Does anyone know if Iron Banner kills/assists count toward the 10,000 points needed for the "Darkness-infused Pulse Rifle" portion of the Bad Juju exotic bounty?

How many AFKers will we get in the weeklies now? Can I now AFK my way to my weekly 27 strange coins?
I can't wait to find out!
Sometimes I do the weekly shortly after the Nightfalll if our group isn't burnt out on doing the same strike again. Lately I haven't even been getting around to doing the weekly on both of my characters and I play this game constantly. Weekly is at the bottom of the priority list. I'll probably do them more with matchmaking.

I like soloing some of them too, but oh well. Ghaleon made a good point that someone can troll you if they're alive and just don't revive the other two players and die on purpose, and suggested it just have a longer res timer than normal strikes. I think that's a good idea.

Omg I finally solo'd Crota! What a rush. Old news around these parts, of course, but man it feels good.

Previous attempts were hampered by stupid swordbearer dickery but everything finally aligned.

Holy fuck he's selling erotic chest engram.

Bought two exotic engrams, hoping for the Praxic.... 1st chest - Alpha Lupi, 2nd chest- Praxic!!!

Wrecked a few people in IB with the super cooldowns, it's so much fun!!!

Ran my first Crota hard today(at Crota CP) with my Hunter, not a single weapon. Running again with my 31 Titan now, fingers crossed for WoC...

Took me forever to get my first WoC (finally on Wednesday, actually). After you get your first, they drop like hot-cakes. Got another one yesterday, lol.

Hopeful I can get a Praxic in a few hours as well when I test my luck.

The forced Matchmaking for Weeklies really bugs me. This is typical of Destiny-era Bungie. Try to fix or improve something, but do so in a way that actually removes or hurts how others want to play. Even if the way you want to play isn't cheesing or hacking or whatever.

The Weeklies getting matchmaking is great for a lot of players. I've had to help a lot of players out that don't know about DestinyLFG.net.com. But why isn't matchmaking optional? My buddy and I love running the Weekly and Nightfall together. I really enjoying soloing the Weekly too. Nope!

Remember when Bungie re-balanced strikes to make them easier for groups? And then wound up making them tougher to solo? Bungie said that wasn't great and they were working on how to support the solo player after all. Well, good news! They fixed solo balancing by removing soloing as an option.

Is Bungie happy with this solution? At least last time they admitted that the strike re-balance wasn't ideal.

There are three ways I can see it: 1) Bungie doesn't care that it's changes hurt how some players want to play the game or 2) Bungie is so overwhelmed by the changes and with the new content they have to make that they can't get the engineering/QA to actually do it right or 3) Destiny is so hamstrung by last-generation that it's not actually possible to make matchmaking optional.

These kinds of things keep happening. One step forward. One step back. I started this week skipping the Nightfall, but I'm ending it wondering how much more I want to play at all. There's no uproar here or in the subreddit over this. I may be the only one complaining, but this is Another NITC for me. I was such a believer in this game, especially through it's troubled start. I wanted to believe.
You're not the only one: I pretty much said the same things as you did yesterday when the update released.
I'm used to doing the first nightfall and the first weekly each Tuesday with my girlfriend. Some times one of you guys from my list join in on the fun and I'm fine with it, but the thought of having to now do it with a random every time is a bit "meh" to me. It was a couple thing for us, something we did just the two of us, taking our time and doing it at our own rhythm. I also love to solo at least one nf and one weekly each week...
I'll see how it turns out, but there's a good chance my girlfriend, who is starting to get a bit burnt on the lack of content, will now skip the weekly. I understand they probably didn't have the resources to make it an option, but that leaves me quite disappointed. Once again they patch in something players didn't ask for: every time I've seen this subject come around, people wanted it to be an option.
Oh well...

Update to the Destiny kid having his characters deleted

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...s-a-harsh-lesson-in-using-ps4-share-play.aspx

Update: The young gamer pictured in the heartbreaking video below is named Henry, a fifth-grade Destiny fan whose progress was wiped out by a stranger on the internet. He and his mother reached out to us to share some thoughts about the experience.

Henry's mother tells us that one of the members of the young man's clan invited KirmitTHEfrog and another person into a party. They played together for a while, and it was after earning his trust on February 13, that the events of the video below unfolded.

"As you can see in the video, Henry was devastated, so since the piece was recorded, I uploaded it to my YouTube account since it’s the adult account associated with his PS4 account – Henry is in 5th grade," his mother, Courtney Kramer tells us. "The only reason I uploaded it to YouTube was to have a place to host it so I could share the link with the Bungie Help forum in the hopes they would review and restore his characters. We never expected anyone but Bungie to see it. Then Bungie posted it to their weekly newsletter on Wednesday, and the Internet exploded."

Unfortunately, Henry has suffered a backlash for his naiveté, drawing insults. His mother has been accused of being a bad parent for allowing him to play.

Thankfully, members of the community have stepped up to offer support. The Dads of Destiny clan has reached out to Bungie to request assistance for Henry. Others have stepped in to help him level faster.

"Hay (sic) guys my name is actually Henry, I am currently 11 years old and just got a ps4 for Christmas I legitamitly (sic) ranked up my warlock to level 31, some of you are haters but some of you are supporting me, I accept both," Henry wrote in a comment posted to the video below. i indeed was trying to cheat but he convinced me into doing it right before the video started, he currently has a YouTube and does this everyday... I accept the fact that I got 'rekt' not so many people are supporting me so I kind of feel discouraged do (sic) can you please leave out the hurtful comments I tried to cheat yea I deserve it, but it doesn't mean you have to say mean things about me... Thank you for your time."

As you can see at the end of the video, Henry boldly confronts his malefactors immediately after the incident. He doesn't resort to foul language. He treats them with civility. His mother tells us that this is a valuable lesson for Henry and others.

"I think this is a great opportunity to reiterate to the gaming community about the importance of not trusting anyone online, even if you think they are your friends," Kramer says. "Protect your hard work by being cautious. As Henry’s parents, we are constantly reminding him of this, to be careful, never share your personal information, always be on the lookout. But the truth is, no matter how many times a parent says this to a kid, when you’re in the actual situation, it’s easier to trust people you think are your friends because someone you actually know in real life vouches for them."

On a personal note, as the father of a ten-year-old and a six-year-old (who absolutely loves watching me play Destiny), I hope that those who would consider reaching out to insult Henry and his family reconsider. We didn't share this video to ridicule, but to show the potential dangers of using Share Play with strangers.

Hopefully, Bungie is able to make an exception and assist Henry. And for those who might be interested in helping him recover his progress through play, his PSN ID is in the video below.

Holy fuck, my blood was actually boiling reading that thread. What a bunch of fucking cunts.

Youtube comment section is just as bad. These d-bags telling the kid he got what he deserved (he's 11) and that it was a lesson to be learned (STFU, it's a video game, not everything has to be some teachable moment).

I'd be a lot harsher and tell you what I really think of people like that but it'd probably get me banned from GAF. I'll just say that this world is made of of the "haves" and the "have-nots."

people bitching at the kid/mother can't empathize or they don't know the full story. of course, people think they know it all sometimes.

DeeJ basically said they can't...

And Xûr is random. There are so many opportunities for Bungie to gain so much goodwill, and yet they fuck up everytime. It's not them being clumsy, they're just being incredibly stupid when it comes to interaction with the players. Smh.

I don't think Bungie can help this kid Henry. That was the main point of Deej putting it in the weekly update so fast. They were saying "be careful out there if this happens then your toons are gone and we can't help you."

I do hope Bungie puts in some system that makes it harder to delete your characters and your precious loot.

But in this case even if Bungie technically "can" help this kid Henry somehow by going through some crazy procedure... they still technically "can't" help Henry.

It's simple. They don't have a system to do solo and matchmaking. It is an either/or type of thing. They don't have resources to develop a system to accomodate both.
hell yeah it is! Matchmaking? Y/N -> start the mission/strike or fireteam-search. it's not like they'd have to reinvent the wheel.

I really enjoying soloing the Weekly too. Nope!
You're not the only one.
I've been championing opt-out matchmaking since the game released.

Decided to just try my luck with engrams. Only 4 since I want 100+ motes for re-rolling if anything good drops from IB. Fourth Engram (tight butthole) Heart of Praxic Fire :]

The only exotic I'm missing is the Hunter Spider Helmet, but honestly who wants that thing?

Not looking forward to rearranging all of my character inventories to stuff it with heavy ammo. Somehow I have to fit at least 200 heavies somewhere.

I think it has to do primarily with driving a healthy population into the playlists. The lack of matchmaking for certain activities (daily heroic's, story missions), lack of custom Crucible modes, etc. work to funnel players into the playlists and public spaces. Low populations for certain playlists was something Bungie was plagued with during the Halo years, where hardcore factions of their playerbase would want a certain mode, Bungie would add it, and then it sucked because matchmaking took forever and put together suboptimal grouping of players. They are trying to avoid that with Destiny. I think it's working - matchmaking times are fast and connections generally good.

A relatively small chunk of the Destiny playerbase is running weekly Heroics. Adding matchmaking will probably increase that number quite a bit, but it's still probably small enough that they don't want to split players off into solo/custom sessions, at the expense of the playlist. That would help ensure that those people who just gained access to the weekly strikes via the playlist have less than awesome experience in it, which might discourage them from playing it...and it's a death spiral for the playlist. (Again, this happened during the Halo era repeatedly.)

So, it's all or nothing with the matchmaking. Ultimately it will be for the betterment of the game, but there's certainly a healthy downside with the lack of custom options.

It's worrying that there isn't a back up of our hard-earned loot and everything can vanish in second. I would love to pay 5 dollars a month for more updates, security and better management from Bungie. In fact, I think they should have some kind of 2-step authentication for Destiny 2
