It IS free. It's not really a game, more of a visual novel with some branching points. Act 1 is the same, mostly, then Acts 2-4 are basically different graphic novels with the character you end up with that leads you to either their good ending or their bad ending.

I failed. It all started as soon as it showed the pictures of her doing everything she and Jack talked about and then it got worse.
