Unfortunately, you do have to go to the location to "accept" the Leve and each will have a location to "deliver" the items. When I leveled my Carpenter back in OCT, I used this as a Leve-guide:

http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Carpenter

There is a page for each craft, pretty helpful when you want to cut down on time.

Thanks! Will definitely look into it.

The thing I like about the supply quests for the Grand Companies is that they are always appropriate for the level of all your crafts and are all in the same place (plus I get seals).

As somebody who has all DoH classes at 50, I agree that the courier leves are the most efficient method of leveling up the classes. You could argue that the triple turn-in leves were more efficient before they adjusted the experience rewards from leves in 2.1.... but that is a thing of the past.

BTW, I apologize for getting overly argumentative yesterday. It's a bad habit of mine that I can usually quell, but it still pops up every now and then.

Most I can say in my defense is, well, as a human being I'm still a work in progress.

Also, something I just overheard reminds me.

I really hope they give players the option to raise multiple Chocobo's starting in 2.3. For things like FATES, when you're stuck soloing or near soloing them, a party of multiple reasonably well ranked chocobo's would be extremly useful.

No as useful as actual players, but that's not always an option, and I'm assuming Square is going to continue thinking up ways to force end game players to do Fates, soooooo.....

The most efficient manner of crafting is to have multiple people doing different crafts at one time, so you guys can support each other by trading ingredients.

The most efficient manner of leveling crafting is to have someone just HQ the turn-ins... and compensate them for their time, or just buy them off the Market Board. You suggested that he also level Goldsmith & Alchemist to HQ the other ingredients.

Also it's 200% the EXP which is triple... unless that changed. I leveled all my Crafts to lv 50 before the end of October.

Speaking of Chocobos, when are you able to use them in battle? As a healer, I wouldn't mind a Tank bro.
You can get a quest at level 30 for it.

Fair warning though, unless you're content with just letting the AI control your chocobo, they'll require their own hotbar.
I just set mine to attack mode. He dies a fair amount from standing in the fire, but he's a DPS so I figure he'll learn
eventually. :p

Once you get your Chocobo license you can summon them into your party using a Gyshal Green. These are sold by a vender near the Gridania Aetherye Crystal.

Edit: Opps, looks like it's been too long since I was in that part of the game. Yeah, level 30.

So I just resubbed and am ready to jump back in on PS4 after having played the one month trial on PS3.
Anyone here playing on Phoenix?
Oh, and be warned I'm a hopeless MMO noob though the game seemed easy enough to get into last time I played.

Is there an easier way to target player characters on the ps4 controller? I'll see people in need of a heal and it's a pain to target them.

So I got back from the mission where you have to go to the other two cities for the first time with the letters. I spent some time at each place checking it out. Now I am back in Ul'dah and I can't for the life of me figure out where to go to advance the main story quest. Anyone know where I should go?

As a Tank I can usually direct AoE away from my Chocobro. It's only a problem when I'm dealing with multiple enemies. In those cases though, the AoE usually isn't enough to kill my Chocobo outright.

Up and down on the d-pad. Check your targeting settings in the character settings if that's still not doing it for you. you can setup L1+X and L1+O filters.

Just on the Chocobo fighting, if I hit lv 30 and do the quest so my Chocobo fights with me, if I then go back to lv 1 with a new class can the Chocobo still fight or is it over lv 30 only?

Pretty certain it can still fight with you. I think it'll be level synced the same way you are though. Granted, I've only recently started using my Chocobo in battle regularly, and I don't recall using it in any real level synced content.

I typically just use my Chocobro to clear through Dailies a bit more quickly.

Ah yeah I'd expect it to be level synced, but still would make leveling that bit quicker I'd imagine.

Choco will be equaled to w/e level you are

Choco has it's own 10 ranks up to level (Very Grindy)
You can choose from 3 styles: Tank, Attack, Heal
It's best to put all your Attribute Points for your choco into 1 style, cause once you hit Rank 10 (Max), you get a rare barding, if you mix and match, no way to reset and you will forgo getting the barding
Healer gets the WHM, Attacker gets the DRG, Tank gets PLD

There's also the Challenge Log Bonus of getting your Choco 60K+ XP for killing 20 & 100 mobs respectively to earn the bonus
If you have a lvl 50, grab or make a Spiritbonding Set, and go kill Water Sprites in South Shroud (Uruth's Gift Area)
Will take roughly 150 Water Sprites to get 100% on SB set, + every Water Sprite killed gives your Choco an extra 225 XP, so it's worth to do it every week

Yeah I do the same. I find however that when I pull with tomahawk a lot of the mobs will hit their AoE cast as soon as I get close so by the time I've turned the mob Roki is in that AoE. Not normally a problem, but he also gets splatted on some of the harder fate fights.

I always have a full stack of greens anyway so it's no big deal.

Does anyone else find their Chocobo withdraws randomly sometimes? Or do the greens actually have a set duration? Because he seems to survive being logged off for hours on end.

Yeah, this is annoying. I chose attack because I just want stuff to die quicker while questing - but I understand that the rank 10 attack skill is an AoE? He's gonna get fucked up.

Greens have a set duration in 30 Minutes

Pop your choco next time and click on the Companion Portal through the main menu, you'll see the timer going down in a bar and how much time you have left

Way back in 2.1, the exp of single leves were buffed. That's why your "triple turn ins are more efficient" advice is outdated, and has been outdated for a long time.

The reason why I said the most efficient manner of crafting is to find other levelers, is because the overall value is that all the crafters can level simultaneously, and exchange ingredients instead of gil. It's not particularly wasteful if they also have a leveling botanist and a leveling miner in the circle. The horizontal method of leveling I employed (leveling each craft by 5 levels each on parity with one another) is a substitute for a group of people. That's why in the total process of leveling all my crafts, I spent less than 10k and the bulk of it was spent on teleporting. But my method is less efficient because I had to spend my time gathering my own mats and making my own ingredients for every craft.

It's why at 2.2, colluding crafters can be more profitable than solo crafters, because one person can focus on mastering alchemist, another on leatherworker, another on weaver, and they can make the big bucks quickly because each person is a specialist providing others with mats. As long as they cooperate, they could eat all the money from Lord Garuda.

Ideally, when the next volumes of master recipe books are implemented, we'd be more organized on who goes what route first, and then share the wealth.

Yeah

Smart thing would be to use all 3 style and mix and match abilities for your Choco from all 3 styles, to make your Choco, the way you want it

Right now, it's pick a style and get stuck with it

Only reason I chose Attacker is cause faster shit dies, faster I get to move on
If your a DPS heavy player then Healer is best due to, healing you back up

Also as a WAR + Attacker Choco, I can leave the mob @25% health, and choco takes care of it, while I move on and dwindle the next mobs health, so the choco just follows around cleaning up the mobs that I have lowered the health by a lot
Sometime I chain quickly and earn bonus XP for Choco

if you've done all three locations you should have gotten a linkshell from Milfina or whatever asking you to hurry back to Vesper or whatever.

as for crafting... I am of the mind (and type of person) who would rather spend more time and less money. the biggest issue I am running into is running out of shards. Right now I only have fishing and BTN for gathering.. What is the most efficient way to get the various types of shards?

GraveRobberX

Platinum Trophy: Learned to Shit While Upright Again.
Crafting is piss easy, but if you can make yourself a self-sufficient crafter then you will rake in dough
Time is the only burden for this tactic

First and foremost you should level a Gathering Class

If you do Botany - CRP/WVR/CUL/ALC Benefit the most
If you do Miner - BSM/ARM/GSM/ALC/LWR Benefit the most
If you do Fishing - ALC/CUL Benefit the most

Next is to gather an ass-load of shards/crystals, roughly 3-5K of each
(You get roughly 1,000 shards each from doing the first few quests of each crafting quest chain)class quests)

You want to get Cooking up to 50 first, why 50?, and not 37 for Steady Hand II, cause then you can make your own food, it won't be 100% HQ, but think of the savings, if you gather your mats and make your own food
Move to Carpentry next, need 50 for Breygot's Blessing (Best Skill in the game)
If you leveled up your BTN, you can farm all your logs and make your own lumbers
Then it's WVR, again BTN helps a fuckton here and you can just synth away making oodles of gil making yarn/cloth, you really want to earn Careful Synthesis I & II (These are the next best skills)
Then you can cruise towards ALC ad really just steamroll through it due to items you need to synth are super cheap on the MB or some vendors offer said items at low prices
Go towards GSM afterwards and become your accessory maker
Them LWR same thing as GSM
The last 2 for last are BSM & ARM, they require double the mats, both share the same recipes, but splinter off from each other, but the recipes you use to level them up are almost the same, so double the materials required

This way after every 50 class From CUL till BSMARM, you get cross skills to help the next class and earn more XP for other crafting classes, cause now you can squeeze out more Quality with the skills and earn close to max XP for a synth

LWR & WVR (later levels) require you to farm up mats through killing enemies (unless you want to pay the ridiculous prices)

I'm roughly 300K away from hitting 10Mil, 4mil is from Gathering, 3mil is crafting, 2mil is from drops, 1mil is misc (Challenge log/dungeons,DF Bonus/Leves/etc.)

There is so much demand in the Market right now, but people are too lazy to invest their time to making gil
Shit before there were only 5-7 items that were worth it, now there are roughly 50+ items that are always in demand

___________________________________

I do my GC Dailies, earn roughly 7-8K seals a day, before even doing a FATE
Within a few days I have around 45+K seals and buying Potash/Peacock/Coke or Ventures for my Retainers to rake me in extra gil

Just today I went and put in 45 minutes to farm up 99 Snurble Tufts
1.5 hour to get 4 stacks of Fleece
30 minutes to get 4 Stacks of Effervescent Water
In between grabbed Darksteel Ore, Gold Ore, Crawler Cocoons
Right now I'm crafting away and have made roughly 65+ Undyed Felt HQ and 10 NQ so far
Had ALC make the Natron with Quick Synth

So yes 3 hours of Farming and 1 hour Crafting, will net me 200K for what it's worth
This before I do my GC Dailies, Beastmen Dailies, Challenege Log, then DF DR in 4-5 categories as Tank
Then have 500 Myth by then, buy a item and place it for roughly 100K+ before I go to sleep and repeat the process again

Something I've been meaning to ask for a while: is is possible to identify the co-ordinates of a specific location on a map on the PS4? Does bringing up the virtual mouse show the co-ordinates for the current position of the mouse?

So many things give co-ordinates, but all I can see are my own co-ordinates on the minimap.

I didn't need other players to make my wealth with 2.2, then again I had a stockpile if lv 50* mats to help me along. You make it sound like everything is instantaneous, but it's not... and you have to compensate for inventory space, navigating the menu, initiating trades... doing the same craft 15 times in a row can go very quickly. I can craft a stack of 99 HQ Buttons in a Blanket in ~ 40 minutes.

Also I'd look out for players grossly discounting the 3x Leve items, I remember someone selling HQ Apple Juice for less than the total Gil you'd receive for the quest... I made Gil and saved time. I guess to each their own.

I play on PC with a controller, but I think it's the same on PS4. You press Square to bring up the map and then move the cursor with the right joystick. Your coordinates are on the bottom while the coordinates of where your cursor is on the map will be on the upper right side.

Picked up a physical PS3 copy in HMV today for £5.39 and thought I'd try it for the hell of it.

Fantastic!

looks like you can get the PS3 copy on newegg right now for about $15. Not a bad deal to also have PS3 access for basically the same price as a month of game time.

I'm skipping the PS3 deals, though if I could get a PC version for $20 or less I might jump on that for alternate PC access.

Just wait till a seasonal steam sale to get the PC version, it should be 50-75% by then

Same goes for PS3 version, I mean the PSN store during X-Mas dropped it to 14.99 as Digital Vanilla Version

I wouldn't be surprised down the line, like after E3 FFXIV goes on sale again on PSN for PS3/PS4 for like $9.99-$19.99
Hell there's also always those Publisher deals that SE is involved in with SCEA/SCEU, so there's many opportunities down the line to grab an extra 30-60 days depending on which version you pick up

Good to know you can add another PS3 version, now to get at least a super cheap copy and add an extra 30 days, same goes for PC version
So would have all 3 versions, 60 days extra time added onto my sub
Just need the price to be right!

Hi guys! 3 things:

- Can I migrate my character from one server to another?
- Does this game support crossplay among PS4, PS3 and PC users?
- Holy crap is the soundtrack beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rSyoMMU7a8 can you buy it separately or the only way to get it is buying the collector's edition?

Thanks! I'm really enjoying my time with the game but I feel like I have a lot of more stuff to do on it.

1. Yes, but it will cost you $18
2. Yes, all versions play on the same servers. The licenses for the games are separate, though. If you want to be able to play on all 3 platforms, you need 3 copies of the game.
3. You can buy it separately from square enix's online store - http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/DisplayHomePage

Yes you can migrate, cost $18, and I think you have to stay on that server for 30+ days until you can move again

Yes it's cross-play, all PS3/PS4/PC players are on the same servers, no seperation

Yes you can buy the soundtracks, there's 2 of them out so far
They're on a Bluray disc though, not CD oriented
Each Soundtrack BR comes with a special minion code that you can use inside FFXIV, each SDTRK retails for $49.99

Fake Edit: Beaten =/

Ok, thanks for the answers! :) I think I'd rather start a new character on the server my friends are currently playing, as I'm still on a rather low level, so no biggie.

Question 2 was the one I was really interested on because I have friends on PC interested on this game (and the damn thing is like 25 bucks on GMG)

I will look if CDJapan has some copies. I really love the score for this game.

I need to level up just so I can use some better looking gear. The best gear I have at the moment is ridiculous.

Well, you need to complete that quest that allows you to dye your clothes. Your character will look more uniform, than a colorful clown. It makes a big difference in the look of your character.

That quest is a lvl 20 side quest in uldah, in western thanalan.

Here's my character

He didn't sell them on the Market Board... made them to order and he had a 100% HQ formula for 2* gear. Phoenix FC ShinRa (of world 2nd T7 clear fame) is technically no more. After Krietor was asked to stand down as leader (apparently he initially offered, but then reneged) all but 3 members left the FC and started and new one, called Exordium (EX). Krietor initially tried to rebuild but after a few days he transferred servers (Ragnarok I think, probably to join Sol over there as they were in need of a BRD, iunno) and now as far as I can tell ShinRa is gone.

Guild drama is never cool for anyone involved (i'm guessing thats what happened here), because it seems like once your initial group breaks up, you'll never get that same group feeling back, and then its just downhill from there.

At any rate, I need to pull myself away from Dark Souls 2...but I cant.

Yes I got that, but do I have to actually show up at the location that gives lvl 15 leves to get them? That seems like a pain, since I'd have to go to other locations to get the leves for my more advanced classes.

Right now I'm doing the supply and provision quests for the grand company everyday. It's easy enough, you're already in town so you can buy everything you need to make it or downright buy the item (usually a win on food) and get the free exp. I've gotten most of my classes to lvl 10 just with that, without actually crafting much of anything. I'll keep going till I get them to 15.

Only certain places give certain leves. You have to go to the correct place to get your fieldcraft leve. A quick google search on the leve your looking for should tell you who gives it.
