Any tips for me to beat
ogodemir
? I collected all
4 spirits
and now i am in front of the
final boss. In my team are the MC as a pirate, Melvin as the magic knight, maribel as a priest and gabo is the class with the fire breath attacks. The levels are between 30 and 33. I am able to beat his 1st stage but the 2nd one is too strong...

I had no problem what so ever although my characters were around level 38-42-ish. My set up was.

hero
monster masher
hero
paladin

I was mostly concentrating on healing and buffing with only 1 character doing main damage and everyone doing damage if they had full hp.

While I'm at it, I was also looking for people to send to the Haven. I found this list but I can't find 8, 9 and 10 (and someone else in that thread can't either, so I know I'm not alone) at the locations it lists. Wondering if anyone knows why?

So I'm close to 50 hours in and about to open up the very last island in the Shrine of Mysteries and I'm still encountering this same problem. I can't get any immigrants past the point of the Alltrades storyline to show up. Anyone know why this might be?

I might be dumb here but that list says there is one at the tavern in emberdale but where is the tavern there? Unless they meant the inn

So I went to The Haven and talked to everyone and then the others started to show up. I assumed I had already talked to everyone but I guess I must've missed somebody the first time around.

General endgame advice:
Your levels are OK but try moving beyond the basic classes. Maybe try to get Maribel up to a Paladin so you've got two people with Multiheal. Use Forbearance to absorb attacks that would kill the weaker party members.

Also look at your equipment, and choose items that reduce spell/fire damage. See if there's anything for sale at the Sea Dragon that might help, otherwise head to the casino and try the swaps game for some cool loot.

Prep everyone beforehand in terms of items too- make sure their spare item slots have good stuff. Give someone the salvation staff for free heals, magic water, Yggdrasil leaves for free revives etc.

Unless I was reading the damage wrong... I think I just did 910 damage

My endgame is now going to be "high score for highest damage in a single hit"

Ok guys I may have fucked up, my hero and Maribel are both at 20 at all trade abbey and they have seem to stop grow in Job levels which is rather annoying since I was planning to master everything, at this point ruff seems to be the only one leveling,,when do I start gaining again?

Each area has a level cap where if a character is beyond that cap then battles won't count towards vocation development. It kinda sucks but I can see why they did it. Just move on with the story and you'll be fine

Completely unrelated to this thread, but now that I'm done with FFIV (meh), I'm finally able to jump to Dragon Quest IV! Only IV, V and VI to go before I can play VII :)

OMG that framerate is so smooth

We gotta get a patch! AHHHH

Wow it's so night-and-day with the music and everything...100% different game. I can't believe our UI is so sluggish.

4 is the best game. Though they kinda butchered it a bit with all the speech localizations.

Just got to Alltrades Abbey and am in the midst of the story quest. Once it is done, what are 3 good starter vocations? Was thinking this:

Main guy - Warrior
Maribel - Mage
Ruff - Would love to steal monster magics to start out, is that a possiblity?

That reminds me...
*Reaches Nottegen*
"Wonder why it's called Nottegen for?"
*Arrives at Present Nottegen for the first time*
"Oh...."

Go Sailor for all 3 and max out that class, then teach them whatever. Lightning all day, every day.

I went monster classes after having Ruff master Monster Masher, but in hindsight I wouldn't learn intermediate classes if you are going to put him on monster classes for awhile because he loses those abilities until you put him back on that class, unless you're planning on using the Monster Masher abilities to collect monsters for monster meadows.

IMO I think a good strategy for tackling classes is to have everybody master Jester first with the slime tablet dungeon, as it is the fastest learning class and gives your characters some creature control abilities and it gets the class out of the way if you want Luminary at some point, then have DQ7 Guy and Meribel both start as Priest (which can learn Zing and works as a prerequisite for both physical and spellcasting classes) and Ruff as Shepard (which will give him an ability that sleeps all enemies) or Sailor (which learns Lightning), and as you progress the game you'll find monster hearts that unlock monster classes if they're held.

The earliest intermediate monster class I can think of you can get can be gotten with the Kingfuschia heart, Chimaera heart, and this alligator-turtle hybrid monster I forget the name of.

Also, if you are planning on getting advanced classes, which require multiple intermediate classes mastered, I highly recommend mastering all of the relevant tier 1 classes first as skills in intermediate classses don't carry over to each other or tier 1 classes (EDIT: Unless it's a from a monster class, meaning your character that is going monster classes will get to carry over the monster abilities)

I'd recommend Maribel starting off with Priest (so that you can get Zing quicker) and Ruff with probably Shepard.

So
The bridge from El Ciclo opened up, and I'm back at Greenthumb Gardens. After seeing the cutscene between Lavender and Dill, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I spoke to Dill, but nothing got triggered.

For reasons other posters have mentioned, I started with:

Main: Sailor for lightning
Maribel: Mage (I wanted boom and everybody learns Midheal eventually)
Ruff: Shepherd for sic em, lambpede, wooly blanket, and the sleep thing

Only issue later was that Main and Ruff both wanted to do thief next for Pirate and Monster Masher

Working on second intermediate class for all of them now, still use those OG skills from my first class picks

EDIT: making the most of the slime tablet early is a good suggestion in any case

Can 3DS get patches?

Yes.

I really miss the orchestral music. :(

It is a huge shame that we didn't get it. I'm still bitter about it.

Have you tried using party chat? Your party members will usually tell you what to do.

It's no way i'm ever gonna finish this game. I'm only 15 hours in and i'm already bored outta my mind.

The class system is gonna have to breathe some serious life into the combat to keep me playing.

if you ran out of things to do in greenthumbs, you can always go to
the new town the other dude built, which is to the east

As far as picking initial classes goes...if you're planning on doing any grinding at all to master some off the bat in Slimetree Forest or something, I actually recommend picking the same class for all three and repeating that over and over.

Because classes master at different rates, and if you happen to have one fast, one medium, and one slow, you're going to be wasting combats on some of those characters just to finish up the one guy before you go back to Alltrades and change again. Better to all master the same thing at the same time.

In that case my recommendation would be all priest, then all sailor, then all shepherd, then all warrior, then all thief. Something like that.

Apparently there is a major glitch that can be triggered in Aeolus Vale in the past.

Has anyone here experienced it yet?

I don't know what you're talking about but I have heard of a nasty glitch that can happen late game that I think most people would be glad to know about. Something found and discussed at GameFAQs.

Late game you have more than 4 party members and can switch who is active in your party. Well, in certain situations if you have Meribel in your party and view cutscenes during scenarios where she wouldn't normally be there, she disappears from your party and goes back to the place where you swap party members around...and stands intersecting another party member, glitched out:

From that point forward you will never be able to have more than 3 party members on your team. Which is really bad I guess because you need to have a 4 member team at endgame or the game crashes, from what I read.

Has something to do with going back to the past and viewing optional cutscenes you may have missed the first time around.

Essentially, late game and post game, always check to make sure you have 4 party members before you save.

Thread discussing it.

I'm a little confused on the vocation level limits. I was in the Nihil region leveling my vocations, then decided to complete the region, once I finished the region I started trying to finish off my vocations, but they weren't leveling up anymore, and my characters didn't level up. I'm just wondering if I complete a continent can I not level up my vocations?

^^^the *incomplete* faq at gamefaqs has a complete list of job advancement level limits, but you will probably spoil yourself by seeing the whole list of locations, plus maybe something else on the way.

So click at your own risk...

Each region has a limit on credit for vocation grinding. The limit is based on character level . After your character reaches a certain level, they will no longer receive credit towards vocation levels each battle.

That's what is confusing for me. My characters didn't level up but the vocation stopped.

IV is my favorite and although I don't mind the accents as much as others, I'd say the worst butchering was the removal of the party talk in the DS version. I've yet to play it on mobile yet despite owning it for a while now but damn did it suck when the DS version first came out.

I secretly wish for them to rerelease IV on a system with proper controller support just because we shouldn't have to worry about party talk getting gutted again. *knocks on wood*

Anyway, I finally reached the part where
Maribel leaves
. Sigh...

So I'm in the desert town in the past and
hadid just left to find the serpent God. A villager told me to go somewhere that only the heroes can go?
No clue what I'm supposed to do...

Am I misunderstanding what the monster meadows is for? A couple monsters after I fight them come back and want to be looked after. I tell them about monster meadows and they run off there. But when I go and check on them there; none are around. Just the same first slime-guy and that girl are there.

I go underground and head off to the actual meadows and just no monsters anywhere. What am I exactly supposed to be doing with this or is this just a late game thing that only opens up then?
