Far Cry 3 |OT| Sex, Drugs, and the Call of Battle in the Uncharted

"Man, this heat. Someone just fucking shoot me."

NEVER gets old.

BURNS LIKE A MOTHER WHEN I PEE, SHOULDA USED A RUBBER

I think the barks in this game are the most repetitive I've ever seen. They make "get out of here Stalker" seem as rare as a white belly tapir.

What's the point of medicine in Far Cry 3?

Why is it worth making medicine when you can heal yourself without it?

Syringes are much quicker to use in the midst of combat. Useful on Warrior when you can only take minimal damage before going down.

Medicine almost always heals you more than bandaging yourself. Plus it's faster - a quick dart in the arm vs. a slow animation of bandaging or shrapnel removal or bullet extraction. Plus you can only heal yourself without medicine when critical - you can always use medicine to "top off" as it were.

I mean, we're talking like maybe 3 seconds difference.
I feel like the medicine is rather worthless except for the hardest difficulty. Weird design choice, I guess.

I've been perfectly fine running through the game snapping my thumb back into place on Medium difficulty.

Just finished the compass mission for Buck...awesome.

Aside from the two escort missions the game has been pretty great. I do think the game waits entirely too long to give you the wingsuit though.

I think medicine heals more health bars. Healing without medicine is like a band-aid.
You'll eventually get Epinephrine which will boost your health considerably.

My only problem with the healing stuff are the animations. Robs it a bit of its immersion value when Brody bandages the exact same spot on his arm three times in a row.

Man the co op is so disappointing. I really hope someone manages to mod the PC version to allow for people to dick around on the main island in co op.

Ya, very early on I upgraded healing without medicine to 2 bars. Been fine since.

Exactly, the medicine is not only faster (don't overlook that aspect...when you are getting jumped by a tiger, you don't want to start wrapping a bandage around your arm lol) but it also regen ALL my health (I have the maximum I can get from skills without the serynge thing to add more).

Actually, the only problem I have with it is that I never saw any of those special healing animation because I always had at least 4-5 medecine on me.

When you have 6 bars, taking 3 sec to heal 2 bars is useless.

Is there a way to heal yourself without medicine when you have medicine? Would be nice not to "waste" a syringe when I only want to heal a bar or 2 with first aid.

Nope, just have to waste it or not heal. I waste so many, because I have an FPS compulsion to always try to be at absolute max health and max ammo with a freshly reloaded magazine as often as humanly possible.

Yeah I don't like running around without full health when I can, at least green leaves are easy to find and medicine syringes cheap to buy.

You know how the Rakyat are like the finest warriors in the land or whatever? I saw one guarding a quadbike, he let me have it. Turned around at some noise, he was being savaged by three dogs and died. What an amazing warrior.

I'm getting hella motion sickness, any way to turn the motion blur off?

His contributions to the clan will be honored and remembered. The island is a savage place, Darwinism in action.

You can't be a bitch on this island.

Most of the side quests in this game are absolutely lazy shit. It's such a waste that nice environments are created for a 30 second run about for 3 items.

Can anyone recommend some decent ones? I just did pinned to earth, that was kinda cool for those who like ghost stories.

On the hardest difficulty I still find medicine to still be pretty useless. 99% of the time I use it without realizing the I picked it up somewhere.

standing right on top of them. According to the map legend / icon, the symbol for the storage caches looks like a diamond (or some faceted gem).

I just started the game, and am on the first mission in which I am to hunt a boar and also obtain a bunch of plants.

I noticed these diamond-like symbols appearing on my map, and when I checked what they stood for (in the map legend), they are supposedly storage caches. However, I can position my character's icon directly over one of these storage cache icons, and there is absolutely nothing there.

Help! What am I doing wrong?

Sorry in advance, if this question has come up or been asked before.

Could be in a cave, underground.

Btw, does anyone know if the diamond is the same as Assassin's Creed's treasure box icons?

They're in a cave under you. Look at the map for irregular black shapes near your location, those signify cave entrances.

Okay, makes sense.

Thanks Riposte and Spat_triate!

LOL, I was getting so frustrated I was even looking up over my head, into the trees, to see if any of these caches/crates were hiding amongst the branches.

This game is a monumental success. Sure, the story is garbage, but it's so much fun to play...and fun is exactly what was missing in Far Cry 2.

A pure triumph for the developers and fans of the series.

you have me on ignore genius, i replied to your pm right after you sent it. -__-
now you're drama queening a message i thought you sent me in confidence, classy.

Then I apologize for that particular comment, I didn't know ignore also blocked PM:s. From your other comments since then, it seems you're still intent on belittling me and my opinions. What you actually should be doing is a) ignoring the person if you can't stand their opinions or b) engage them in discussion directly and adress their actual arguments instead of attacking them personally.

I just finished messing around with 2 HUD mods:

1) Full HUD/Message removal - completely blank screen. No map, no messages, nothing.

2) Partial HUD/Message removal. No mini map, but things like way points, those 'go here dots' (key for supply missions) and 'PRESS E TO ____' remain. The ammo counter, armour and health blocks have been rendered nearly transparent.

I have to say that #2 is much better since the game lacks the necessary tools/design to work without a hud. And not having that awful mini map makes a heck of a difference.

Really wish Ubi had taken the time to add toggle options to the HUD, as the console versions are likely going to stay frozen with the shitty HUD bits. It's the only part of the game that really gets on my nerves.

That these mods are already surfacing is very encouraging. It seems waiting to see what else they can fix is not a bad idea.

In the further adventures of Stupid Rakyat Warriors, a patrol just dropped off one guy, they stopped for a smoke, and then one of the hopped in the car, ran the other guy over, and drove off.

Awesome.

The guy in bad town who always tells the same story "but I like being a puppet"... I'm pretty close to setting him on fire.

Yea I don't know how that made it past playtesting, I was actually going to take him out but forgot the game wont let you draw weapons in towns.

I agree, was afraid after 2 the series was finished, glad I was wrong! What a beautiful entertaining game!

Wingsuit is pretty much crap anyway, the parachute is the important bit. ;)

I guess every videogame story is garbage then.

Seriously, I don't get the complaints about the voice acting and story in this thread. It's pretty standard gaming experience to me.

Just tested it. You can't even snipe him, his hit box has some invulnerability. Set the entire village on fire, he just sat there :(

Alright so with 95 pages there is alot to go through so ill just ask and hope for a response. I'm trying to decide to buy this, or Xcom and ill be doing so on ps3. So the obvious question is if the game runs decently on said console,or if its a train wreck?

Also ill be buy both at somepoint but i was personally much more excited for FC3 so as long as its not garbage on ps3 ill probably buy that one first.

That Kick the Hornet's Nest mission was pretty sweet. Really digging this game so far. I always find myself doing all kinds of side content, but have been really liking the story missions too as they typically give you a different style of mission than the side ones.

I'm about 3/4rd into the game playing on the hardest difficulty and I don't think I've made any health syringes in the past 10 or so hours of playing. Sure, they're useful when you're in the middle of a firefight but I rarely even get in a position like that. Usually I can take out most of the enemies from a distance or while I'm sneaking around and most of the time I have enough cover to just bandage myself. Haven't really crafted any of the other syringes either except when you have to do it for missions. Never felt the need for them.

On a different note: Is it possible to accurately place objects in the editor on the 360? I'm been screwing around with it a bit but so far I haven't found an option to snap objects to coordinates or to the grid or anything. Couldn't find a way to snap objects to certain angles either. Would've been really useful if you could snap it to 90, 45, 15 etc. degrees. Anyone know whether this is possible?
