my family is generally nice but passive aggressive and completely unaware of certain things(probably) so generally I'm able to deal with them but i have that occasional day where i feel trapped. its generally not bad enough to make me uncomfortable daily though and tbh anyway, normally my anxiety paralyzes me instead of driving me to do things so i probably have a better opportunity now than if it got worse
but yeah I have a job and money in the bank so i could easily afford it. and also some furniture and a car

It's only been what, a month?One thing to understand about politics is that it's tribal more than intellectual or anything else, but tribalism is rarely what it's actively attributed to by the participants. HN's father doesn't even really seem like a bad guy, he's just configured a certain way (that I find baffling, of course) when it comes to certain topics. I think he's wrong, but you can't change people like that, and because politics are tribal any intellectual debate would just result in each side spinning their wheels.
..Which is why you should pretty much avoid political debate all together. People do change in their politics, sure, but it tends to be gradually and over time. You might chip away at someone over a long period of time, but you won't make any ground over a firefight.
