Yeah, I'm bailing on this thread till after the special. Easier to resist temptation or accidents that way. FOUR DAYS ARGHGHGGH

The same guy who spoiled the contents of Night of the Doctor who was widely regarded with scepticism until it came out and was exactly what he said right down to the seven minute run-time said that this was going to happen.

Awesome, the best free marketing, using the worlds most popular search engine.

I've been wondering if the sales for cinema tickets might make a big enough dent for it to appear in the top 10 films of the week.

Probably not, but I'd love to see it at Number 1, if only in the UK.

I think it had potential to have if they ran more screens. In my city the day-of showing sold out in about a half hour of going on sale, but it was only one screen at one theatre. They probably could have sold enough tickets for 3 screens at that theatre alone.

Wait so should I be booking tickets for that

My little bro wanted to go see it in Wimbledon, but it's likely to be sold out? and maybe won't be able to see it on Saturday?

Well fuck my zygon poopy

He was excited

I assumed I could just turn up

I'm personally not checking it out at a theater because 1) It's a crappy theater 2) it's 2 days after it actually airs 3) it's only in 3D

The last one is probably the most annoying bit, just BARELY nudging out the first two.

Assuming you're going to the simultaneous airing at 7:30 on Saturday evening, and you're going to the Odeon, they aren't sold out yet. Just checked.

I'd book.

All of these rumours are getting really crazy. I have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore. Guess we'll find out for sure in a few days.

I'm torn right now between two (seemingly) sensible points of view:

A) It's the goddamned 50th Anniversary, so why would they not be pulling out every single stop available to them and doing their best to keep their surprises secret?

and

B) 50th or not, sometimes people just don't want to be involved (or won't be available) and on top of that, the BBC doesn't have unlimited money to throw at Doctor Who.

As you say though, not long to wait now.

I've been involved in some discussion on the general TV side of Outpost Gallifrey (The civilised bit!) wondering if the ratings for the whole night on all channels will be depressed from the number of people watching at the cinema and maybe making a night of it rather than hurrying back home for Casualty.

Looks like The Last Day is out on itunes, fuck paying £2.50 for a 3 minute minisode.

Synopsis, nothing spoilery really.
First day on the front line? Time to attatch a headcam for a soldier's point of view. What could possibly go wrong?

Those twitter rumours, damn. Why did I read them.
But I hope they are true, even if ruin the surprise by reading that it will still be magnificent in the big screen. Nerdgasm territory.

You don't have to. Someone will, and they're going to tell the internet 3 minutes later.

Yep, just seems odd they're charging (that much) for it. You can watch a 30 second preview though in the meantime. Also if this is just nothing like it looks like it is, then a certain spoiler hound is wrong.

Details for the Minisode: The Last Day

- Shows it in first person mode
- Galiffrey Soldiers
- New Recruit
- Set in Arcadia ("Safest place on Gallifrey")
- Scanning the skies to make sure nothing gets past the sky trenches and in
- Dalek gets in, then hundreds of them
- Ends

Was ok for the time it had. Kind of a day in the life of a new recruit all in first person mode witha HUD on screen.

A 30 second preview for a 3 minute episode? That's like getting a 20 minute trailer for a movie.

Huh. I always imagined Arcadia was its own planet.

Just bought The Last Day on iTunes. I had £1.30something spare from an iTunes gift card.

Now, I know it was only a few quid... but what a rip off!

The 30 second preview is the LAST 30 seconds of it. So there is no point buying it. Don't do it!

Night of the Doctor - I'd have paid £10 for that. This latest one is almost worthless.

Problem. I have 2 episodes left in series 7 part 1. I just realized series 7 part 2 is not free on Amazon video. There anywhere I can watch it? Or am I going to have to buy the second half of the series?

Nowhere has it avaibalbe to watch for free at this time. It was recently released on Blu Ray, so they'd like to make their money on the discs or digital downloads for now.

Bought The Last Day on Itunes. I would have felt ripped off even If i youtubed it. Goddamn awful.

Its badly acted shaky head cam from one dudes POV as he meets 2 other soldiers and cheap CGI daleks float in the sky.

No way I'm reading those spoilers with this thing so close now, thanks everyone for being good about using the tag.

It's hard to keep my expectations in check with you guys freaking out like this though, lol. I don't want to go in too hyped as it makes it harder for me to be pleasantly surprised.

I love the nostalgic look of it.

It makes me realise how much I missed a TARDIS that actually looked like a high-tech computer, not a bodged together, semi-organic...thing.

The Guardian has an interview article thing with Mark Gatiss about An Adventure in Space and Time.

Speaking of consoles, it's amazing how great the original console room still looks. A totally timeless piece of set design.
