Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII Media and Information Thread of OP Not Changing For Months at a Time

I wish S-E would release info faster. :(

Although I think once the demo hits there will be a nice stream of content plus a release date at the end of it.

Agito looks fucking rad btw.

Demo in March 2009?!?!?!
No freaking way. RE5 comes out and a demo of XIII? Holy shit March if that's true. I loved XII so much that I am so insanely excited for these games. I might even have to get a PSP if Agito is good.

The demo only comes packaged with Advent Children Complete in Japan.

It's coming with the Advent Children Blu-Ray in Japan.

I don't know if anyone has heard yet, but does anybody know if Advent Children Complete will have English on the disc from the beginning? I can justify getting the film+demo if it's in English as my fiancee likes it anyway (... :( ), but if not, then I won't be importing it :(

I know I've read the future, present, past thing before, but maybe you should point out the games take place in separate universes. People will think it's literally the future, present, and past of one world.

i do believe ACC has english on the disc, yeah
i remember reading it on a promo thing, hopefully someone else can confirm this too

Anything with ATB is technically not turn based. That leaves you with 1, 2, 3, and 10 for the pure turn based entries.
I would consider ATB, turn-based. It just uses different way to determine who's turn is next.

Unless I remember incorrectly, once the ATB gauge filled up, no one else could do anything until the character decided what to do next.

I haven't played one in a while, so maybe i remembered incorrectly.

Press release for it says 'multiple language' so it's probably safe to assume so.

Will be expanding the OP later today.

I do have high resolution pictures of the logos, let me upload them.

I would too. Truthfully it never even occurred to me that someone might consider then a different type of system.

I suppose my definition would be anything that pauses the action on a given characters turn would be turn based.

Anything in real time would be an action type of system.

That IS incorrect, which is why ATB IS NOT turn-based. :p

I'm probably more strict than you are.

I consider both FFXII to be turn based systems, since they both use 'turns' to determine when actions take place. Even though these turns happen kinda fast and you can unknowingly skip a turn.

I noticed, for FFXII at least, that magic takesa variable time to cast depending on what else is going on, like opponents casting magic or if a fast melee unit is dealing multiple hits, the casting will take a bit longer.

Nonetheless, you could view it as merely skipping a turn or delaying it.

Maybe this is better. Only one person is taking an action at a given time.

Only pauses if you have it in wait mode. Default is active :-D Either way it's still not turn based, it just lets you pause.

Goddamn you, Square-Enix. Throw us a fucking bone. :( Have at least some new information at Jump Festa instead of old trailer + 1 new second of footage.

ATB is turn based.

Each character has to wait their next turn to attack. A free system means you can attack anytime you want. Which isn't the case.

example: in the tales game you can attack at any moment you want as many times as you want.

You know, it doesn't matter if ATB is turn based or not. We should stop discussing past FF games in here :P This thread is about future games ^^

Sorry everyone for shortly derailing the thread.

Well we are going to get a huge amount of media in the next few weeks. The Famitsu DVD will have the DK Sigma trailers that we didn't see, the Cloud book has new interviews and development pictures, and then there is Jump Festa where the first gameplay footage will allegedly be shown.

at this point, I'm most excited by Agito, I have no reasoning behind this.

Past, Present and Future... I should hope that playing them out of order won't be an issue. I don't want to play Verses first to find out that the main character of Agito is currently king or some shit like that.

I'm also looking forward to Agito the most at the moment. I only recently got Crisis Core and I really like the battle system, so knowing Agito is an evolution of that makes me excited for it. It probably also makes it the only one of the FNC games so far where there is a tangible sense of how it'll actually play.

And the Past/Present/Future thing is a little misleading. It's not meant to imply that they all take place in the same world.

Any word on whether or not this will be released in the US? I'd import, but Blu-rays are region locked.

Most blu-rays are actually region free... and if you live in the US, you're the same region as Japan anyhow.

Oh. I guess I'd just have to worry about the language barrier then. And the price.

What the hell is going on in that FFXIII logo? :lol

2 girls 1 goat?

FFXIII is really a remake of The Last Unicorn.

Looks like the FFXIII logo is Shiva and Fenrir.

To me, the woman is clearly transforming into the unicorn.

What I think.

No idea if it continues morphing into that big horn at the bottom of the egg thingy (Cocoon? Crystal?) and then into that wavy stuff, or that's just something else though.

XIII has the most interesting (and best-looking) logo of the three imo.

Man, i love Final Fantasy releases. It's the biggest splurge on grand production values in games. 40 hours worth of art assets and animation and music bombarding you.

Amen to that.

You know what I hate about this thread? Is that we can't talk about one game without talking about the other. "Oh FFXIII looks great!" 'I'm personally looking foward to Versus XIII much more!" Who gives a shit! They should have never announced these games uner this whole Fabula Nova Crystalis crap, the storylines have nothing to do with each other, neither does the gameplay. Totally different RPG's, it's just some marketing scheme by SE.

I think in the bottom left it is Carbunkle's tail.

Or something. Maybe summons are really important in the game.

It's definately Shiva in the FFXIII logo. It's also one of the least interesting Final Fantasy logos in some time. You can't tell what the hell it is until you take a closer look it just looks like a big swirling ball. It's not very iconic like FF7, FF8 and FF12 logos.

Do people really still think this? Sorry Sony lied when the Ps3 launched...the 360 can do anything the Ps3 can.

I need more Agito info! The supposed FFXI relation with classes sounds awesome. With some online multiplayer thrown in it could be very interesting.

Eh, probably. But I like the concept at least. :)

Now that you mention it, maybe it is. :o

And summons do seem to have more importance this time around, no idea how much though.

So was this thread made because if the news is coming soon? If so when are we expected to get it?

The Reply book comes out on Saturday and has a bonus DVD with various trailers and videos most of us haven't seen. The CLOUD Message book comes out on Friday. Think that has art and interviews or something like that like the Reply book.

I good quite happily go for an IX-esque summon level of importance again.

Two books will be out soon, and I'll have one of them... not sure if I'll get Cloud message yet though D:
Plus, Jump Festa is on the 20th, so something should come out of there.

Re: The Logos

It might just be the similarities to Cosmos from Dissidia, but I think they will represent each individuals interpretation of the central mythology.

I'm going to say that somehow the 2 people (deities?) in the XIII logo and the 2 in the Agito logo have some connection.

As for the Versus logo, their is a goddess, almost certainly the one that's been mentioned before and features in the Amano portrait used in game.

versus03.jpg

There is also a dragon. 2 theories spring to mind here. Either the Dragon correlates to the Unicorn in the XIII logo as some sort of divine animal. Or the 2 figures in the Agito logo are meant to be in conflict, opposing sides, and the Goddess/Dragon correlates to that.

Also there are the circles in each logo. The XIII one is different because it is larger, and has designs on it which could represent the Cocoon. Given that the rest of the Agito logo is coloured differently except for the circle which is exactly the same as in the Versus logo, it does suggest that they represent some common significant element.

Or I could have read way, way too much into it.
