There are a lot of assholes that are doing the story roulettes and just want to rush through it. This means some of these people are assholes who pressure people to skip cutscenes and such.

Just hope that there are enough decent people in the group to votekick these assholes.

Ha, I got locked out of the final boss of one of the dutys because I wanted to watch the cutscene. They managed to do it without me, so I just balldanced outside the room.

Odin just killed Ultros.

Asami am cry.

That Odin was on something, Holy Hell I've never ever seen it move that much
I got aggroed like 5 times as BLM, like no one was tanking it
He literally came to me 5 times and whacked me with the sword, I never knew I generated that much hate
So many stupid deaths were had, it was like all the tanks, just were in DPS mode, no hate control

I think the healing/regen/raising trick has been found out by the community, cause many healers were cheating trying to get Gold that way by doing the bare minimum and hurt us overall, cause so many of us died due to no heals and Raises were given a plenty but their MP depleted hella' quick
Funny to see so many bodies drop to Zantetsuken in an instant

At least he will be level 59 next time

Re: T8

What are the tower sequences that you guys use so you can have everyone stack up at the boss for mines? Right now our sequences always have homing missles come with the mines so we can't stack up for mines.

You should be pushing the mine tower with at least two people in the earlier phases. That way it doesn't allow the defense tower to blow too close to it.

What's the fastest way to level now outside of the daily low level dungeon roulette? I know they nerfed most or all of the escort leves

D: You couldn't keep me alive! XD Why didn't you go for i70 gear BTW?

Oh wait, never mind. XD I'm in iLv55 gear with the exception of my feet and head.

The rest of my stuff is wolf gear, so yeah. I did it it for the morale boost, but I am wondering if I should just switch back to my Hero/CT gear.

I'm almost lvl 25 and still feel like I know barely anything about the game, it's weird.

Especially all the little symbols. I can't tell what classes my party mates are because it doesn't say outright and I don't know the symbols. I'm not sure why blue 'x's appear on my items in the armory. I'm still confused as to the difference between guildhests and dutys / dungeons.

Despite all of that, I'm having fun. Once I got to the dungeons I had to go out and buy a cheap usb keyboard. Would have sucked playing without being able to communicate. But with the keyboard I feel like I'm doing reasonably and pulling my weight. A mouse would be better, but it's okay, and I'm able to curl up on the couch and play at my pace.

Enjoying it.

Ooh, what level are mounts? Gotta be soon, right? Also, do arcanists ever get to do any burst damage?

Here's what we do.

1 [dread/defense] -- 2 people into dread tower
2 [mines/west AoE] -- 2 people into mines tower
3 [dread/defense] -- 2 people into dread tower
4 [mines/west AoE] -- 2 people into mines tower
5 [mines/dread] -- 2 people into dread tower (we were flip-flopping on this one, sending 2 into mines, or 2 into dread, had some mishaps with both, but dread ended out working out best for us here)
6 [mines/west AoE/south AoE] -- 2 into west AoE, tank into south AoE, and then once allagan field wears off of whoever, they also go in and trigger west AoE
7 [dread/mines/west AoE] -- 2 into dread, 1 into mines
8 [mines/west AoE/south AoE] -- 2 into west AoE, tank into south AoE, and then once allagan field wears off of whoever, they also go in and trigger west AoE

With this setup, everything tends to work out pretty favorably, and we don't have to deal much with AoE towers going off while allagan field is up either.

A blue X mean you cannot equip. Guildhests are mini trials with four random people. Duties are single person.

No. SMN's get Fester which is good burst damage if all three of your dots are applied (Bio, Bio II, Miasma). But you can only use those three times a minute.

We are more nibble at the monster's ankles until they die.

The glamour system feels really inefficient in XIV. Especially after coming from Diablo 3's transmogrification. On that I can just flick through a list of previously equipped skins (I don't even have to have those items currently) and actually preview my build before I finalize it. Plus there's a flat rate for changing to a different skin based on the quality of the item. On this I'm just messing about with an external website trying to use an awful wardrobe program and anything I don't have that looks remotely good is probably jacked up on the market board.

I feel the same way. I'm lvl 15 mage and just started the duties and guildhests. I still don't know what half of the symbols are or what some of the stuff on the submenus do.

I'm hoping that the dungeons get longer because these beginner ones are in one area and are very short. Do they get longer like the WOW dungeons later on?

They start getting quite a bit longer after you switch jobs. Qarn (optional) is pretty long, as is Brayflox and Stone Vigil.

DCUO had something similar, every piece of gear had a "style" and once you collected it by wearing it you could select its appearance anytime.

It isn't very efficient, but it gives the crafters something to do all the time, and is still relatively easy all things considered. Biggest issue I have with it is that it's such a Gil sink, that it makes me reluctant to experiment around with different armor sets.

Yeah I know, I can just equip the actual armor to see what it looks like, but I need to see it in action for awhile to make up my mind if I'll like it. Can't exactly take ilvl30 armor in with me into endgame stuff.

And mostly get shorter again at the endgame, but those dungeons are meant to be farmed for months at a time, so making them short makes sense.

Has anyone figured out Leviathan's lyrics?

Leviathan, Leviathan

Chorus
Leviathan, Leviathan

Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan

(*Chorus)

Can’t stump the diablos
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan

Chorus
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan
Leviathan, Leviathan

(*Chorus)

What about the bridge? That's where the real magic happens. "Leviathan, Leviathan"

We were doing 1 on the mines. Do you guys just eat the homing missle then? It's quite hard for the assigned homing missle guy to pull it off of a clump at the boss.

Here's what we do.

1 [dread/defense] -- 2 people into dread tower
2 [mines/west AoE] -- 2 people into mines tower
3 [dread/defense] -- 2 people into dread tower

Hmm, again we do 1 on the mines and this is mostly pretty similar... except triggering both AoE towers when 3 towers come up. What's the rationale and timing for that again? Wouldn't having 1 person go into the AoE tower each make them sync up?

Nope. One person goes into the south tower, two people go into the west tower. So that's not synched. Then the person who has allagan field runs into the west tower once their allagan field wears off, which will make that west tower go off immediately. The rationale behind this is the timing. With this method, we minimize the damage the person with allagan field is taking. Allagan field will almost always be down when a tower AoE goes off.

Guildhests are like short tutorial battles. Dungeons are much larger zones sprinkled with enemies and bosses. Trials are boss fights.

As long as you're keeping up with the main scenario/story quests, you'll unlock new stuff (airship pass, chocobo, dungeons, retainers, etc). The main story quest icon (a fiery ! circle) looks different from side-quests.

If you want to know what level-locked content is coming up, check this link.

That's my problem with it as well. The system should be designed to encourage experimentation.

Knowing the game economy though, prices will drop after awhile, after people start undercutting. Besides, "some," enforced caution on vanity might be a good idea.

One person is assigned to homing missile duty and they take it away from the rest of the group when it comes up. We ended up having a melee do it because they are always closer to the boss and it's easiest for them to peel it off any others who may have it. That person typically should not be triggering the landmines.

Oh opps, misread, so you're doing a 3+1+0. We're doing a 2+1+0. Hmm I'll need to take note what goes off again during our next run.

You definitely want to send three people total into the defense tower when Allagan Field is up. Two at first and then after Allagan Field expires you send a third to blow the tower before the debuff goes out again.

Just had the worst group for Praetorium. Didn't see a single scene, everyone just ran off and they're in Nero tol Scaeva now. Meh, bunch of tools.

Those cutscenes are long. It's a bit obnoxious to hold up an entire group. I skip them unless I'm not in a party. Will watch later.

Did you try to watch the cutscenes or did they yell at you?

Both. Just done it anyway, wasn't expecting the final bosses to be so easy. Going to go catch up what I missed on YouTube.

Aye, but it's story missions. Bit annoying I can't watch them. Admittedly that's game design fault.

While I frequently do force people in Prea runs to slow down to let the newbies watch the cutscenes, I can only do that if it's either the other Tank that wants to do it, or the other Tank is being cooperative. Even then, sometimes you'll get a revolt and a DPS or healer will start pulling things.

Honestly, ideally for your first Prea run, you should probably avoid DFing it. Because Prea is apart of the Main Scenario roulette, a lot of people end up running it daily, or near daily. It's just kinda difficult to get people whom have run it so often to take a half hour to wait for cutscenes.

In a good FC, you should be able to find enough people that either need it, or whom are willing to help, to go in pre-made.

On this subject, they really need to add more options to the main scenario roulette.

You can watch any of the cutscenes in your inn room.

You can re-watch those cutscenes in your inn-room, at the lil desk thing.

Edit: I will admit however that, in the future, they need to keep those cutscenes minimal, load them at the beginning and end of dungeons.
