Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

Any more PC version impressions?

I signed up for another month of Gamefly yesterday for the sole purpose of avoiding buying DR2, but my weak will is getting the better of me.
I have put 3-4 hours in and so far I see nothing wrong with it. Runs and looks great.

Well, I can't get my controller to work with the pc version. So I guess I'll have to wait until they fix this bullshit.
Works fine for my wired 360 one, just remember to press start on the controller when the game says start

Err, how long does it take to verify a games release date on GFWL? I started the game up and it's just sitting there saying it needs to verify for like 5 minutes. Shouldn't that only take a second?

I would really like to know how they were able to unlock it last night. Great surprise, but I've never seen it happen.

I noticed there are survivors I don't get info about, I've randomly found some of them while completing missions, I kinda don't like this :/

fucking great game, really a GOTY contender for me, it's been some time since I had this much fun playing a videogame.

Does the retail PC version of this exist anywhere in North America yet? I'm holding out for that. All the stores I've checked with seemed convinced it was canceled.

it was in the system in gamestop for pre-order last week, which was weird beacuse it dropped out of it months ago and not long ago showed back up.

so i'm thinking it does exist.

I have probably about 200 of the large format ones just lying around that I am infuriatingly not allowed to sell or distribute. :(

Wait, you can't give them away? What the hell did they expect you to do with 200 posters?

Fucking christ! I downloaded Dead Rising 2 off steam and it won't bloody verify on GFWL. It doesn't say it's not out or it's verified or anything, it just sits there. I hate Microsoft.

My guess is that Olly had them printed in anticipation of being allowed to sell them on his site (or on Mondo or something) only to have them refuse him that right. Sucks big time.

Don't forget, it's his art, but they commission it and they usually have distribution rights. It's why he can't just print up his older works that people want and sell them off.

There are patches to get round it.

Ok, I am this close to rage quiting this game over a psycho :lol
Who ever designed the Chef Antoine battle .... For fuck sakes I am using the lightsaber, I have a long range weapon and I am using the Defiler and he still wont go down. Why is he so strong and why can he freaking heal himself ... Is there a trick to cheese him?

I have a question about creating weapons/items.

In Case Zero, there didn't seem to be any way of figuring out if two items could be combined other than trying them on the bench. This can get pretty damn annoying, as your inventory is so small and you can only really bring back 1-2 items from the field that are useless unless combined.

Is this different in the full game? Can you find "cards" around that explain recipes?

There are a few hidden ones that you get by looking at posters. You can also see various combined weapons in the pawn shops that you may not have the card for yet. Other than that it's wait for the card to unlock or figure it out yourself.

Stock up healing items and kill him before he kills you.

Is Chucks movement speeding up with leveling up or is it just his running speed. I'm getting a headache from this slowness.

There are 3 running speed upgrades that get randomly (?) given to you as you level up.

I only got 2 of the motorcycle parts in Case Zero at this point, and I don't think I ever had a card unlock unless I just guessed at what to combine. Are there other ways cards unlock?

PM me your address please. They didn't say they couldn't be stolen did they?

Can somebody give some thoughts on the 2 player online co-op? I'm thinking about getting this on Steam but it'd only be to play with a friend.

So I just played Terror is Reality for a few hours. Not bad at all.
What is everyones favorite minigame? Mine is probably Ramsterball. Pounds of flesh is fun too.

I am so god damn surprised that the PC port of this game is decent. Apart from the terrible upscaled FMV cutscenes, and a slight weirdness to camera controls, the game runs great at max settings while playing coop. Even the GFW aspects of it manage to stay relatively hidden.

I really wasn't expecting much from DR2, even though I loved the first. But this may end up being my favourite game of the year, even over Mass Effect 2 and Heavy Rain.

Oh, and mouse + guns = win. So much easier aiming with a mouse compared to the terrible DR1 aiming, and the slightly tolerable aiming in DR2 Case Zero.

Is their a fix for the co-op disconnect glitch in the Xbox 360 version? Every time I save me or my partner get booted, every time.

Can I really not view my friends list or even view the DLC menu because I'm a silver live member now? wow, that's worse than even 360 live.

Good advice, made his death scene even more satisfying :lol

Ok, that must have been freaking painful. Boiling your face off like that. Some of psycho deaths are pretty brutal.

Does anyone else have an issue with the PC version's volume? It seems so low, I had to really turn up my speakers to hear the dialogue.

Yes. I thought the dialogue and music seemed quiet while the sound effects seemed like they were playing at the intended volume.

This game is massive. There's no way I'm going to see even half of it on my first playthrough trying to complete case files and side missions. The original Dead Rising was the first good game on 360, which I loved, and this is much less frustrating.

I don't hate boss battles any less than I did before. Fuck psychopath fights. They suck. I like the idea of not just fighting zombies for the entire game, but the psychopath fights are and have been poorly done in both games. A tiny window of opportunity for attacks (and still getting counter attacked unless you happen to be packing a fast attack weapon), or in the case of the
dirtbike
dude, no window at all unless you can run like the wind and get close to him while he's taunting. He completely fucked up my survivor escorts. Load times are also a bummer too.

I miss the clown though, best fight ever.

He's got quite a big attack window after he does his donut. You can also stun him by letting him crash into something.

Alright, two assholes have defected on me now

How do I free survivors from zombie grips without harming them?

I usually jump at them IIRC.

You can either keep a gun around and use aim mode (way, way better than DR1's), or you can just use your fists instead of a weapon with area damage.

So I can't log into GFW Live. IT lets me log into their marketplace application just fine, but not through Dead Rising. It won't download my profile.
