Do you think there will be a portable version of Persona 5 at some point?

Vita means life

I hope so tho, I don't really like Persona as a home console experience. Both P3P and P4G felt perfectly suited to handhelds due to how long they are.

Which platform it'll be on, who knows. Could be 5 years away, like P4G.

Well i do hope so although i'm not sure if the Vita would be able to handle a decent port and it's too early to tell when the Switch's install base will be enough to make it worthwhile.
Regardless though i'm not port begging but i would probably double dip to a lot of 3rd party PS4 games if they were released on the Switch as well.A lot of my PS4 games that i bought this year currently sit unplayed because most of the year i'm away from my PS4 so portability is a HUGE factor for me.I haven't bought a Switch (yet) though.

Yes it will inevitably.

No it won't go to Switch. A mainline Persona game will never be on Nintendo platforms. Sony has exclusive rights to it. So please stop stealth portbegging because that's what this topic has become.

It's 100% going to get a Vita version a year down the line because Vita is still a big deal in Japan and Persona 5 is a PS3 game. Porting it to Vita isn't hard. Or if Sony decides to make a new portable, then on that.

But if neither Vita nor a new Sony handheld emerge, then it won't ever leave PS3 or PS4. Switch is never getting this game.
I don't think Sony pays for exclusivity on the Persona games. I imagine Atlus would port it to wherever the market is.

Really depends on how much the Switch affects the Vita's market. I could definitely see a Switch port in a year or two.

Sony doesn't really pay for Persona's exclusivity, otherwise it would have said "PlayStation Exclusive" on the box. It's just that the Persona games have cultivated an audience on PlayStation systems, creating more of an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" situation.

Is it possible for P5 to eventually come to the Switch, yeah. Will it, I'm honestly not sure. If Atlus intends on doing a portable version of P5 a year down the road, the Vita could be a possible candidate. Any longer, the Vita would be worm food by then.

EDIT: My mistake, they added "Only on PlayStation" to the box for the retail release.

Thats what my box says "only on Playstation" other games in my collection like DQH and NMS do not have this tag, which are just console exclusives, Horizon, TLG also have "only on platstation" line.

Huh, then I must be looking at an old version of the box online. This is on the retail version, right?

Port begging is a bannable offence I hope you realize that...

edit: title has been changed so everything's groovy I guess.

Is there a list of these shadow rules people seem to have a million of but aren't listed in the forum rules? Is there some high priestess I can consult and be inducted into the cult of the secret rules?

Hypothetically speaking, if Atlus were to ever port P5 anywhere, it probably wouldn't happen for couple of years, and unless Sony would for some mysterious reason make a successor for Vita, that only leaves one possible handheld. At that point, I feel like Atlus making that kind of decision would basically be them shooting themselves in the foot.

See, with Japanese culture (especially honor and shame parts of it) that would mean to Japanese public that they would no longer want to purchase P5 for either system, or any of Atlus' games.
Obviously that would be huge, and Atlus would have to publically apologize and cancel P5 for Switch or they would have to kiss their business goodbye.

It does in Europe.

Yup, i have the take your heart edition, steelbook case, but the plastic wallet on the steelbook has it.
News to me. I'm sadly broke as fuck until my next paycheck comes in, so I referenced this.

Sony have no exclusivity deal on persona. I have no idea of it would end up on switch, but in terms of a portable version it is the only viable option at this point. No way are Atlus going to waste resources on a Vita version, and the sales of any vita version in the west would be abysmal and possibly kill any handheld ports coming over in the future.

I hope there's one, I played P3 and P4 on handhelds so it feels weird playing P5 on my TV. Hell, even TMS felt weird on a console for me. A Switch version for both games would be a godsend for me personally.

....Except for the fact Persona 5 is is literally a PlayStation exclusive.

Would love a portable version. I have moved away from console gaming mostly nowadays (being PC/Portable person), but still, I feel like Persona in particular just clicked for me more on the go anyway with how it is setup. I really enjoyed Persona 3 Portable, and gotten into it much more than P4 on the PS2.

He's not lying. That Disney collection people were freaking out about not coming to Switch but coming to PS4/X1/PC, that entire thread people legit got banned left to right for even mentioning Switch. It's a serious offense so tread cautiously.

And yet...

Nope. That's dated promo image.

On the retail box it says "PlayStation Exclusive Content" But nowhere on the box does it say "Only on PlayStation. I have the CE.

It was always coming to PC.

For your own sake I suggest you stop the stealth portbegging.

Thanks. For real. Fortunately I don't portbeg. At most I wistfully wish some things would come to PC for posterity but that's it. I'm glad that I haven't been banned yet since this is the last large game forum that I really enjoy coming to.

P5Golden for Switch. With female protagonist. Believe.

It'd be Crimson, not Golden. Golden was for 4 since yellow was its color. P5's red, so Crimson.

Anyway, dunno if it'd be portable precisely, a re-release would definitely happen on the PS4 at the bare minimum. I have my doubts it'd be on the Switch. Aside from Q, Atlus seems to keep SMT to Nintendo and Persona to Playstation (besides the Arena games).

No, I don't think it will ever hit the Switch.

But I would be happy if it did, seeing as it is one of the finest games i've played all year and i'm not even close to being done with it. The more people that get to play this game, the better.
Also, I don't feel that this game is begging to be played as a portable, really. The visual presentation is amazing on a TV and I personally wouldn't want to play this shrunken down. But I understand what people mean by that, it's a long game.

Also yeah, let's not port beg. Buy a Vita if you want this game on a portable, remote play works great.

or a cell phone.

Some are hoping for KH3 still

Releasing Persona 5 on PS4 was rather unexpected of Atlus, and I suspect the decision was made after they were acquired by Sega. Depending on how much of an input Sega has on which platforms Atlus' games get released could determine if we ever see a Switch version.

OK. Here's a couple of other examples with retail copies of games;
When it comes to third party games, nothing's generally off the table unless a platform holder owns the IP (Sony and Bloodborne, Nintendo and The Wonderful 101) or provided huge financial support and development resources for a third-party game to be made, often to the extent that said game wouldn't have happened at all, or only much later without the platform holder's assistance (Nintendo and Bayonetta 2, Sony and Street Fighter V).

As for the portbegging thing, I can take care of myself, thanks. The whole purpose of this thread is to discuss the possibility of a portable version, isn't it? If the discussion was problematic, I'm sure it would've been locked a long time ago.
