I am overwhelmingly excited for this damn game, man. Impressions that I've read so far on Reddit paints TDA as a genuinely incredible product. iD will be 3-for-3 (heh) in critical darlings if/WHEN they stick the landing for this one.

combat looks like a step backwards (dodging slow moving patterns of orbs... looks so dumb) and big open areas doesnt seem like it plays to doom's strengths.

will give it a try though.

Huge DOOM fan, loved 2016, enjoyed Eternal (the combat was the best part IMO), and I'm excited about The Dark Ages. I'm just really hoping it lands in every possible way. It's hard to tell how I'll feel about it from where we're at now. But I'd love to love it the most, or more than Eternal at least. But we'll see.

2016 was amazing, Eternal was not my cup of tea. Too erratic, too twitchy, too many jumping puzzles.
I prefer Metal-Festival Doom over Techno-Party Doom. And Dark Ages looks like the most metal Doom ever.

It's going to be different from 2016 or Eternal, which were very special games I enjoyed a ton.

It'll still be very much worth playing. id games don't come often, but they're worth the wait.

Not sure how it plays, but I'm a huge Doom fan and I've been saying since we first saw Dark Ages that it looks like a graphical downgrade. Doom Eternal as far as graphics looks worlds above. I think they are trying to keep this under the radar and no one is really talking about it. Who gives a fuck about RTGI if the graphics look worse/less detailed. If you look at the enemies from Eternal to Dark Ages they are less detailed, some look like PS3/PS4 level.

Eternal was my goty that year (and maybe one of the best FPS ive played the last 10 years) but for some reason im not feeling the magic this time, I hope im wrong

I hope it's good because well, it's Doom, but I have zero hype for this and think it looks lame. Sorry in advance. Still assume it'll score in the mid-to-high 80s minimum. Maybe it's got a bunch of tricks up its sleeve that feel much better with your hands on the controller.

Still don't get why the Doom dude now sounds like the fucking Prawn Suit in Subnautica while walking twice the speed. So many details looks way off to me but I got rekt with Silent Hill 2 Remake as well soooo!

Lower 80s. It kinda doesn't strike me as "special". I'm expecting well done fun but ultimately nothing with any staying power in your memories.

9/10 since they're doing Lovecraft stuff. Something makes me think this game will be something special, especially with the shield mechanic.

The red orb bullet hell stuff with special green orbs looks a little sus. No Mick either. I voted 75-80. I hope they don't go rooting through the gimmick bin too much in an attempt to make up for grounding us.

I picked 80-84 but that's with a 5 point salt tax for seemingly/apparently* leaning more into Eternal then 2016. 😁

*never could figure out the correct usage of those words

Unless it captures all the greatness of Doom Eternal but also switches things up and nails the execution, I'm thinking 80-85.

Sequels have to work very hard to out-review their predecessors, imo.

TDA seems less tight than the previous 2 games. Its more about blocking and open areas. I can't see it outscore those 2. Maybe 83 or something.

If it comes together and makes sense like Doom Eternal, it will be superlative.

If not, it will be a disaster.

Thats how it is when you try to shake things up and add different mechanics in an fps.

Personally it will either be a 6 (barely playable) or a 10 for me.

For metascore, its 86. Safe bet.

Hoping to hear there's some environmental variety and the combat is actually fun.

This is probably the one in the trilogy I've been the least excited for but excited to hear what the reviews say.

I hated Eternal (core gameplay was fine, hated the way they handled the story, the hub, and all the menu diving in an FPS game), so I am cautiously optimistic. Good thing it's coming to XBOX so I can try it risk free.

Oh shit....this is today? Missed the poll, but I'm going to say 9/10. It looks that good

I actually loved eternal, minus the multiplayer trophies which ended up fucking me over at the end from getting the Platinum. Ive read that this new has no multiplayer trophies and the platinum looks like its a good one without alot of extra grief to get there. If the reviews are solid, im on this.

I havent played it, but from looking at at the video material, it reminds me a lot of Dark Souls. Demons hanging around in villages and castles that look a lot like those games. Combat looks like how you would fuse Doom and Dark Souls shield and sword gameplay.
