I think it's one of those things where it's useful to help someone not feel alone. Being able to label yourself in a certain way that other people do makes it so that you don't just feel like you're the only person like that. It can be quite comforting, at least in my experience

That'd be fine if society didn't feel the need to operate on a label hierarchy.

It'd be interesting to study the dynamics of these groups, if it magnifies their perceived feelings about sex (or whatever).

Say, for instance, someone who had assumed they were asexual suddenly found themselves feeling less than asexual; would they focus on ignoring these feelings for not wanting to be alienated from their social group?

the issue though is that the default (in our culture) is that you by default assume you are sexual though don't consider a label. the fact that the term asexual exists, allows you to chose something other than the norm (sexual). you assume there is something wrong with you when society thinks you should be sexual

honestly this argument bothers me a bit because it reminds me of how people discount homosexual and transgender people by assuming they fell for the allure of the title rather than it being a choice they made.

Vazra

irresponsible vagina leak
Im hungry but there are visitors at home and I dont wanna show my just woke up mug or my potential dragon breath. FML

This is a good point. Like I said before, I'm all for people having the label, but the attachment to the label confuses me.

Sorry if I offended :(

You mean basically me? :p

I mean, in my situation I wasn't that involved in any communities but they always seemed super accepting of whatever and accepted that sexuality was a fluid thing

you didn't offend. its a worthwhile thought to have. its just unfortunately one that people use for the wrong conclusions

its sorta similar to when people say black history month and stuff is discriminatory for saying that black history is separate from every other history. its missing the point (and i thought that way for a bit unfortunately but i did figure it out eventually)

more or less the problem isn't the people using the label for themselves but the people who cause the separation in the first place for the label to exist. we really can't realistically expect them to change unfortunately

I'd like to change my music answer to Carly Rae's "Never Get to Hold You"

really everything from EMOTION is good, buy it on Amazon and iTunes today

Never Get to Hold You is sad tho!

[edit]:

Almost as sad as Carly Fiorina's political career.

As long as social awareness is spread that sexuality can be a fluid thing and a rigid thing from person to person then these types of more vocal groups can't really be a "bad" thing.

Thanks to Ka-Blam, They Might Be Giants will forever be the Dr. Worm band for me.

Have you heard Particle Man?

Right, if we had better acceptance of different types of sexuality then these labels wouldn't be needed as much. Men especially are taught that if they have anything other than (1) sexual thought every (7) seconds they are broken in some way. If someone were unaware of others who has similar sexual desires as them they might think they personally were broken instead.

So I can see where these natural groupings are helpful to quite a few people, and were probably going on long before the internet existed but in a more local can quiet way.

that last page discussion on sexual labels was something else.

I'm simply a heterosexual male with extremely specific taste. which may or may not make me delusional.

typically I enjoy more subtle make-up on women. (the exception being my weakness for red lipstick)

I saw this advertisement today and I thought it was really cool looking
