I've used Lua for quite some time. But metatables still confuse the hell out of me. Completely baffling.

Songs don't have to have a pop hook to be enjoyable. But something has to hook me otherwise why the fuck would I listen to it?
I'm not going to listen to a song I'm not connecting with just so I can say I listened to it and it was a revelation.

yeah they're very related. sometimes they're used the same way but dream pop tends to be more poppy and shoegaze a bit more focus on the wall of sound than specific melodies and vocals. more of a fan of the dream pop side personally
in fact for slowdive wikipedia lists them as dream pop also (tbh its not good to listen to wikipedia about genres)

True, the tables are pretty cool. But doing something simple like inheritance with metatables gives me an headache when trying to grasp.
Although I pretty much spend all my time with C# anyway.
