Super tired. I spent the whole day with Xian. I got about 15-20 matches and the rest our scene got a bunch of matches against him too. He's looking SUPER solid for this weekend. It literally was like 8ish hours of grinding against various characters. We went to Korean BBQ and we tried to pay the bill but he put his foot down and paid for it, lol.

Yea health is very important in SF.

I don't know about other games too much but I know when I hit Chipp that clown dies in 2 combos.

Since you are an austin resident (or at least you sound to be), how is SXSW? I moved here a few months ago, and I was thinking of checking out the Palmer building during the weekend and maybe catch whatever matches I can (sadly have to work until 6 on Friday so it's pointless to go on that day). I heard parking is pretty bad, I was thinking of taking Uber from South Austin, but I heard that those jerks may double your rate or some crap depending on traffic and weather conditions.

My first stick ever was the PS3 equivalent, the Hori Fighting Stick 3. AKA this

I bought it back in 2009 because I wanted to learn how to play on a stick like all the cool kids. But man it was a piece of shit. The stick and buttons were crap, and the thing weighed less than a balloon. I gave up on it maybe just a week after getting it. A year later I got a Mad Catz TE-S and forced myself to learn until I finally got use to it. Now I have 4 sticks with the TE2 and the VLX on the way lol.

I don't usually waste energy making posts like this: but they'd better fix Ky's j.S in the update. Its hitbox is whack as fuck for no discernible reason, and forces you to be adroit with 1-2 frame execution low-ADs just to run a basic gameplan with him. It's so stupid. There's zero reason why it shouldn't crossup and miss on more than half the cast, crouching, when you execute low AD j.S, unless you get the lowest possible AD. If the Stun Edge nerf sticks, this will be even more important.

Just had to vent this somewhere. Character has to work way too damn hard to open people up, even when they guess wrong, because his low AD mixups got totally fucked in this game.

I think there should be some way to get a chip KO either by making it supers or EX moves only. I do like how normals cause recoverable damage. I think that's a very interesting alternatives to guard break or the Guilty Gear system.

Yeah, Hori FS3 was my first too. And I'd argue it's a great starting point, since it should feel like a garbage piece of hardware to anyone laying hands on it and makes you want to upgrade in a matter of weeks. And then you regret not having spent more money from the start, since it'd saved you some in the long run. Thanks Hori for the lifelong lesson!

Still keeping it around for the odd 2P and as a PC-stick if I don't want to lug my TE around the house.

And I guess this is a good place to ask:

I'm in the market for a, preferably cheap, monitor for consoles. After playing a bit more on PC I actually prefer the small monitor/headphones setup to the big screen, surround one and will probably get a 24' monitor for future console use.
From what I could gather this Asus comes up pretty often for low display lag and good picture quality. But what about some of the Benq monitors, for example this one? Many of the advantages of the more expensive montiros seem to be tailored to high-end PC use, so would a cheaper monitor be just as good for WiiU/PS4?

If this totally is the wrong place to ask, I'm sorry, but I think the FGC probably is the most sensitive and informative for this kind of stuff.

Its good to have entry level, moddable sticks out there tho. I tend to get the cheapest version of a lot of things and only upgrade when it feels necessary. The shitty thing about those cheap hori sticks is that you need to solder to mod them, and I'm pretty sure you need to widen the holes too.

Curious to see how they'll put Jason in the lore. I don't remember exactly how they put Freddy in there, something about him being trapped in Shao Kahn's dreams and having to win the tournament to get out.....so yeah, it wasn't very good

It's time for Project Justice mechanics in SF. No chip KO, when 10 seconds are left there's a huge countdown and both players start receiving meter regeneration at the speed of light.
