Evans not proud of the Fantastic Four movies, decling Cap would have been a mistake.

I think Captain American is the weakest Marvel film. Its still alot better than F4 so there you have it.

I disagree.

His character in FF was the saving grace of that film. Without his character the film would have been a complete bore.

"Sunshine" and "Snowpiercer" dispel this. He can act if he is given the right material. And I don't think it's unusual for an actor to want a more challenging role. Just because you have been pigeon-holed by Hollywood, it doesn't mean you shouldn't fight against it. Look at Matthew McConaughey. Who'd thunk he'd be considered as a serious actor back then? I'd say you're crazy if you said this even 2 years ago.

He's kinda bad in Snowpiercer. Maybe it's the dialogue and direction.

Are we forgetting about Ghost Rider?

I wish we could have an Avengers/FF cross over -similar to the Avengers - Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series.

Everytime I think about that cartoon I get annoyed - why did they cancel after season 2?
Jeph Loeb happened. He wanted to take over with his own brand of Marvel animation.

Yep. I can't believe there are people who actually liked that first Captain America movie.

I'd rather watch The Love Guru twice in a row than watch 30 minutes of Captain America.
I can't believe there are people that can't believe there are people that.

It's funny, I much prefer the Captain America movies (well Cap 1 and Avengers so far) and yet I think the Human Torch was his better role. He was born to play that character and it's a real shame the movies around his performance were shitty.

I never thought the FF films were half as bad as people make them out to be. Doom was messed with, and Galactus screwed with too badly, yep. But the source material? Fantastic Four is goofy as shit. And the movies got that dead-on - the interplay with among the "family". Their take on heroism, etc. It was quite well done.

I started reading marvel comic outside of xmen/spiderman mainly from the Ultimate comics, it's a good starting point for me and I kinda like the early Ultimate Fantastic Four run, even with the goat leg Doom which I'm sure many people will hate. lol

what I like about it is because it have pretty unique tone, while Avengers, Xmen, and Spiderman are pretty grounded in tone, dealing with stuff like racism, politics and in case of Spiderman, just the highschool life of Peter Parker, the Ultimate Fantastic Four is so weird and over the top, the story deals with alternate dimension and stuff, it's a bit like Dr Who stuff. which is just fun.

It's pretty interesting to see the varying reactions the people who have come out in Marvel movies have had on their roles.

You got guys like Norton and Howard who's relationships with Marvel soured quickly and publicly. Then you have Hugo Weaving saying he wouldn't want to reprise his Red Skull in any future CA or Avengers movies or Mickey Rourke calling them out for making "mindless" movies. There's Jeremy Renner complaining about his brainwashing in the Avengers too.

And then there's Chris Evans, who seems on one hand to be very grateful for the movies but on the other also a bit weary of them based on his interviews. RD.Jr also seems a bit standoffish about the movies but he's also over 50 so I think he has more of a reason to be "ehhh" about doing more Marvel movies after his contract is up.

Really I think the only people I haven't seen any complaints or hints about dissatisfaction from are the guys in the Thor movies (Natalie Portman was apparently contractually forced to come back for Thor:TDW), Samuel L, Don Cheadle, and ScarJo.

I'd kind of love to see how some of the people who come out in these movies react after taking a meeting with Feige and co...

Weaving doesn't want to do any more Marve movies? I wonder what happened, that made him make that decision? As much as it would suck to have to replace another actor, at least with Red Skull you can have a believable reason for it. All you would have to do is say he's wearing a different mask.

Apparently the long hours. Eccleston had mentiones that a normal sesion is about 15 or more hours a day, between makeup sessions and other stuff i can tell is pretty demanding.

Wasn't it also the repeat roles as well? I think the only series that Hugo Weaving reprised a role was the Matrix?

Captain America was an okayish movie. The origin part was pretty good, but the whole section of the movie where he's being used as a stage puppet was dumb, and I would have much rather see him learning about his abilities and using them in combat, along with showing the stuff that he does to gain the experience to be as knowledgeable about tactics and strategy that he is. Instead we got a montage.

"We're gonna need a montaaage! MONTAAAAAAAAGE!"

I watched FF:2 the month. Its really mediorce, but it has charm. Its funny and the actors have chemistry like or not. Silver surfers scenes also look awesome. I'd put it on the level of Thor and Iron Man 2.

I kind of don't get the hate for Cap 1. It was an ok/good movie. Reviewed really well and made decent money.

Me neither, I liked it. It's a fun movie and it has some good action sequences, nothing you'll be thinking about later but still enjoyable. It did pretty well overall so I'm a bit surprised so many people on GAF hate it.

FF suck. You never hear anyone saying "Mr. Fantastic/Torch/Thing/Invisible woman is my favorite!!!11"

Everyone seems to be in Doom's kool-aid though

I really like Chris Evans as Cap, but when I heard about his casting I couldn't believe they didn't go with Aaron Eckhart. That dude screams Captain America.

Reading people hate on Captain America: The First Avenger makes me want to vomit. That was probably Marvel's most complete film since Iron Man 1 and easily a better film than Thor or Iron Man 2.

Ya'll tripping.

I thought Captain America was middle aged ?

At the time of his freezing, he was like 25.

Between Chris Evans doing not only Fantastic Four but also Scott Pilgrim I found it kind of surprising to hear that he was going to be cast as Cap - if only because he seems to have made it pretty clear that the kind of character he brings to Johnny Storm is pretty much the closest thing to his actual real life demeanor. But as far as his acting chops go he ended up being a real breakout for me. Say what you will about the movies themselves but Chris is a natural in his role as Cap. He pulls off the noble and humble patriotic, yet not obnoxious, super hero so well.

The Winter Soldier ought to stand as one of his best movies ever done.

It's watchable like most Marvel movies (the ones from Marvel themselves).

Yeah. I might be one of the one people who actually got a good deal of enjoyment out of every single Marvel Studios film to date. Some are better than others, but they could be a lot worse. They could be Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider or Daredevil.

Most of Captain America 1 was good fun. In my opinion Avengers, Iron Man 1, and Captain America are the 3 best MCU movies and the rest are closer to average quality than not (which is good for a superhero movie considering flops like Fantastic Four). From Fantastic Four I can't even remember anything except Ms. Alba. Damn shame that they turned Silver Surfer into a forgettable film character.

Yea Natalie Portman supposedly wasn't happy at all that they went with a different director in Thor 2; she wanted a female one in Patty Jenkins.

Superhero movies are probably soul crushing experiences for actors. Green screen, sweaty costumes, generally mindless story, cringe-worthy dialogue, zero chance of an Oscar, and perhaps even worse: a lifetime of being associated with the character in public ala Dave Chappelle and his jokes.
