It's one of the most intrusive UI's I've ever seen.
I agree with you, it is intrusive.

edit: also, I agree 100% that it is intrusive and in-YO-FUCKIN'-FACE as hell, and doesn't seem to care that you have been playing for 6 hours, and know how to run.
But, I think the map and the backpack and everything else is "serviceable." Not great, def. could be better, but not horrible.
Oh please.

What are you "oh pleasing?"
It was a shitty way to spoiler something. Deal with it and learn. You ultimately said, Vaas is awesome character, major story spoiler. You had absolutely no context to what your spoiler was about.

This game has like the best hallucination sequences ever! Vaas is also truly a great character –
sucks that I just killed him! :(
Neytiri...I mean Citra, is a really cool character too.

The game at this point is giving me major AVATAR vibes. I admire the variety, but the core gameplay just isn’t doing it for me. I’ll finish it then gift it to my brother for Christmas.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MightyWhitey

A common trope in 18th and 19th century adventure fiction, when vast swathes of the world were being explored and properly documented by Europeans for the first time, Mighty Whitey is usually a displaced white European, of noble descent, who ends up living with native tribespeople and not only learns their ways but also becomes their greatest warrior/leader/representative. Extra points if he woos The Chief's Daughter along the way; an unfortunately common variation that perpetuates into present-day media is that she will continue to love our hero even if he is directly responsible for the death of her husband, brother or even father.

HUD off, loving it. The PrintScrn option wasn't cutting it, as it screwed up the sun in shots.

I just got an .dll edit from a friend that removes the HUD, but leaves most of the Audible clued that you can do something. Love it. It really seems strange that Ubi didn't think to give a minimum HUD/no HUD as an option.

Oh yeah, the wingsuit... how does the parachute work? It says to press CTRL to use it, but I don't even know if it's working for me. Half the time I end up faceplanting into the ground and dying instantly, so now I try to aim for bodies of water... obviously this isn't ideal. Do I have to slow up or do anything in particular before the parachute will work?

You changed croutch to CTRL? If so, hit c on your kb to deploy. I think it's a bug, where it doesn't bind all "c" functions to whatever you set it to with a rebind.

Wingsuit controls aren't configurable at all. Fucking pisses me off, because I use ESDF for movement and A for crouch. This has happened in multiple PC ports recently... vehicle controls aren't configurable.

That sucks. Is it really that tough to make an if/than set up for key bindings?

I loved those. I take it they represent the descent into madness.

Alice in Wonderland can be interpreted as Alice descending into insantiy. Which honestly is the correct way to look at the story. Nearly everyone she meets is also insane.

I get it now - it's indeed a nice touch. On my way to the second island now, but a thought about what happened before:

I think the Ink Monster boss fight was really cool. The Vaas hallucination battle was cool too, and the music was nice. Saying goodbye to his friends and Liza... man, that was tough. Jason is losing it, man.

Yeah that basically happens every time you shoot them.

Yeah. It's funny when you make yourself invisible in the editor and shoot one of them. They're catch and charge around aimlessly. They won't die and sometimes just stand around wondering what they should do while they're engulfed in flames.

Between the Komodos and the Cossawaries, the area around the old mines is the closest a game has come to JP in years, why doesn't somebody at Square/UBI greenlight a goddamn Dino survival game with this engine already

This fucking game.

So much methodology, randomness, and adventure wrapped into one.

I normally hate first-person-shooters, but something about this game just makes it more of a choose-your-own-adventure. Rambo Edition.

Everyone jokes about this, yet everyone know this be true. It needs to happen already. Appease my childhood dreams already devs.

Does anyone else think
Buck's
"Australian" accent is really off? Reminds me of the Australian accents in that simpsons episode lol.

I'm on board with this. Surely with the level editor... some modder types wont find it hard to add in some additional dino models.

So much fun with mines c4 shooting out tires. Everything is so connected. This game...

If it doesn't sell millions something is wrong with the gaming world.

Komodos are scary. You get like five of them on you and you better have some good ammo on hand. I saw three of them fuck up a whole group of pirates.

Box art quote of the generation right here! ;)

I need the goddam wing suit already! I'm tired if using the zip lines on the radio towers I just want to leap off the damn thing and go soaring...the wait is killing me

So yesterday I saw a tiger mauling two bad guys. They were on what was basically a mini island. I walked up to the tiger, got it's attention and ran straight for the water. He jumped in and immediately died. What I didn't know is that there was another tiger a few feet away. He too jumped in and sank to the bottom. So crafting whatever it was I needed was as simple as diving down a couple of feet and skinning drowned animals.

Also, what's the purpose of flaming arrows? I shot one at an enemy and it just fizzled out. I thought he was gonna go up in flames. He didn't even die.

EDIT: Protip for hunting missions or hunting dangerous game in general: You can use the "animal repellant" injection prior to shooting themand they won't attack you even after you've shot them. I use this for the missions where all you get is a bow to hunt rare animals and it's worked great.

Flaming arrows suck. Explosive arrows are the best and what bow users need to have in their arsenal. It wrecks everything and everyone.

Yeah I thought the same thing too. It doesnt even seem to hurt them if you shoot em with the arrow directly or set them on fire. Something is bugged with the fire arrows thats for sure.

Id say explosive arrows are the easy button. Other folks am sure would have as much fun with the fire ones if they just worked correctly. Since currently they really seem to do jack shit. Ive tried it out with several stacks and really no reason to use them in the current state which is unfortunate.

Some more random fun last night. I repaired a vehicle for some guys, and in the process I placed C4 on their hood. I chased them as far as I could on foot and set off the C4 when they were by the ocean shore. I guess that explosion set off a barrel because in about a minute the little wooden houses near there were all on fire. On another occasion I was climbing a radio tower and heard screams below. 2 guys were being attacked by 5+ Komodo Dragons. I zoomed in with my scope and watched them die miserable deaths. One of them tumbled down a mountainside after he died.

Meh I dunno, maybe I expected more along the lines of Skyrim, but I feel like so much outside of the campaign is wasted potential. There hardly is a reason to go exploring, as it doesn't lead to much meaningful stuff, let alone actual story (and thus adventure). Hunting is nice, but I've seen it now. Challenges? bleh. I'm just sticking to the campaign now.

I like the game, but I wish they made the open world more meaningful.

Errr... I guess some people just find it, you know, fun. And stuff. I do!

Not saying that you shouldn't. It's just that I don't find it leads to many interesting results. (almost) no story, change in scenery, unique items, etc. Little gratification for me. There's some of that of course, but not as much as I had hoped.
