Btw, I'm not sure if this was posted. It's from the longer DF video which was taken down temporary.

Seems to be doing more than just simple sharpening. I want to see more!

Nice that unpatched GT7 basically locks at 120fps even on replays in perf mode. Too bad they don't mention anything about VR2.
Sad that probably pd will remove it forcing in quality mode rt :messenger_grinning_squinting:
About results, 30% is very underwhelming, hope in boost mode not all potential is used. Pssr in 864p is rather letdown but it was almost certain that internal res below 1080p is too low.

Can't wait for PSSR ML to mature more. Maybe it will take one more year to finally see its full potential once the PSSR ML begins to learn more and receive more updates. Can't wait for GTA6 and Monster hunter Wild and even Wolverine for next year. Hopefully I get my ps5 pro next year if I get an extra budget.

It all depends game to game. The sooner the pro get into the hand of the people the better. DF cant test all these 70 games. Most improvement will be substantially and a few will be less noticeable.

Stellar Blade looks superb and better than the native 4k version and running at 80fps. dragon dogma also fall into this category beside the issue with RT when swinging. dragon Age look substantially sharper but issue with flickering? We need to see longer video on this.

Conclusion from DF:
John: Cons: It's a pricey console that should come with a disk drive. Pros: Nice improvement, fix a lot of problem, great for enthusiast.
Oliver: Cons: Not every games take advantage of it just yet (Alan Wake, Dragon Dogma, Dragon Age). Pros: RT and PSSR feel next gen, better jump that PS4 Pro was to PS4
Rich: Worry about future hardware price but acknowledge that while you pay more, this time, you clearly get more.
All that's important to hear.
Basically, it's a worthwhile upgrade for enthusiast buying a Pro.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Can't watch right now, please tell they they didn't use Bloodborne to test the PS4 Image Enhance?

Basically this era entirely about CPU bottleneck and minimal graphical difference.

I wonder how developer were able to optimize games for PS4, where the graphic difference minimal but when they got PS5 still struggling to find the right balance.

FSR, DLSS and PSSR, and massive TFLOPS has made developer lazy and don't care about optimization.
Not that minimal when pssr is used correctly, also dont forget fps improvements. Do t know how some people miss obvious things when they just look at 1000px image with zoomed in trees side by side

Boost mode on unpatched games seems limited by the memory bandwidth increase.
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting things to change.

Cerny made the same exact error with the ps4 pro and now he’s seeing the same results with the same approach. So dumb.

The Pro offers a lot of extra features while at the same time hinting at the make-up of future console architectures. The idea of using more silicon for more GPU performance will never go away, but the rough doubling of GPU power moving from PS4 to PS4 Pro to PS5 simply isn't an option for console manufacturers any more. Instead, expect to see machine learning make up the difference, working in tandem with fixed function hardware - improved RT support, for example. Based on the titles we've played so far with Pro support, that combination works well, and thus far, I do think that PS5 Pro does a much better job in enhancing current generation games than PS4 Pro did back in 2016.

But with that said, the price point is very high - that cannot be ignored. And the question is really whether the upgrade is right for you. In its marketing, Sony has laid out how the new console can improve existing games, but it's also gone out of its way not to say that there's actually anything wrong with the standard model. Quite right too. The truth is, the standard PS5 is still the best choice for most people - but for the core enthusiast looking for the best possible experience, the Pro option is there for you, albeit with a substantial premium.

Hence the ML. It's not a machine for boost mode but for the next 3 years of games (and a few old hits).

What I understood from 4 pages of discussion and a video...

1) There will still be no stable FPS
2) Works on average 25-30% better, but not always
3) The picture looks sharper
4) It will not cure the problem of the lack of desire to optimize games from developers
5) But they will ask you for 800 USD for this

Honestly, I think you can forget about 60 FPS in GTA right away, in the best case it will be a mode 60 in 1080p, judging by everything. As expected, poorly written games continue to work poorly, so those who hope that Monster Hunter will work better, yes it will, but it will be clumsy just like PC now (And this is if you are lucky and they will finish at least something before the release, although after DD2 there is no special faith in this).

For now I see it purely as a device for enthusiasts, a very controversial update, for a very high price considering the fact that there are already problems in games that came out a year ago (Although this is of course the fault of the developers). But in general, the history of the PC is most likely repeating itself here, yes, new hardware came out, yes, it is more powerful, but the developers do not want to optimize the games.

To be honest, I no longer see how to fix the current situation, unless we directly oblige the developers to adhere to certain performance standards. Let's say if they wrote 60 fps, 1080 fps, please give it, if not, the game is removed from sale. But the howl will be terrible, so this will never happen =)

Neogaf in shambles right now, after months saying PS4 Pro was much more needed than PS5 Pro lmao.

The way people undermine AI when it's literally the begining of something huge. Much more important than a console that could give you 4k native output (and in most cases it couldn't...speaking of the PS4 Pro)

IMO RT worthless and AMD has done right not invest much in RT and this is my personal point of view that in sometime RT will be treated same Nvidia PhysicX in games as it does not bring much to table except massive performance hit.
This is the only point that I disagree with you about, but the rest is spot on. I feel as though RT is definitely a transformative feature set to have in your game, especially when implemented well. Games like Control, Cyberpunk, Outlaws, and Alan Wake 2 benefit greatly from ray tracing and almost look bare or incomplete without it. AMD just aren’t nearly as good at it as Nvidia are, currently.

Once consoles are a lot more RT capable, it’ll be even more adopted and utilized in future games.

thats quite an improvement.
Hopfully theres actual PRO patch.
That is plain shitty imo

I can run Elden ring on a 4070 locked 60fps easily with the same settings (some even higher because pc has higher setting). Hell i can run elden ring at 40fps on s steam deck

Also as expected the ps5pro is totally unbalanced and games such as BG3 are barely improved. Again runs over 80-90fps on my mid range cpu

Possibly the 5060 will be more powerful and cheaper than the PS5 Pro
With 8GB.

Those are unpatched games.

DF quote from there Ps5 pro review:

"There's a general rule of thumb in this launch period: Sony's use of PSSR is generally excellent across all supported games, while partner studios are also delivering excellent results. Stellar Blade's PSSR implementation is simply fantastic with game-changing image quality up against the standard PS5 version. The same can be said for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which we've already covered. Our preview looked at just one gameplay segment, but the quality boost extends across the whole game."

This two are my favorite games and I'm happy with the big improvement with ps5 pro. Looks like we can really see the power of ps5 pro, obviously, with Sony's 1st, 2nd party and there exclusives and time exclusives.

Damn, too late. Only got to see the Boost Mode video, in which Rich stare right after John said DMC5 on Pro is the best way to play the game legit unsettled me.

Cared the most about Resident Evil games Res + RT, but guess I'll see for myself tomorrow.
Good to know Silent Hill 2 simply running unpatched solved any framerate problem in both modes, and entirely got rid of those few stutter issues present in the console version. Bodes really well for the upcoming patch.
