I believe it has been confirmed through interviews that FFXIII will be delayed until it is fully ported to 360. Gotta wonder how much longer that's going to make us have to wait.

I know that was the case initially, but now I'm hearing stuff about a FFXIII Asia release for 360, so perhaps it's everywhere now?

I'll be importing it day one Japan. Have they even started working on the 360 version yet? Could be 2 more years now for the rest of the world now :/

Porting will begin once the PS3 Japanese version is shipped to stores.

According to Square Enix, the 360 version hasn't delayed anything. After the PS3 version (JPN) is done, another team will handle the 360 version, and localization will take place alongside that. Apparently work on the 360 version hasn't begun yet, and isn't a primary concern until the game is finished.

...Or something like that.

And looking at the screenshots for XIII, I hope the font doesn't change, as I really I like it. It's plain, large and clear. Not a fan of really stylized fonts. :P

God that's fucking annoying.

I agree. The font they used in the FFXII narration sections was horrible. D:

Ugh you and me both. Whoever that comes up with the idea of stylized fonts for JP text should be shot. Kingdom Hearts games were pretty rough :(

Has Squares home studio done a 360 title yet? I know we have seen plenty from Tri-ace but what about SE themselves?

Hope it doesn't take too long to port... at the same time I am trying not to get too hyped.

The Last Remnant is the only 360 game by Square staff so far I think, unless something slipped by me.

That one's Unreal Engine, unless Crystal Tools has some part of Unreal Engine in there that can help Squeenix get a headstart upon the start of 360 FFXIII port development. o_o

It does not.

One potential problem is that if the 360 port process takes longer than localization, then the oversea releases will be delayed because of that.

So hopefully porting goes well and doesn't delay NA/PAL release.

So realistically speaking for FF XIII: PS3 Demo in Spring 09 -> PS3 Japan release Fall 2009 -> Multi release 2010?

Ugh.. over a year.

If FFXIII is out in 2009 over in Japan, where does that leave DQIX? They won't release both in the same fiscal year.

I'm not sure which one we'll see first.

Maybe it won't take that long. Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remenant had near simultaneous releases and Star Ocean 4 is coming to America a month after the Japanese version. Maybe they'll release Final Fantasy XIII as soon as possible too.

The NA release is delayed until the 360 port is done though...

Oh is it? Good news.

Those games have seemingly had localization done during development. From what it's sounding like, most of the localization work on XIII won't be started until the game is finished in Japan.

I thought SE was going to try to bring other areas/decrease localization time for their futures games in the futre. So we could very well see FF13 in NA exceptionally fast once it releases in JPN?

S-E has never waited until a game is literally completed before beginning localization and porting processes before, nor is there any reason whatsoever to do so. The point of those interviews is that the Kitase and Toriyama's team has nothing to do with the port themselves and won't be involved with it when it does start, not that the company will literally wait until after the Japanese version ships to begin the steps needed to produce a port. This rapidly spreading meme that there's going to be a 14 month window or whatever before the US release is ridiculous.

Re: The Logos

It might just be the similarities to Cosmos from Dissidia, but I think they will represent each individuals interpretation of the central mythology.

I'm going to say that somehow the 2 people (deities?) in the XIII logo and the 2 in the Agito logo have some connection.

As for the Versus logo, their is a goddess, almost certainly the one that's been mentioned before and features in the Amano portrait used in game.

versus03.jpg

There is also a dragon. 2 theories spring to mind here. Either the Dragon correlates to the Unicorn in the XIII logo as some sort of divine animal. Or the 2 figures in the Agito logo are meant to be in conflict, opposing sides, and the Goddess/Dragon correlates to that.

Also there are the circles in each logo. The XIII one is different because it is larger, and has designs on it which could represent the Cocoon. Given that the rest of the Agito logo is coloured differently except for the circle which is exactly the same as in the Versus logo, it does suggest that they represent some common significant element.

Or I could have read way, way too much into it.
I've wondered for a while if Dissidia was at some point intended to be a part of Fabula Nova Crystalis in some sense, or if at least its ideas came from similar places (in the same way that Edea was originally conceived of for Final Fantasy 7, etcetera). The mythology is starting to look like it might be somewhat similar, and Dissidia as a subtitle is awfully similar in origin to Versus, Agito, and the oft-rumored Haerasis. I'm not saying it's SECRETLY A FNC GAME, just that some of the ideas going into its origin inevitably came from the same general teams of people and that it might have a good bit in common with Fabula Nova Crystalis simply out of serendipity.

Hopefully we won't have to repeat this too many times but: The NA version is out whenever the 360 port is finished.

I'm very excited for all 3. Versus, not so much, but Agito, very much so.

I guess that would be due to how little info and screens have been shown of Versus gameplay. Only a few have been in-game and what's been show has no combat, over-world, or anything to be excited about.

Agito however, is looking so beautiful. It makes me wonder if the party members on the combat screens are other PSP players or just typical party members. And even if it's the latter, the screens look incredible.

It is actually. I like the older face more, it looked more ¿natural? that new chin is a bit weird

I'm not really convinced that these two pictures are different. Yeah the chin looks longer and the face less rounded on the 'new' one, but this could be an artefact of the Photoshopping job. I think there need to be a real full on colour version in order the make a proper comparison.

Her spikes of hair are clearly different on the left.

So let me get this straight:

There's three SE events to look forward to.

Cloud Message (What is this?)

Re: Replay (DVD with trailers of the three XIII titles, but anything else?)

Jump Festa 2009 (What's the date for this?)

No doubt the DVD trailers will get put into the net, but what's Cloud Message supposed to be, and I presume Jump Festa will be closed theater as usual?

CLOUD is a little book that I think has art and interviews and stuff. Releases on the 12th.

The Replay book is another book with art and stuff. Releases on the 13th. Also comes with a DVD with videos:

Final Fantasy XIII (From the DK event)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (From the DK event)
Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Jump Festa 2008 (December 2007))
Dissidia Final Fantasy (TGS 2008)
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete (TGS 2008)
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (TGS 2008)
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (Jump Festa 2008 (December 2007))
Kingdom Hearts Coded (From the DK event)
The 3rd Birthday (From the DK event)

Jump Festa is on the 20th iirc. Don't think we know if there'll be any closed theaters, but don't quote me on that one.

See this is a difficult proposition for me. I understand enough Japanese that I would understand the story and the dialog, but I have a feeling I'll miss out on some of the subtle nuances a story heavy RPG like this will undoubtedly have.

Regardless, I'll be importing WKC, but I may need to curb my RPG lust this time :(

My hope (cross fingers) is that the JP version (or Asian version) will have English subs. If so day one

If that's true, then that's a horrible move by Square Enix.

Given we have no Japanese release date, and not even a sniff of a US/Euro release, and no idea what the 360 porting will entail, or the simultaneous localisation, speculating on what will be holding back what is pointlessly uninformed.

The Last Remnant has an Asian NTSC/J version in English that works on US consoles. Who knows? Maybe SE is starting to make money selling in Asia and might do the same for FFXIII

This is true. Perhaps I was a bit hasty to assume in my last post. Seeing those screenshots just makes me realize how long it's been since a Kitase branded Final Fantasy. I suppose much will depend on the size/skill of the team SE assign to the project.

Edit: To the poster below: So have I, and I bought a 360 after the game was announced for it (No PS3 yet). Both systems deserve a quality build.

Yeugh, hopefully it'll be the latter. I've already waited much too long for this game.

I'd love to import, but I don't understand a lick of Japanese....That really grinds me gears!

Jump Festa the 20th? Here's to hoping for SOMETHING...
