Original Ala Mhigo is somewhere in between the Black Shroud and Garlemaid. They tried to conquer Gridania before my fellow Twin Adders from the past told them to GTFO, then they got wrecked by the Garleans.

Yeah I was talking about the original Ala Mhigo. Well hopefully they follow through and we get to go there, or what is left of it.

You can actually see concept for Ala Mihgo on the official site, they added it around launch of 2.0, its probably what the 'zoning' screen is going to be whenever they get around to releasing it. The look of what I assume is the city of Ala Mihgo reminds me of an ancient/medieval style version of the new FFXI city Adoulin except instead of on the water its in the middle of the highlands. (And no I am not talking about Ishgard, go into the locations section of 'what is final fantasy XIV' page and you can see the concept art for it)

And to answer your question its on the northeastern most tip of Eorzea and more or less directly northeast of that big wall near the sylphs in East Shroud. The territory is called Gyr Abania.

You can even see its location if you zoom out of the in game map enough. It is the town to the east of Gridania that you can't click on.

Ala Mhigo absolutely destroyed Gridania/The Twin Adders, it wasn't until Ishgard got Limsa/Uldah to agree to a grand alliance to prevent Ala Mhigo from gaining shroud land and encroaching on their borders that they managed to beat Ala Mhigo back. Ala Mhigo force were no joke, the fact that the Empire managed to singlehandledy crush them says a lot of about their power. I wonder how long Eorzea would last against the full might of the Empire, at least when it's not being run by a Bahamut puppet. Just fighting Gaius' splintered remnants/force was extremely close.

I still don't follow, sorry. How does input language affect anything? I don't think the game has autocorrect. Or is for those default messages that you receive in the language you have you GUI setup to?

If it's the language of your keyboard, you can change that in the PS4 device settings.

I really don't understand what you're talking about.

There's no way to switch between input languages in the game while there used to be (like in Windows you can just press CTRL+Shift or ALT+Shift for that, on PS4 it used to be the ~ key)
I'm pretty sure that right now it defaults to English (or possibly system display language?) anyway whatever you choose in system settings and going into system settings every time I want to talk to my FC rather than an English-language party would be the epitome of incovenient.

FFXIV on Steam is 33% off right now, bringing it to around $20. I already have this on the PC/PS3/PS4, just not the Steam version and I would love to stream it to my MacBook. Should I wait it out for a better deal?

It was $11 from Gamestop about two weeks ago, digital download with free month.

Yeah, I already have the CE version of that. It sucks you can't claim that version in Steam. I think I'll wait it out since the current sale is till the 30th.

The game links the console, PSN account and client together. So while it may be possible I don't think it's all that straight forward. I don't think you will be able to pop the disc in and go for it.

The appearance of that top is race-specific, if you're not a Highlander it won't look like that.

You will have to add your PSN account to your friend's PS3 and try to link your PSN account to your game license. However, I'm not sure how smoothly that will go.

Thanks for the replies. I have my own account on my PS4 and his PS3 as well. I just wasn't sure that even though we have separate accounts on PSN and Square's Mog account that the console would be linked if I used his PS3 to upgrade to the PS4. I don't want to not have him being able to use his own FF14 anymore because I used his PS3 to upgrade my separate account on his system.

Anyone know of any static groups on Ultros that could use a DPS for the Second Binding Coil?

I've pretty much been logging on only to do my books for Animus ever since the one I was in died. It's kinda depressing.

My eyes have been getting a bit, twerky lately, after starring at a computer monitor for a couple hours. Do those gamer glasses I've heard about help with that at all?

Also, only reason I'm asking here, is because this is pretty much this is the only game I play on PC for more than an hour at a time, and I don't seem to have the same issue on television sets.

Rest your eyes at 10, 20 or 30 minute intervals by staring at something far off for a few seconds. Just make sure your eyes are moving instead of being "locked in" to one position for hours at a time, that's not natural for the muscles that control how your eyes move.

Since I don't want spend 8 weeks capping soldiery tomes for Monk gear, my time as a Monk is being cut short much sooner than I had anticipated. I'm gonna start crafting next weekend and I need advice.

How should I go about this: Do all the classes at once, or focus on a select few first before trying out the rest?

These Atma zoom FATEs are terrible. 4-5 hours and Enemy of my Enemy still hasn't appeared...

Just a heads up, that's a 2-parter FATE you activate through talking to an NPC that spawns to the side of the 'Wrench' fate (can't remember the full name, but the one you do for dailies).

Get all of the crafts to 15, then get Culinarian to 37, and from there choose one to focus on until capped.

Edit -- Getting them all to 15 gives you the first relevant skill in each profession, which will help you immensely in HQing stuff for leves. And reason you want to take CUL to 37 right away is for Steady Hands II; It Makes Hasty touch (CUL level 15 skill) just a tiny teensy wittle bit more bearable by bringing up the success % to 80.

I bought this game recently (I'm on the EU servers) and my free month is running out. I made some little alts but I rarely play them, so I was thinking of going for the cheaper sub that allows for only one character.
Does anyone know what happens to my alts if I do that? Do they become unavailable until I pay for the more expensive sub, or do they get deleted? And do I get a choice which character to continue on with?

You will have to advertise yourself in the PF and try to join PF groups needing a melee dps.

Finally got round to installing the game and now at the pick world screen. It says that Ultros is part of Primal which is a North American data center. Only Chaos is listed as European. Would it matter too much if I pick Primal? It does say in the OP that Ultros is NA/EU.

Edit: Oh apparently the EU/NA servers are in NA anyway so it won't matter if I'm in the UK which one I pick outside of timezone differences with players. Primal it is.

Just pick Ultros. I'm in the UK too. There are no issues.

I hate when, as a tank, the other party members try to force me into a speedrun by running ahead and pulling. I'm getting to the point that I will simply stop trying to pull aggro if they do this and let them die.

Think I might start doing this. Generally, if I'm not pulling more it's because I'm out of MP for Flash, or all of my defences are on cooldown and I will get murdered if you bring those 6 mobs to me.

Halatali's becoming my favourite of the Expert dungeons, if only because it forces you to take one group at a time before giving you the next one!

these guys cause the most wipes. had some mage guy triggering the large tonberry and pulling another group to us the other day. same guy didn't greet us at the entrance. it's the same type of brainless fart, every time.

99% of all people are okay to me though. i rarely have bad luck there.
