The game is addictive especially if you go to Bittlerblack Isle at level 3 and give yourself a real challenge out of the gate.

What about Pro support?
Yes, but at this point in time what exactly that is still up in the air.

How the hell is this still a thing? Like why do we never know what enhancements a game does or doesn't have. And it's out tomorrow.

I'm curious regarding
Online Ur Dragon:

Will the rewards of fighting and/or defeating online Ur Dragon be exactly the same as they were on PS3/360?

I guess so?

I mean we won't know until people have defeated him, but I don't think they're gonna change anything.
I'm actually impressed they added new trophies.

I'm asking because i think i've heard that the PC version had some changes.

The first 98% of the story i didn't care at all. But the final 2% of the game, in terms of story, is one of my favorite pieces in any game.

Mind. Blown.

Yup. I was wondering where the hell the story went for most of the game, and then goddamn. That last bit, ending and world concept is insane.

Shameless self-quote from the DD:DA OT on pawn inclinations:

So I finally got around to researching pawn inclinations. Interesting stuff. Here's some general advice for my fellow noobs:

I. Avoid the Guardian and Acquisitor inclinations at all costs.

II. Good inclinations:
Melee pawns: Scather (Primary), Mitigator, Utilitarian
Ranged pawns: Challenger (Primary), Mitigator, Utilitarian
Spellcaster pawns: Utilitarian (Primary), Challenger, Medicant (for healers) or Mitigator (for nukers)

More detailed advice:

III. To set your desired pawn inclinations, go to Johnathan in the Encampment (he appears next to the rift stone after you finish the Reward and Responsibility quest) and buy the proper elixirs. You have to take them in reverse order. So let's say you want your Mage pawn to have Utilitarian as his primary inclination, Challenger as his secondary, and Medicant as his third.

This is the order you want to take the elixirs:
1. Neutralizing Elixir (to reset your pawn's inclinations to default)
2. Medicant Elixir
3. Challenger Elixir
4. Utilitarian Elixir
5. Another Utilitarian Elixir (to reinforce it as the primary inclination)

IV. Reinforce your pawn's inclinations at a Knowledge Chair (found in the inns). The first question your pawn asks you is always in regards to its secondary and third inclinations. You will be asked to choose between them (in the form of a somewhat roundabout question), which allows you to swap the secondary and third inclinations. Why is this important? Because every time you switch back-and-forth between the two, it apparently reinforces your primary inclinations. So every time you visit an inn, sit down at the Knowledge Chair to swap your secondary and third inclinations, and then use the Knowledge Chair again to swap them back. Doing this regularly should keep your pawn's desired inclinations stable (at least that's what I read).

7 gifs webms that showcase what I love about Dragon's Dogma:

Combo your enemy with a flurry of quick dagger strikes + a kick, pick him up, and let your pawn finish him off!

Play as a Magick Archer, shoot explosive arrows into a cyclops' kneecap, and finish him off when he topples over!

Speaking of Magick Archers, these crazy bastards can set themselves on fire. Perfect for taking down those bastard griffins!

Pawns are the real MVPs. They can even save your ass from a deadly fall!

More pawn goodness: a Warrior alley-oop!

Nighttime is actually scary. It gets dark as fuck and more deadly enemies prowl about.

Don't get cocky, or a troll might just dropkick your dumb ass off a ledge!

Awesome, I got into Dragon Dogma hype when ps4/xbox1 released so I never got to play pass the 1st half of the game, and I have a long time waiting for this day to cone, I have a great dilema about if i buy it PS4 to play it on the pro or xbox one to play it while waiting for the xbox one x.
I wish more games had nighttime like this :(
Absolutly!! One of the best elements of the game.

Considering a single 970 runs the game on 50+ fps on 4K, that pro 30faps/1440p seems quite weak. But stable 30fps is huge improvement over the last gen versions no doubt.

so i gave this game a shot on PC and was really turned off by the item/weight dynamic and the dullness of a number of the sidequests. i enjoyed the combat and the world though. any recommendations on minimizing the micromanagement of the weight system, and can one reasonably bulldoze the game by only focusing on the main quests?

Where did you get this info from? 1440p would be a preorder cancelled for me. Not rewarding a lazy port regardless of how good the game is.

Hard mode is no joke huh. Every single enemy so far one hits. Even after gear upgrades.

It gets easier the further you get in the game. Later in the game I don't think I noticed any difference between normal and hard mode to be honest.

Nightime was great but i wish it had some variety in terms of light/dark depending on the fullness of the moon and clouds. It would have been nice if it was more dynamic than just always be pitch black.

If they ever make a sequel i'd love to see that.

There are two augments (passive abilities) that help with the item weight issue:

Sinew - Rank 5 Fighter augment

Leg-Strength - Rank 9 Strider augment

If your playing on PC, theres a mod that specifically deals with your issues.

And yeah, you can ignore side quests and play the main quest line straight.

The more weight your character has, the more they can carry, I believe. So you could do that in character creation. But there will always be some form of micro management. Having a heavy pawn, and the two of you can carry quite a bit. Not too mention getting support pawns to carry stuff for you.

Bulldozing the main quest? There are people whose done it, so it's doable. Hopefully more knowledgeable people will be able to give better advice.

Yes, but at this point in time what exactly that is still up in the air. Regardless, the screenshots below (courtesy of GAF member Nemisis0) were captured on PS4 Pro while in the games photo mode and show a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Gonna be picking this one up on Thursday for my birthday. Can't wait to jump back in, and it feels good to actually buy it this time rather than getting it through PS+. Never did Bitterblack Isle before, so that should be interesting.

I really really hope this game gets a sequel. A western release of DDO wouldn't go amiss either, but a sequel in the vein of the first (perhaps with cooperative options) would be ideal.

I only played this a bit on PS3, and then held off in hopes of a future remaster. Now, I feel weirdly hesitant to pull the trigger: can anyone post a particularly cool video of the game to push me over the edge? :)

This game is so, so cheap with Amazon's preorder discount!

It's one of the better action-RPGs to come around in the past decade.

If you liked what you played on the ps3, you'll probably end up liking the rest. :)

I double dipped on the PC version because i remembered having tons of fun playing it on the PS3....

Then i actually started playing the game and remembered how mediocre to bad everything outside of combat was:/

1440p = good enough for me

I can't wait to see the world in (almost) ultra resolution

All things considered, I'm pretty sure the outdated jaguar CPU's in these consoles is what's holding the game back from 60fps, and not some lack of effort on Capcom's part. Almost every single port they have done this generation has been 60fps, DD is clearly the exception rather than the rule.

Warrior is the classes for going guts on everything yeah?

Yes.

Yeah, the original version even had Guts gear. There is even a chacter preset that looks just like guts (hair, build and scar in fave with one eye closed)

Edit:
Actually, i read that it was not on PC version, so, does anyone have details if Both Guts and Griffith armor are in the remaster?

What would you recommend my starting class to be?I am a big fan of Souls games and melee combat.

Warrior?Fighter?Strider?

Basically i want to jump on bosses lol

Only played the PS3 version for a couple of hours. The fps, black bars, and my busy schedule at that time made it really hard to commit time to it, but I can't wait to play it again. Idk if I should wait till Xbox One X releases or if I should play on PS4 Pro..

Thats exactly my dilema.

As far as I have read, is locked 30fps and the black bars are gone.

Spent about 20 hours with the console versions this weekend. Incredibly happy. May do a new review aside from the PC one but it may not be needed.

Fighter or Strider.

If your coming from Souls, Fighter if you used shields and Strider if you preferred rolls.

Warrior wont be available at the start of the game and while they can mount, are much better on their own two feet rather than an ogre's.

Once you unlock the hybrid and advanced vocations, Assassin should be what your after.

I forgot they made Selene's outfit available via dlc. Thinking of rolling a witch now instead of my usual assassin/strider setup. Hmmm...

This game was my go-to for playing dress up :p

I'd definately like to see one if you have the time.

Maybe not really needed for buy/wait/miss but it'd be interesting to hear your take on the remaster.

Mystic Knight or Sorcerer?

Leading towards the former because I like having a sword, but pure magic users sound like a blast.
