What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

The celibacy part of the defined by choice part? The only two i know of are abstinence for the celibacy and agency for the defined by choice part.

neither. theres a term specific to not having sex because you just can't seem to get it despite wanting it

Ah. I feel like that's self explanatory enough to not need a term

For real though, I think you guys are too focused on labels and stuff. Just fucking who you wanna and love who you wanna.

All the labels are so reductive and just serve to segregate people.

asexual/heteroromantic maybe demisexual

thats making assumptions about the lack of caring though

I do fit in that group though.

Most asexual people that I know tend to be against the idea of anything sexual, not so much that they don't care.

I don't know what group I'd fit into because my interests tend to contradict each other (like swimming and rain but hate being cold or getting wet. That kind of thing)

both are considered asexual but as with all things in this conversation, its a scale. heck its possible to enjoy sex and be asexual

personally i dont' feel sexual attraction so i fit somewhere in there

Asexual heteroromantic.

But for real, I don't know if you're asexual or not.

I legit thought I was asexual for a good while from like 16 to maybe 20ish? I think I'm probably just hetero it's just the sexual attraction is fairly innocuous and low key. So yeah maybe demi.

Yep :c

Oh god I'm so tempted to say something completely uncalled for and offensive.

I want to hear this now, hit me

IMO that kind of stuff is only useful on the internet and even then barely so, it's like astrology for the tumblr age, self-identified and biased.

I'm probably being pretty reductive here, people like being able point to a term or word to describe their general attitude, but the reliance on and attachment to these terms are odd.

I'm just old.

labels are useful for recognition. without them, people are assumed to be broken parts of the majority rather than having something that is different than most people assume

its definitely has the drawbacks like you mentioned though

Well it's one of those things that is hard to specify. You're talking about your body chemistry and it's interactions with others. So while you may have no interests now you could meet someone whose pheromones completely make you ragingly horny.

I think it's one of those things where it's useful to help someone not feel alone. Being able to label yourself in a certain way that other people do makes it so that you don't just feel like you're the only person like that. It can be quite comforting, at least in my experience

That's not quite the scale of asexuality I'm referring to. I'm talking on a scale of "eh..." to "hell no" when it comes to anything related to sex.

I have a preference towards the romance side of a relationship but I'm not opposed to sex. I'd assume that the sex would scale with the level of passion in the relationship unless you're into no string attached sex.

It'd be interesting to study the dynamics of these groups, if it magnifies their perceived feelings about sex (or whatever).

Say, for instance, someone who had assumed they were asexual suddenly found themselves feeling less than asexual; would they focus on ignoring these feelings for not wanting to be alienated from their social group?

I'm turning into a lobster. Oh no.

Task for the day, I want everyone who bothers to read/react to this post to share a song that never fails to make them happy. Whatever the reason for it may be, just a song that will always better your mood.

Mine's Tycho - A Walk something about airy moogs set my brain chemistry right.
