Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition revealed, releasing August 27th

I didn't have any plans to buy the game again, but I really, really want that baby behemoth pet. Soooo cute.

What they gave was a beta key. If you register that, you can get into phase 3 of the beta.

Hmmm rechecked the email it says a secret item when it gets released, and I guess I'll try and sign up for the beta =D

What does that even mean lol.

Lol... in FFXI, what was the main stuff you liked to do?

Personally I loved crafting and selling/reselling on the AH, more than joining parties for exp or doing quests etc. I did lots of group activities and loved helping low-level players. None of this play reflected on the trophy list for FFXI, IIRC..

I really wish they can utilize the keyboard entirely like in FFXI. It was a bit annoying switching to mouse whenever you had to click "OK" on a popup, or to advance text conversations in cutscenes.
You actually could advance conversations... with the tab key. Which is something I've learnt pretty late (and which is a shame considering how annoying it is to advance dialogue by constantly clicking).
Likewise, I'm pretty confident they will make good use of the feedback they got and fine-tune the controls so that the use of a mouse will be minimal if you so choose.

You mean the Asuran Armguards, they were the bonus item from FFXIII's code.

Hey, guys! You can pre-order the Collectors Edition on Amazon!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CYNTLDS/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Edit: I just ordered it on there :) if my local GameStop starts to take pre-orders for it, then I'll get it there instead.

Thanks for posting the Amazon link! Like you, I will preorder at GS when it becomes available, since I will get it when it opens. In the meantime, placed my order with Amazon.

August is such an expensive month already for me, with:

Tales of Xillia CE
Dragon's Crown
FFXIV: ARR
New Super Luigi retail (might hold out on that, since I won't have a Wii U by then)

Yeah, I also prefer keyboard-only controls. During the beta I managed to customize it like that but still there were a few clicks that I had to make sometimes.

I mean, mouse controls are fine when you are idling, and want to go through menus or change equipment or something like that, but if I'm farming/raiding, I don't want to take my hands off the keyboard.

Gamefly? Gamefly. :)

WHAT? really? =(

I swear I thought I pressed every key possible. it would make more sense if the ENTER key was used to advance conversations, while the TAB key opened up the chat window. Seems more consistent with Windows.

Thanks though, I can't wait to try this in Phase 3

I imagine they will be linked to the in game achievement system.

You can see the 1.0 achievements here to give you some idea what to expect.

Click the blue text to see the sub menu's.

Awesome thank you.

Any good? Or equip that's powerfulish but becomes useless very quickly?

Same as most pre-order/bonus items, they were good from level 1 to 10, maybe 20. Overpowered maybe for what they did, but after those levels basically useless.

I would also say that for how grindy it was back at the beginning, the items were rather a great help for starting up, later on for versions 1.18+ they were useless since you could do 1-20 in less than an hour.

Players Who Own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition
Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.

YES

Never know these new items could scale as you level.

You mean the ones from ARR? Might be nice if so, but even then, can't see them being better than any decent dungeon drop or melded craft, still, nothing will beat a cute WHM with the Mog Cap, that will last until the day the shut the game down.

Are there even any shots of this game on ps3? The PC version is gorgeous, and I'm terrified that the ps3 one will just be an atrocious mess.

There're several videos, the game looks nice, but the framerate is crap.

This new video (it's in the OP) has some parts from the PS3 version, under the area being shopwn, it says which version it is from.

We did mainly HNM's, Dynamis, whatever AU brought in..I forget.. basically end game. Same in WoW just more pvp focused.

Wait, they're really doing another CE for this? I bought the CE for the original launch and it's one of the shittiest special editions I've ever owned. Suited the game, really.

I have been watching FFXIV from the side lines since the first beta scared me off from a purchase.

That goddamn Behemoth pet just made a sale. Son of a BITCH, that thing. MY ONE WEAKNESS.

Awesome thank you.

I do believe there is a limit on number of achievements though, so I figure they will not quite entirely overlap. I don't find anything wrong with focusing on achievements for an MMO, I can understand it's hard to find motivation in an MMO.

Can probably expect taking every class/job/craft to max though, and that should take plenty of time on its own :P

The joke is the cost for the collectors edition

That Artbook is totally worth the price, not mentioning the box, postcards, soundtrack, documentary and the security token.

And I'm not really paying for the game, since I'd get the free download regardless.

I was hoping it'd be cheaper. The standard version is only $30 for PC and $40 for PS3.

Sorry if it's been answered in the thread - is this one PS4?

I would wait until E3 to answer that but currently .. no.

Entry is as cheap as the 6 months plan, but you get less character slots.

Yea I did find this slightly odd, for a game which allows you to do everything on one character why would you need (I meant want) to pay more than the entry fee ?

Day fucking one. Played XI for 5+ years. So glad I don't need a PC to play this since I don't have one. Going to deal with PS3 quality until inevitable PS4 release.

For multiple characters, I had the idea of having one toon magic only, while the other not. But eh, who knows. Fucking hyped all over the place for this game. I hope they're able to get the Summoner in by launch though. And there's still the whole speculation of the picture that looks like a Scholar.

I'm curious: do you think FFXI's achievement list is indicative of what its focus is?

I honestly did not realize XI had an achievement list till this thread. I played it from the J-release on PC till AU came out and then stopped. I just looked it up and, yeah, that's kind of what I'm afraid of. I have zero issue with the missions, but leveling up every class.. bleh. Even after all those years I only ever really got sam and rdm to 75 or whatever cap was back then. Though the achievements listed above for FF14's ingame system seem pretty decent, but they obviously include max rank every class/craft/whatever.

And I never paid extra for mule accounts lawl.

Well, before they charged (or were supposed to) $1 for each extra char or something like that, remember? But fortunately YoshiP scrapped that, because there's always people that want mules for extra crafting, storage, playing as a different race, different server, etc.

Welp my life is over

They still charging $14.99 for PS3 users per month or did they lower it a little?

Eh, guess I expected too much graphically from the PS3 version. Have the hardware demands in the PC version gotten better or worse since original release?

Does it actually matter that there are completionist achievements (or trophies)? Are you going to play by what the achievements dictate, or by what you want to do by yourself or with your LS/GC?

I don't really see what's the problem with having that system in place and what someone, in this case you, would want to do in the game.

I think the min requeriments from the PC version are actually lower than before.

The 1.0 engine was a clusterfuck with performance problems even on powerful rigs.
