Enjoyed HR when I played it last summer. Have never played the first two.

Really looking forward to this game next week. Hoping I can remember the important aspects of the story that carry over. Curious how it will continue after I
picked to blow up the place
at the end of the last game.

The deus ex youtube channel put up a recap of the first game if you want to get the important bits refreshed it's about 13 minutes total

I'm even more confused.

lol

Serious answer, it's a FPS RPG that can be played how you want since the game gives you all the tools to play it as such, be it as a stealth player or all out shooter. The maps give you multiple ways to explore and complete objectives and on the RPG side of things you've got the main story and side missions to keep you busy while interacting with NPCs gives dialog options. There's tons of lore in the game from eBooks to pocket books and peoples computers since you can explore some of the city hubs. You can hack doors and computers with a nice little mini-game.

Again being a FPS RPG there are upgrades and talents you can obtain given you're an Augmented human being and your inventory does take some management because it's like inventory Tetris. Items take up slots and you can move them around or upgrade to make more room.

If you've never played Human Revolution, the previous title, then don't fret: The game offers a detailed recap video that brings you up to speed nicely.

Can you make the inventory management automatic like in Directors cut of HR? I don't know if the bon DC version had that.

I don't have the new one.. so I can't answer that. I just assumed there would be inventory management aspects. I'm one of the weird people who turned off auto-inventory management in HR.

My main gripe with HR was how there wasn't any unique loot or guns. It kinda made exploring less engaging than it ought to be (Fallout: New Vegas is king in this regard). Anyone know if this has been improved?

That mode is supposed to delete your save too when you die. Not sure how they restrict cloud saves or backups. lol

I don't think so. They've gone a little deeper with weapon customization for ammo types and such you can change on the fly but thats all I know. The Day One edition I think gives you some stuff plus there's an Outfits option in the menu that lets you change Jensen's coat and armor.

FYI in Human Revolution's DLC they did add in one unique weapon you could find that was different than the standard issue .

I hope I can change the controls on the console version... I really hated the way they made the control so damn weird for all the movements, crouching, interactions...

While it's be cool, the series has never been about that though. It's always been about players choices in level design using augmented abilities to get around them.

Perhaps they could have side quests like in the missing link where you find spare parts then bring it to the vendor for a customised gun.

They offer you a variety when you start a new game: Mankind Divided scheme, Human Revolution, FPS Shooter scheme and I think a custom one but I may be wrong on that last part.

some impressions from the ps4 version (first 90 minutes), no spoilers, mostly tech stuff.

- during the tutorial mission, framerate is solid. no stutter or dips like in human revolution.
- during the real opening (the station in prague), the game has massive framerate and tearing issues. the scene is not really interactive (you can look around), but it is noticable.
- the sharpening filter is a bit over the top. a shame that there are no options to tweak ca/sharpening.
- i finished hr 3 times but i still feel overwhelmed with the story elements.
- facial animations look really janky. jensen looks almost like his cg model in the human revolution trailers, but moves like a ps2 character.
- most cutscenes are pre-rendered videos with ingame assets/models. sadly, they are compressed like a bad youtube video and as a result, look really blurry and muddy.
- overall, game looks pretty good.
- the first hub also seems to run well, some minor dips. still a huge improvement over hr on console.

How's the framerate ?

It's just for people who want that challenge. If you are going to backup your save and all then you might as well play on Give me Deus ex as that's the same thing but without the save wiping.

Hopefully it's not tied to the plat. Sounds like a hassle.

The suppressed sniper rifle was littered about. The double barrel shotgun was on your person from the start of you had the pack.

Both guns were shit. Infect the pistol was the best gun in the game due to the armor piercing attachment. Instead of doing 25 or 50% of the guns damage against enemies you did 100% so in the end the pistol could one shot all but the juggernaut dudes in the head. The sniper rifles could do the same but they were bigger, one wasn't suppressed, and ammo was rarer.

Pistol for fighting, stun gun for enemies/mini robots/cameras, and emp grenades for one shorting the box robots or whatever they were called. That's the best load out. I know this is a tangent but holy crap were weapons balanced poorly in HR.

What is breach mode btw?

It is a separate game where you play as the digital avatar of a hacker proceeding through cyberspace levels using the stealth, shooting, and hacking mechanics of Mankind Divided with a new character. You earn unlocks that mirror singleplayer augments, weapons, and more.

Basically an interesting diversion from the main game to fuck around in without worrying about messing up your playthrough.

Edit: Here is a trailer.

I never found a suppressed sniper rifle after the initial one I got...the only ones I found were the high calibre ones that couldn't be suppressed. Weird.

I didn't know this was a thing. That's a neat diversion.

Did you have the preorder dlc? I bought those packs in steam and it converted the drug dealer storage unit by the basketball court to having the suppressed sniper rifle.

I know what you mean but the closest we had in the main game was the pre order stuff. Unique weapons are cool and I would hope there is a few.

Oh wow, that's super cool. I haven't been paying attention to the marketing or whatever for this game, since I knew from the get-go I wanted it, but finding out stuff like this is included is nice.

a 9!?

That's really good. I kinda suspected some might think this is a difficult second album that doesn't quite hit the spot. Ugh why can't i get my key early and Steam glitch and let me play :p

Watched the story recap video, I forgot how much of a clusterfuck the game becomes. I now remember I was like yeeeah this has officially gone off the rails when the story went into "AND THEN THE ILLUMINATI--" without missing a beat.

Any hopes that this game is gonna tone down on the crazy a bit? No spoilers of course, just wanted to see if there were any dev statements saying as much.

Yeah. Edge liked Human Revolution enough to the point they awarded Eidos Montreal the best studio award for 2011.

The Illuminati IS Deus Ex though....lol....at least thats what I was told. I say that as someone who hasn't played the original is all and somebody in this thread told me those exact words.

Unlikely. The illuminati are the central villains of the entire series and play a big role in the original game too.
