Doctor Strange cast revealed

one of the nolan batmans or dofp beats it out pretty handily. it's definitely one of the best casts though.

I think all three Nolan Batman films have a slightly better cast and you're definitely right about the X-Men films (I'd say First Class has the best cast), but this is really high up there. Tilda Swinton in particular I think is a terrific actress who's thoroughly underrated.

Prettay, prettay good.

Too bad about the director tho.

Again, is this the greatest cast for a superhero movie ever?

Batman Begins:
Christian Bale
Michael Caine
Morgan Freeman
Gary Oldman
Liam Neeson
Ken Watanabe
Cillian Murphy
Rutger Hauer
Tom Wilkinson

I'm gonna have to go with no, there.

Great cast for a superhero movie.
Too bad this will be the worst yet.
It also kind of feels like all of their agents finally convinced them to go for these roles because these superhero things are making a lot of money. Wrong movie to sign up for though!

Except Mikelssen and Tilda Swinton. They're probably doing it because they are in to weird shit.

Can you take another trip to the future and tell me what Peter Parker's costume looks like?

Lol, no True Detective credit for Rachel McAdams

Feel all kinds of bad for her about that

Can't wait for this movie. Magic in the MCU will be batshit awesome

lol that synposis is ridiculous. "There's a car crash and now... magic."

Anyways, I'm super disappointed with the casting of Mads.... Simply because it means he won't be playing Dr. Doom now.

Hey, you never know. Doom does magic, too! This could be his intro movie!

Yeah, not a chance.

For what it is worth, the same source who confirmed Mads to me months back, said he was 90% confident it was for Dormmamu. He was certain it was a major villain, and was very confident it would be him, though he wasn't sure if Mads would be a motion-capture/voice performance, or appearing in any more conventional capacity.

Here's a thought... what if it's not Dormamu, but instead Surtur as the big bad? Tie it into Thor early maybe?

a) they've made major changes to villains before already
b) Villains already get fairly limited screen time in Marvel movies, so Dormamu wouldn't likely be present for long with Mordo probably being the more prevalent antagonist unless they play a long game for a Dr. Strange 2.
c) Thor 3 would still need to introduce, explain, and give Surtur a chance to prove how powerful he really is. If you introduce that concept acouple movies early, you skip a big chunk of that process.

It's such a far away possibility, but Evans and Downey are on Kimmel tonight. What if they revealed that Marvel got the right to FF back and that Mads was going to be Dr. Doom in the upcoming Strange flick?

If I had to think of a place to drop Dr. Doom before a Fantastic Four movie officially got off the ground, it would be in Dr. Strange's house, or Iron Man's.

That was an all star cast right there.

Amazing cast list, however one thing that got me...
Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films

Unless Infinity War Parts 1 & 2 are being counted as one, isn't Phase 3 supposed to be ten films?

It'd be a weird thing to do. Firstly, Marvel would need to know for a while that that was going to happen in order to plan for it, so early as in before the Trank movie was released. Secondly, why get the Civil War guys to talk about a movie that's only started filming, explaining legal mumbo jumbo to an audience that likely doesn't even know what any of this means?

That'd be crazy though.

They would tease Civil War. Probably a tease of a tease with a trailer attached to Star Wars.

That cast is fantastic (except the awful lead), but I'm not sure that matters with Marvel Studios. The Thor movies have some pretty great actors...

Civil War
Doctor Strange
GOTG2
Spider-Man
Thor 3
Black Panther
Avengers Part 1
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Captain Marvel
Avengers Part 2
Inhumans

That's a great cast, damn.

Still think the writers/director combined with the studio will make it a bit underutilized. That said, I'll be there.

Marvel Studios announced today that production has begun on “Doctor Strange,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch (“Black Mass,” “The Imitation Game”), Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave,” “The Martian”), Rachel McAdams (“Southpaw,” “Sherlock Holmes”) and Michael Stuhlbarg (“Steve Jobs,” “A Serious Man”) with Mads Mikkelsen (“Clash of the Titans,” “Casino Royale”) and Academy Award® winner Tilda Swinton (“Michael Clayton,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel”). The film, which opens in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016, is directed by Scott Derrickson (“Sinister,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”). The film will be shot in several locations around the world, including London, New York, Hong Kong and Kathmandu, Nepal.
