This is the first MMO to really make me feel like I need to upgrade my GPU. Running with a 560ti right now, and my computer is having trouble running this on high settings. Inside the Adventurer's Guild and I'm barely breaking 50 fps.
Pretty game though.
EDIT: Just got to the point where I can see other players, and my FPS tanked to 28-30 in the guild house. Switching to medium settings only raised my FPS by about 2-3. Really hoping this is just because it's beta, and that the engine will become more optimized towards release.

lol my wired 360 controller isn't working at all
Mine is always plugged in on my PC and it saw it right away...you also have to go into the options and switch to it for better options...
They added the grand company track again, woot.
Gamepad controls are really well done.
I believe they decided not to wipe them.Characters were wiped, weren't they? So what level does the GC track start at now?

The first time I tried it, no button worked.
The fifth time I tried it, buttons worked, but, well...
L-stick button = A
R-stick button = B
Back button = X
Start button = Y
B = RT
A = LT
RB = RB, strangely
LB = LB
X = Sit ;_;/focus on target (whatever button that is)
Y = 1st person (R-stick button?)
d-pad left = L-stick left
d-pad right = L-stick right
r-stick up = L-stick up (walking only)
r-stick down = L-stick down (walking only)
r-stick left = L-stick up (running only)
r-stick right = L-stick down (running only)
Nothing else seems to do anything.
This cross hotbar gamepad control scheme is godlike.
Beta still crashes when I go to make a character. Will wait for PS3 version it seems.
I tried Guild Wars 2 when that launched and it bored me pretty quickly as well. I enjoyed FFXI years ago, but maybe this genre just isn't for me anymore.
Your firewall or peerblock off or set to allow the IPs? The game crashed when those IPs were blocked, I guess they didn't set up an error message yet.
Sadly, due to studying and since this game is weekend-only I will not be able to play that much... I enjoyed the hour or two I played though.
No it's an actual crash. Something to do with what it's trying to load. I get a bunch of dll errors. (It lists almost every dll associated with the game) I reported it in p1 still nothing has changed. I have all the latest drivers and everything.
It's funny that this beta won't load for me but 1.0 ran fine.
I tried using my PS3 controller with the Scarlet Crush drivers. The game doesn't recognize it, even though my laptop does. It was plugged in before I started the game. I've used Motioninjoy before, but deleted that since it had a lot of ads. I was really looking forward to trying this out with a controller.
Run motioninjoy with the offline files, no more ads.

So I'm level 12. This game has been super repetitive, standard MMO-fare. I still only have 2 attacks as a conjurer. Does it open up a bit more? Like all 6 of my quests are just "kill x things". Really not feeling it.

Pretty early level standard with any MMO. Just gotta get them levels up.
I understand that, but I guess once I got levequests available and they're all just kill a bunch of things I've already killed, it really soured me. I'll keep playing until the end of the phase, but when they wipe chars, I have no desire for the next phase.

That's a concern I have/had, too.Did a Tam-Tara Deepcroft run last night, which was a lot more fun than the other content in the beta. Didn't win (we made it to the final boss with one minute left), but did get an Aetherial Brass Gladius and Aetherial Bronze Celata for Gladiator =).
One concern I have, with them pushing quest grinding as the basis for leveling, how is that going to work with the Armoury System and switching classes? Sure, you can move to a new city to level a second or third class, but at some point, you are going to run out of quests and be stuck grinding leves and FATEs to level multiple classes.
