PSN appears to be having some issues with it. Quite a few people are getting sub-optimal download rates.

This is the pre-download. TTK stuff is already out there.
Holy shit, I'm well screwed. That's nearly a fifth of my monthly quota right there.
Might just hold off until I can get Taken King on disc. Thanks for the info guys.

I believe there wont be a disc version. Youll just get the vanilla game plus DLC codes. I could be wrong tho.
There is no on-disk. Every Destiny player needs to install this, it comes as a patch.
2.0? No, besides the quests structure and some added flavourtext in the quest menu. New story stuff drops with TTK.

Ugh, the Xbox servers pushing out this patch must be getting absolutely slammed right now. I was moving at a pretty good clip until about 50% and then it's slowed to an absolute crawl. Hopefully it'll get better here soon, I was planning on rolling a hunter tonight to see the game from the beginning.

So totally jumping back on with this and The Taken King. My update is nowhere near done but I'm pretty excited to jump back in and actually get to play catch up on my character's levels without diddling with light.
And probably never going to happen.
Wait, so even if I buy this:
...I'm still going to have to download a 17gb patch? Does that patch include the Taken King content, or will that be an additional patch down the line?
Could they seriously not have put some of that on the bloody disc? Or, y'know, just put a second disc in the box if not?

Noticed a few odd things.
The Stranger's Rifle, Murmur, and Vestian Dynasty now require 25 Legendary Marks to upgrade to max Year 1 attack values. Everything else still requires etheric light or exotic shards.
Also noticed that Necrochasm's blueprint has the weapon at 172 attack (all nodes completed). Vex Mythoclast's blueprint has the weapon at 162 attack (no codes completed) and only has a magazine of 3 (same as Queenbreaker's Bow blueprint).

Would this be a good time to finally get into the game, ive been looking for something new to play on my PS4 and i have no idea about destiny other then small videos i've come across and news on the taken king, will it consume my life or should i skip and wait for battlefront. Thanks Gaf Fam.
Everyone runs the same client with all the content. You'll be locked out of certain activities/parts/loot of the game if you didnt buy the expansion(s). Its pretty much how most online RPGish games work.

The price for the taken king still sickens me 
£40 for it on it's own or £37 (cheapest I can find for it here) on disc with Destiny, Expansion 1 and 2 and TTK
But I don't need those so it still feels like a waste

I picked up Destiny when I got my PS4 in July. I'm only level 11 and still pre ordered the Legendary Edition. Eventually I make it to max level.
I play it after work for a little bit before I go to sleep. So far it hasn't consumed my life. Give it a shot.
OK, so just the one 17gb patch then.
Still would've been nice if they'd put that on the actual disc. That's why I buy discs in the first place. We don't all have access to futuristic big-city internet.

So what will year one legendaries dismantle into? I was saving them for marks but didn't know it's only the new weapons that give them.

As a newcomer to Destiny who was completely confused with how leveling up worked despite a lot of explaining from people, this update is a godsend. I still don't understand why they had to make the game so confusing initially. Enjoying it a lot more however I have a question: how do I turn my crucible marks and vanguard marks into legendary marks?

Isn't it just a vanilla destiny disc with TTK and Expansion 1&2 Codes? cause if so renting won't work.

See the II emblem on the top right corner of the item window? That indicates it was from the 2nd expansion, House of Wolves.
While I'm happy that there have been some significantly well needed changes that have been done, I'm still just kind of disgusted that Playstation still gets exclusive content.
I mean UGH a year, an entire year before I as an Xbox owner can actually play any of the extra content, I know that Xbox is guilty of timeguarding dlc but come on, a year??? The content isn't even relevant at that point.

Somehow I got the entire thing downloaded and installed in three and a half hours! Yay my (touch wood) ongoing good luck with PSN!
Only had a quick look around the tower and a bit of Earth before deciding I really need to sleep, since it's almost 2am here in the UK, but I'm pretty pleased with the improvements so far. Looking forward to getting stuck in with the sneak peaks and general alternations tomorrow!

Yea it's obnoxious, but at least the exclusive strikes are getting remixed versions to make them more relevant.
