Anyone in the states going to one of the theater showings? I'm tempted to go since I'll be on vacation, but I'd feel weird going alone. Anyone considering doing Dr. Who fan meet ups? Nah, that'd be too weird. I probably just watch in on BBCA, but I'd love to go to a theater showing. Knowing my luck, I'd probably be the only one there.

My family is going to one of the showings in Atlanta. Really looking forward to it. It'll be my daughter's first theater experience. Awesomely, the first movie she ever watched beginning to end was Fellowship of the Ring despite its crazy running time.

I'm going to a theater showing alone since none of my friends really watch Doctor Who. Should be fine. The first showing already sold out, so it'll be plenty busy.

New video of David Tenant introducing the episode... Badly.

Features the return of Fnarg...

Haha, pretty funny.

What on earth was going on with David's hair in the Ultimate Guide thing? He looked about 9.

I think he had it like that because he had to wear hair extensions for Richard II.

You can't really see the ponytail here but I'm mainly posting it because of the spiderman shirt.

Too many huge games announcements. Hell, gaming side is averaging like 35k people on any given day, now.

Discovered the plainly named "Doctor Who Podcast" which is a little more nerdy/wanky/old-school, but I like that they take time to seriously review the Big Finish stuff. Not bad stuff.

So the indian girl is super cu...

So the indian girl is super cute.

The blonde girl has been there since kids react, she is pretty awesome, usually loves all the nerdy things they show to her and the part of the weeping angel comparing it to the SMB ghosts was pretty great. Also, Im sure she is going to watch the show now and turn a big fan, she has done the same thing for other videos, would not be strange to see her in the next videos with a Doctor Who tshirt.

I thought it was just the next gen launch. What big announcements have there been? I haven't seen anything.

Well, that's what I'm talking about. As soon as anyone learns anything about the new console they're getting (or have gotten) it's someone making a post about something and a couple thousand people staring at it. The forum used to crash when over 20k people were looking at gaming side at once. Now it's almost always sitting around 25-35k people during the workday, with spikes as console/game news drops.

Plus, Super Mario World 3D is about to start blowing up, I think.

Good news: Saturdays slow down pretty decently.

MEGA SPOILERS http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-sagers/exclusive-tom-baker-to-ap_b_4295773.html

Actor Tom Baker revealed in a recent interview that he would be in this Saturday's 75-minute special.

"I am in the special," said Baker. "I'm not supposed to tell you that, but I tell you that very willingly and specifically; the BBC told me not to tell anybody but I'm telling you straightaway."

And at least Tom Baker's scarf is seen in the special in some sort of a museum, worn by a woman who may be the character of the "Curator," who collects paintings from the character's adventures.

As far as how the Baker will figure into the story, the actor didn't say but did call the circumstances of his character's appearance in the special "extraordinary."

"It worked out very well, I think, judging by the reactions of the technicians," he added.

Whatever the rest of the details, the actor's return is monumental to the franchise. And it is apparent that Baker himself is happy to return. He calls the performance "the high spot" and "loveliest professional experience" of his life.

@Slowdive's news post: Well no shit. Of course that was gonna happen. The interesting detail there is the slight hint at the specifics that was let on, but as for the big news point itself, yeah. Always going to happen.

Goddamn, I thought I would just look at the headline of that HuffPo article and then I see it, and I'm like ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING? I had stayed pretty much spoiler free till then.

RE that spoiler, a bit of speculation as to what it means -
There's a shot in the trailer where the Doctors and the two Kate Stewarts are entering a room with what appears to be lots of sheet-covered statues. Considering the other shot where there's two Kate Stewarts in the trailer is in a room dedicated to the Doctor, with photos of past Doctors and companions everywhere - Ace, Kameleon, Sarah, Martha etc - this chamber may well contain statues of all the Doctors, I thought.

I also think potentially the person quoted in the article might be pulling their pisser for a laugh, potentially, given the NDA-shattering implications and flippancy of it.

Don't do it. Your face will explode if it's a surprise.

I'm contemplating getting off this thread until Saturday.

I saw the first line of those spoilers so I guess I know the big one. I'm not familiar with that era so it's not a mind blower for me.

But it seems people are freaking out about the rest? I guess I won't peek any further.

Wonder if
it'll be too many cooks though

It was nice that McGann got enough time to shine by himself. Having Smith, Tennant and Hurt jostle for time is enough! Will be cool seeing them but hopefully they're not cheapened by just being there.

Meanwhile a spoiler hound on Outpost Gallifrey is claiming that the above spoiler is true, BUT
Tom appears, not the Fourth Doctor. He's allegedly playing a curator at the National Museum when the Doctor visits there with UNIT. A brief one-line cameo.

I'm OK with this.

That 'explore the TARDIS' thing on the BBC website made me really appreciate the new TARDIS. I think my favourite in New Who.
