Donkey Kong Banaza Direct announced for June 18

Cool, I'll watch it for sure. Hoping for some new hook/gameplay mechanic we haven't seen yet.

I really hope this is better/more substantial than the Mario Kart World "Direct" though, which was basically just a overview trailer that they could've dropped on YouTube/social media.

I don't think there's enough to this game to hold a 15 minute presentation without spoling it completely. It's a game about punching rocks and kinding bananas buried in them...

They should have had a general direct instead with a 5 minute segment and a new trailer. We just got thought an announcement season where NOTHING was announced for this system, showing real, actual ZERO third party support for this thing. Theres also nothing dated beyond DK except for Pokemon. They have to do something impactful and this is not it. This console has had ZERO meaningful third party announcements and ONE first party announcement since April. Wtf are they thinking?

Already preordered but I'll check out the direct

I love the environmental destruction showcased in this game. Loved it in Control as well. Preordered it at Costco for a cheaper price.

"I'm gonna tell Nintendo what to do, including about their game that I know barely anything about."

Yea exactly this, I've been enjoying mine, but playing Paper Mario and then Zelda EoW on there, 2 older games, so I'll be picking this up as it looks fun but even announced games such as Elden Ring don't even have release dates yet

Hell I planned out my games release calender for the rest of the year for new games, and the switch has 4:

  • Pokemon Legends ZA
  • Metroid Prime 4
  • Donkey Kong
  • Mario Party Jamboree
Sure 3 new games I'll enjoy and Mario Part for the family, I even considered rebuying Kirby as I never finished it, but theres not much else

The landscape is a strange bunch of yellow and purple with the only greenery I remember is in a throwback level.

You know what else we know nothing about? Look at this:
  • No date for Drag x Drive (not like anyone gives a fuck about this)
  • No date for Metroid Prime 4
  • No date for Hyrule Warriors age of imprisoment
  • Not even a single gameplay screenshot of Kirby Air Riders (and comes out this year)
  • No date for Borderlands 4
  • No date for FFVIIR
  • If any of the games announced at SFG is releasing on S2
  • If any of the games showcased at XBOX direct is releasing on S2
  • What are we going to play next year on this that isn't Duskbloods
Hey, I know nothing, but maybe it's a good idea for Nintendo to adress this instead of being a dismissive bootliker?

Really curious about this one. The fact that all worlds are basically multi-layered and you have to dig to get to them is interesting. I love verticality in games.

You have no idea if DKB is "enough" for a direct. They'll release that info when they are ready to, same as always. If you don't like it, then don't buy a Switch 2 like I haven't.

Yahoo!!! The reason I got my Switch! I'm really interested in seeing how involved platforming can get when you can climb most surfaces, roll jump, turf surf and what they call chunk jump. There was some footage of people flying through the levels with these abilities and it looked really satisfying. I think people have this idea that you just dig until the level is no more then game set and match.

Neither do you. And giving this game 15 minutes is not the way to adress the worst launch Nintendo has had in terms of communication by a long mile.

They are taking too long to be ready. We had 2 weeks where the entire industry presented their presenting their next games for the next 3 years and Switch 2 was ABSOULUTELY EXCLUDED from it. Their platform was released a few days ago and nobody is on board with it. You probably think thats not a pressing matter to adress because they're doing a presentation for a game that will release in a month after that. That's not reasonable for any hardware launch.

Can you imagine PlayStation or XBOX not having any game announced during SGF or E3? It's inconceivable. Swich was a third party powerhouse and always had a ton of concrete dates after directs so the inmediate future was clear, along with some extra stuff for later. Now with Switch 2 Nintendo is treating almost all games like the games that would release in more than 9 months time, with sparce info if there's anything. But they are releasing before the end of the year.

When they announced Switch 1 they showed all the games coming in the next 12 months and the first 6 moths were clear. With the Switch 2 presentetion, they announced just 6 months, only dated 2 games. It took them 3 months to date Pokemon but still then, everything remains a mystery. To top that off, third parties showed up for lauch with ports and absolutely fucking vanished when the time came to announce new games.

I really like the console and I really can't wait for some of the games in store, but Nintendo FUMBLED THIS HARD. They are stringing us along badly, their comunication has been abyssmal since the announcement in january and they are not capitalizing on the fact that the Swich was a proven formula to get thir parties on board.

They need to get their shit together and adress everything. Not just DK.

Bad news then: no standard Nintendo Direct.

Are they really going to wait until September to do one? Does Nintendo think that MKW and Donkey Kong Bananza are enough for now?

No, I don't, which is why I am saying, wait for the direct and let's see what they have and more about what this game is.

I don't know what to tell you, why did you buy it if you have all these problems? And I'm the bootlicker?

I may be an idiot online forum poster, but I think this is not the best way to market your newly released console. We want to see a roadmap of first and third party releases solidified, not just a gameplay demo of the next game.

With that said, I'll be getting this one day one.

And what I'm saying is... there's more important stuff to adress than this.
To you. The system just launched and it's selling like crazy.

If people had a problem with Nintendo's strategy then it's not being reflected in sales or enthusiasm. Nintendo wannts to sell a lot of DKB and they're going to put it out front. Square will tell us when FF7R is coming, Take Two will tell us with Borderlands, etc.

Yeah. Swich 2 launch was smooth, no complaints only smiles. Loved the price increases, loved the key-cards, loved the packed-in game, and everything was comunicated so transparently and clearly. Everyone was extremely happy about everything. You're right, case dismissed.

The gameplay of this hasn't convinced me at all yet. Especially level design wise it's not doing much for me and the whole destroy everything or whatever is something I can see getting old.

Would love to be dead wrong.

why the fuck did you buy one

The only way I can see this having more to it, is if they have a MP angle. They had weird shit for Luigi too (that no one plays).

I hate how this game looks so I try to avoid seeing it as much as possible. So far I'm not getting it, no matter if it's the GOTY I just can't stand the combination of colors with those glossy materials and glossy feathers on DK himself, etc. It's just too ugly too look at for me.

Not sure I should give the Direct a chance... The reason I avoid seeing it is because it overstimulates me with all of the colors and shit, like, too much and I love colorful games and cartoony style (actually, not into realistic games at all, maybe one here and there sometimes).
