Dragon Age: Inquisition |OT2| Leave the damn Hinterlands!

1 or 2 more main quest, and then that's you done.
It's tought to call them quests, more like conversations and battles. An hour and a half of gameplay tops.

Also, finally beat the game today! I started playing day 2. Kept going in December, but went home for Christmas and New Year's. Then I didn't have much time to play in January and also the long break made me lose some enthusiasm (it's like waiting for a sequel to a book: the first couple days are torture, but the months and years that follow are ok) to go back. February was mostly spent at home due to winter holiday, lol. Over the last couple days I put some serious hours in and finally beat it this evening!

Overall I really enjoyed it. The companions are truly something else. Will probably write more later.

My character is starting to annoy me after 55h. I hate his face, I hate his beard. So I stopped playing 2 months ago.
I was fading off after I killed all the dragons, so I got monster hunter and continued killing dragons.

So, after 58h I'm through the game, it is a good wrpg with flaws. Like I don't like the battles or the loot.

I likes some characters like bull, sera and sola, disliked no one really. The landscapes are beautiful and offer variety. The Story was okay, but isn't the strong point of bioware games, for me it's always the characters and the atmosphere, which was good in this game.

But I really wanted the story to be more gritty, dirty and darker like DA:O. You can't even be the bad guy, just an asshole but still a good person.

7.8/10

I just wrapped up the main questline last night. It just kinda...ended, there, didn't it? Not a satisfying end sequence at all. Without getting spoilery, the Temple is cool, the Altar is weak, and the next bit is anticlimactic. I do like that you get to continue playing, and the interactions with your squadmates is pretty cool. Corypheus is a weak villain with almost no motivation. You hardly ever interact with him and you don't get to see him doing villainy things. He's just an ugly guy you want to kill because he's ugly.

I hope the DLC continues the story and it's not just a side thing.

I finally started this bastard. I got out of the Hinterlands after getting 30 "power" points, which was roughly 5 hours, so not too bad. No burn out! Yet...

I think it's best to think of the Temple as the last mission: it's the one all your troops rally for, for example. Very 'last mission', you then just basically get the ability to kill a bunch of time and side-questing before the final boss fight, which makes the pacing really weird. Final fight is also super lame.

It's a shame too.
Corypheus arrival at skyhold was really cool.
I loved the music.

Oh yeah, speaking of the final fight!

So he shows up at Skyhold, tears it all up, floats it up to the sky, you kill him, it crashes, and you "go back to Skyhold" which is all better? Did I misunderstand something there?
Edit: Nevermind, they were
at the temple of the sacred ashes, not Skyhold.

But another thing that just started bugging me. Occasionally you see these magic barriers, and it says that only a certain element and break the barrier. A mage's normal attacks aren't elemental, and their staves only amplify which elemental tree you specialize in, unless I'm wrong. Regardless, any mage can break down any barrier. I wonder if elemental magic was meant to play a bigger part in the game somehow.

Corypheus is a weak villain with almost no motivation.

I disagree. He has plenty of motivation. The ancient Tevinter magisters were betrayed by the Old Gods, and after Corypheus entered the Golden City he found it was empty of an actual God. Disallusioned by this, he seeks to reenter the Golden City and claim it for himself to give the world the God it rightly deserves/needs, a conclusion he's come to largely because of the state of the world he's observed since he woke up during Dragon Age 2. He even lays it out for you in the coolest dialogue of the game:

Corypheus: I have gathered the will to return under no name but my own. To champion withered Tevinter and correct this blighted world. Beg that I succeed, for I have seen the throne of the Gods. And it was empty.

Corypheus represents the darker side to the nihilism Thedas is experiencing during Inquisition's story. The world feels the Maker has abandoned them just like the Old Gods abandoned/betrayed Corypheus back in the ancient days.

Nice analysis.
The problem is the writing to flesh out Corypheus is not done throughout the story. The ending battle was lackluster and seemed like a sloppy set up for the true gods; the return of the elven gods.

Agreed. Many things could have been done better when it comes to Coryfish. Still, I feel his motivation is clear and that he is a great villain when looking at what the game focuses on as its theme.

I wouldn't be surprised if earlier versions of the story had Cory defeated at the 3/4 point of the story with Solas taking over as the final villain for the rest, but that due to time/budget issues the scope had to be scaled down.

I'll play it if the patch is out. I think I shouldn't be that far off:
Last main quest I was drinking out of some kind of magic water, I forgot the context, how many mainquest/hours left ?

look at him, such an arrogant douche he is.
If you're on PC, you can change the appearance mid-game.

Does this game ever end? The filler is starting to annoy me more and more, but I'm strangely compelled to keep completing dumb quests.

I hope there aren't too many real quests left.
I kinda just want it to end, so I can focus on Bloodborne next week without DA hanging over my head. I'm going to focus on finishing the story quests and maybe come back to it later.

For anyone that has beaten the game and has seen The Keep chapter for Inquisition, may you please share with as few spoilers as possible whether The Keep tracks largely story choices and/or side quest choices? If there are major side quest choices, would you mind telling me the title of the sidequests so I know which to do.

I want to have as many boxes filled for The Keep as possible, but obviously don't want to do every last side quest in the game (there are more than enough as is). Thanks

Half of the Inquisition tapestry is the outcomes of the main story quests. Apart from those, there's tiles for the Inner Circle quests; capturing the keeps in Crestwood, Western Approach, and Emprise du Lion; and the main quests for each region.

Woah, I was exploring Emprise du Lion and found a completely unfinished area way below the map. You had to go through a fake rock with no clipping to get there...

Here's a video of the route. It's really creepy once you get down there, but its totally intentional. The entrance has a large piece of wood that helps you leap onto the edge by the rock...

After playing as a male human warrior (who I made look like BroShep), I'm starting again as a female qunari mage. The little dialog changes in the prologue have been really cool so far.

Been playing as an female warrior elf and albeit some minor qualms I have with the game I am really enjoying it! Reached
skyhold
today and that sense of that the adventure has just started was just awesome.

I like how after 5-6 PC Patches, they still haven't figured out how to let you switch to a controller mid-game without quitting out and restarting the Application. I know this is Bioware's first PC game in a while that has gamepad support, but come on.

I'm pretty sure they said because the UI layout is completely different between controller and M/KB

In most PC games the UI layout does not change.

I don't see how they could change the graphics layout on the fly, so I understand

I should clarify I'm not asking it to change on the fly. But if you turn on a wireless controller after the game starts up and doesn't get recognized, you have to quit out of the game completely and restart it for it to pick up the controller again.

Basically every other game with gamepad support at least lets you toggle between M/K and the gamepad in a menu option so you don't need to quit out of the entire program. The game should be able to change the UI after making the switch in the menu without needing to restart the whole game, though I'm guessing some design choices they made makes it's not quite so trivial to implement.

First time in this thread eventhough I started playing DAI a week or so ago. I'm a male Qunari mage with the KE specialisation (I have all the barriers) playing on nightmare. Outside of the dragon fights (I have yet to beat the lowest level one, even though I was 2 or 3 levels above it) I haven't found it too taxing, but I'm starting to feel a little underequipped.

I was wanting to craft some new armours but I'm wondering, in terms of damage reduction is it better to go with the percentage reduction or boosting the defensive stats (ie. +x% melee defense vs +x constitution)?

Hey, Dragon Age GAF.

I have uncovered a secret quest hidden in the game by BioWare. This information was given to me by a developer who worked on it, as a means of verifying his legitimacy as a source for an article I wrote about another game BioWare worked on.

You can check out instructions on how to access the quest below. It's a neat little hidden thing put in there just for fun by the devs to see how long it would take someone to find it. Let me know if you have any questions :)

Already been found. It's underneath the Suledin Keep.
Chest has a unique helmet called "Ardent Blossom".

Just bought this game. Took me a while...but I finally made a character I like.

I kept on making male elf characters but instantly discarded them and starting over as soon as I saw them in-game. I think the male elves look way too feminine, so I thought I may as well just make a female elf. I'm really pleased with how she looks.

Anyone have any tips for a first time player?

Been having random freezes and other issues. I've had them happen enough times to make me angry. I guess, once every 4 hours, I have something happen. Get stuck somewhere and I can't do anything, not even enter the game menu. Solution? Quit the game. Game freezes. Quit the game. Any other oddities. Quit the game.

I'm 60 hours in and have slain three dragons and done a lot of exploring but still much left to explore. I'd say five of those hours have been me being away from the game and just having the console on.

How is the online portion of the game? Is it easy to find game or is the community inactive by now?

1.6 GB update just started downloading for PS4

MP content? Black Emporium?

its not difficult to find games at all. I've put a lot of time into the multiplayer and find it to be a lot of fun. I'm a sucker for good co-op

I have not received an update yet. The last one was on the 3rd of March.

Interested in what's in the update... I've been holding off playing the game to see if this update fixes all of the last little niggles (got caught up playing other things/limited time) hopefully we get a change log.

Anyone know why I have 3 characters in Dragon Age Keep for Inquisitions, that say playthrough 2, playthrough 3 and current playthrough? Only played the game once.

Hi guys - I have just finished DA:I and I have read this:
http://kotaku.com/dragon-age-inquisitions-ending-explained-1671137779

And now I'm baffled - how can DA:I have this shitty, straight forward, shallow typical fantasy story while this is so interesting but so hidden. It does not make sense at all.

Having the talent to come up with that, they surely could have made the main story & villain much better than it was.

What the hell BioWare - so much potential but we only get very criptic glimpses, and only if we are careful and in the right circumstances.

Seems like some exec wanted a simplistic story udnerstandable to everyone, but the talents were able to smuggle at least so much depth. I don't know - this is so very confusing. I have high hopes for the DLC - please BioWare let this be Your retribution in terms of story...
