something more cohesive about Willamette as opposed to Fortune City. I don't think the casino theme was fleshed out enough, somehow. But I thought navigation was much improved and had a better time minute-to-minute with DR2 (still haven't played through the Case Files yet, only have the bad ending).

So how do I actually get the knight's armour, after having gotten the S ending and restarted the game?

The plate is in the locker. You have to get the other pieces around the mall. Check some faqs.

Also every piece you earn will go to your locker and stay there once you find it. (including the beard.)

I'm not saying I'm not enjoying DR2, because I am...But a few very minor touches would have made Dead Rising 2 WAY more enjoyable. The first of which is the load times. The second is, full voice overs. These clunky text conversations in which you keep having to talk to NPCs while fighting off zombies absolutely suck.

Which method are you using?
The slicecycle + magazine one?

Best method is SUV. Do story missions in-between so you get some extra time for the end (compared to the cut-off if you don't).

I just made a beeline for the magazine in Americana and went for the SUV, cases and Katey be damned. I just reset the area every 1500-2000 kills by going into the Yucatan, and got 72000 at around 4:00 AM on the last day.

They also waste time, which is an important resource in DR2. Which I'm ok with. Also I'm surprised that some of the psychos actually attack survivors now. I dont remember any of them other than the prisoners doing it in 1.

1. Get it on PC. Quick loading.
2. Press Y a lot. They don't have anything worth reading.

Too risky, imo. Better to be safe. I just got 72000 during Case 6-2.

They should only attack if they're in the way. Send them in a corner and they will focus on you instead.

I'm not so sure about this, but I haven't investigated it beyond 5000 kills. But I found the trailbike + chainsaw in the underground tunnels was giving me almost 3 times as many kills in the same amount of time. Maybe because it was during the
gas zombie part?

Several of them like the groom and the magicians went out of their way to attack my guys. For the groom battle I actually had to send them outside and across the street before the boss would stop attacking them.

You wont hit 72000, consideirng underground doesnt open up until Case 3. SUV is the best. If you feel comfortable you can use slicycle in Fortune Park area, but you fall at the slightest tap. So SUV.

Are you supposed to keep keys when you start over? I finished the game in co-op and when we started over, my friend, who was the host, still had all but the underground key. But when I started over on my own, with the same save file, I didn't have anything.

The only keys that are kept in your inventory are those for vehicles (outta luck if the host picked up the tab) and you'll have to play through the game to acquire keys for the underground etc.

ARGH. I'm at the tail-end of my second playthrough, in which I attempt to save everyone after finishing the first time out with 49 survivors. Problem: The four survivors in
Tape It Or Die 2
absolutely will not spawn for me. I missed them entirely on my first playthrough, used a survivor timeline on the second to get everybody, and even though I
brought the cement saw and plates and got the combo card from the first secret mission, the radio call for them isn't triggering on Day 4. I wound up playing through the entire day, running back to Pallisades after every case, and no show. Saved the army guys, still nothing.

Debating reloading a save from the start of the day and seeing if they spawn this time; otherwise I'm probably taking an extended break before launching a third playthrough since it'll require doing the case files again just to get them. Plus, the only thing I have left to win in TiR is Ball Buster, and I just suck at aiming so that's unlikely to happen any time soon.

Okay. Need help case 6-4. Pc version
I saved at this point with 18 min of game clock to finish this case. I was prompted to save and figured i'd have a lot of time for the next case. I don't have time to get all three parts, I always fail when I'm about 5 steps away :-(. Anyway for me to salvage this? Ask someone to co op with me so we can split up? I don't want to restart when I'm near the end, but I will if I have to...

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Am I doing it wrong by constantly hoofing all the way back to the Safe House every time?
Are there any shortcuts anywhere I'm missing?

Also, is there a way to set the Guide Arrow? I can't seem to find an easy way to do it w/o selecting a mission. It sucks when I want to bring back survivors and have to keep checking the map on how to get back to the Safe House.

Also, does the bike always restart at the top of the Silver Strip? It's far to keep walking to everytime I want to ride it. Wish it stayed put or you could call it.

Otherwise, havin a blast!
