E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

Am I the only one who is happy they didn't show Star Fox? Don't want to see StarFox looking like those other two rough concepts. Want to see Starfox revealed in all it's graphical WiiU HD glory.

EAD In 1997: "Only with the power of a Nintendo 512 is a game like 'Project Robot Guard' possible.

Did anyone else catch that they're using some kind of USB loader/file explorer to select which demos to launch (YT stream)? I mean, of course they've got some internal tools, but it's cool to see from the outside.

Loving this Nintendo Treehouse presentation thing. You get even more information and actual game announcements. Hope they reveal more 3DS games through the day or tomorrow at that misterious roundtable!

About what? I just don't get it. I thought people would be happy to see some semi-internal concepts Nintendo has cooked up. We never get to see those.
It didn't look like it functioned well, and the core mechanics don't sound like they make for a good time.

The idea behind it could be sound, but what they showed wasn't even working for someone with intimate knowledge of the software. To call it rough is being kind. I don't mean anything more than that. If this was just a show of "Ideas in the oven." One was sound, the other was suspect.

X was my most anticipated title. But everything I've seen so far has been underwhelming. The character models were hideous in today's trailer. So I really hope the gameplay is cleaned up here.

Star Fox is a bigger project it seems. They probably didn't want to show too much of it as the demo won't reflect upon the final game well and they don't want it to come across as just an experimental thing.

It's in "full development".

I think it's about time to give up on the Gamepad, if those are the best titles one of the world's most accomplished game designers can come up with.

Both games looked kinda mediocre, and neither one really struck me as really needing a second screen/touchpad.

What's the difference between The Last Guardian and StarFox? Nintendo uses "full development" and says "next year" instead of using "full development" as a code-phrase for "cancelled".

Some Japanese games with the "X" in their names were meant to be pronounced "Cross" when said aloud, but some people seem to take that too literally and apply it to all games with an X in the title.

At least, that's what I think happened.

I've only ever seen the "Cross" used when it was two properties set against one another, like SF X Tekken.

How can you forget this classic?

So with Project Guard and Project Giant Robot being playable, could they be coming sooner than Star Fox? I figured all 3 would probably be out sometime next year.

Project Giant Robot looks almost ready. Maybe add some cutscenes for crazy pilots or something and add a bunch of robot parts and enemies.

I am honestly glad they decided to not show the Star Fox prototype. It was pretty much 3DS version ported to the Wii U with gamepad gimmicks. People would have written it off pretty quickly. I want to see the actual game.

Agreed 100%. Not only that, but it looked like the rest of Nintendo had moved on while Miyamoto was unwilling to give up his baby.

The Digital Direct did NOT focus on the gamepad. Their major success on the Wii U, MK8, does NOT use the Gamepad for anything of importance. Miyamoto is the last holdout, and judging by those demos he's really struggling with it.

This Treehouse format is really really great, I hope we get this every year. :D

It's such a good format. This way their conference/event doesn't feel bloated but at the same time all the info they want to share has its own dedicated time slot and isn't rushed. They can take their time and go through each game in detail. Also, it forces news outlets to constantly talk about Nintendo for 3 straight days. Brilliant move.

Isn't Zelda U going to be using the gamepad?

So is this or the robot game the new IP Miyamoto was showing off?

Dude, not for you doesn't mean not for anyone. I myself is happy for this two games (which, in case you were unaware, were made to be inexpensive eshop games). This Treehouse showing is to show off games both near completion and those ready for a showing. Now, quiet down and enjoy X
