You'll all do the Atma quest again when they improve the droprate in a future patch.

You won't resist, even if you say so.

I concur with this statement. So much as I dislike the utterly random drop rate, if you could count on each Atma taking no more than an hour to farm up, I probably would not even mention the random issue.

Granted, they better make the final form of these Relics utterly epic to behold. XD

First time really playing the game since launch month, and I'm pretty disappointed in having to do this level 35 dungeon again for the main quest.
Edit: does it matter if I join a game in progress? Or does it have to be from the beginning to count for the quest?

Oh and the Manderville Man side quest was ridiculous lol

Yeah, it'd be nice if there was some sort of mechanic or logic to the system instead of just attacking one enemy and wait fourteen minutes and crossing your fingers being as effective as consciously trying to get gold. I feel like almost everything else in the game can be achieved through effort and what not but this is just kind of an annoying psychological trap.

I'm only lv22 right now, hopefully that doesn't hurt my chances of getting FCers to dungeon with...

I was in the same position very recently. Now I'm raising a lv. 34 Conjurer and having received plenty of GAF help, would be happy to do the same for anyone going through story mode for the first time.

So, I've beaten levi at least 20 times, never kept an exact number but I know I did 11(!!!!) last night. I have still yet to see the mirror or the pony. Pssh, at least FATEs only take a few minutes, levi is a 10-13 minute fight and that's not counting when a wipe happens near the end of the fight.

Did my first few Coil runs, zero drops

Lockouts must've been fun

9/10 the things that drop can't be used by anyone in the party. I don't believe in RNG, I believe that there is a room over at SE where employees sit and decide who to fuck with when drops happen. "Oh, their dragoon dps is gone this week and they had to pick up a monk to replace him? ALL THE DRAGOON LOOT TONIGHT"

For me it was like HERE'S TANK LEGS
Our tank - "Oh sweet, I wanted those"
TANK LEGS
"Ok, we already got those"
TANK LEGS

Heh, I haven't farmed a turn since the lockout was abolished. It does not surprise me in the least that the same thing drops over and over again. Close to half of my levi kills have been the bard weapon. I don't care now since I have my weapon and the other things I'm looking for are independent of the weapon that drops but still, SE hates us. Asami am cry ;_;

Thank you! That makes it a little easier to stomach. :p
Edit: and now I have to do guildhests... something I never touched before. Being a level 50 in a level 10 basic training guildhest is going to be embarrassing lol

I did one today for an exp bonus with a lv 50 PLD. Even though his gear was scaled down he took like no damage at all. So don't be embarrassed - it rocks!

I have every class to 50 and still haven't done all of the guildhests in the game, don't worry :p

Random question and I know I'm looking a good few months ahead but what are we currently expecting from 2.3 (from someone out right saying it or heavy hints)? All I know is the second part of CT.

Edit: Oh and more story but that's a given.

Maybe a new primal, and HM Greg?

Yeah I've had the same experience pugging Turns 1 and 2. About 15 clears on those two and only gotten one piece of loot for my healer so far, which was the earrings. Lockouts must have suuucked.

Edit: I think they said awhile ago that the gold saucer was coming in 2.3, don't know if that's still in the cards or not. It was supposed to have at least 3 mini-games. Oh and personal housing I think? Seems like they are already prepping for that. Ship/airship construction area for FC's in the basement of the house is something they've talked about as well.

If not for two minor issues, I could totally heal or tank Titan EX on the Vita. Just need to move those damn buttons off the back touchpad.... >.<;

Second part of Crystal Tower, and Frontlines PvP are both confirmed.

Hard Mode Gilgamesh, Personal Housing, and Gold Saucer are unconfirmed but heavily implied.

Yay.

Do I need to equip the ATMA Relic while doing the book objectives? Spell speed sucks.

I'm really curious to see how they'll fit the Gold Saucer into eorzea, it seems so out of place. Unless they open a portal to FFVII world or something, ugh...

Personally I'm excited for Personal Housing since I want to decorate my own house and grow my own garden. Frontlines PvP has the potential to be exciting, but when they screwed pvp so much...
even Ballista was better, at least it was open world and could rely on FFXI superior Job and ability system.

Yes, atma has to be equipped when doing book objectives. Something to note, the book objective for the dungeons is the last boss only so if you can get into a group in progress go for it. Something else to note, if you are dead when the objective is completed, it doesn't count so don't die during those dungeon boss fights or in the FATEs.

I hate to be a pain but could I get the cliffnotes version of what Frontlines and Gold Saucer will entail (or is rumored to entail)?

It probably won't be the same style as the FF7 one. There's already a casino in Ul'dah, but you can't enter it.

Frontlines is world PvP in the style of Dark Age of Camelot's Realm vs Realm. They'll be specific PvP zones where the three Grand Company factions will fight each other. It was confirmed for Patch 2.3 in the last live letter.

The Gold Saucer is basically a location filled with minigames, of which at least three are planned for the initial release. It was suppose to hit in 2.3 or 2.4, but we won't know for sure until the next Live Letter.

Eh, the PvP stuff could be fun if they had a better base system to work with, guess we'll see. Gold Saucer looks sweet though, didn't know they were planning to add a minigame hub, many hours will be wasted :D

Imagine a full on chocobo racing e-sport with professional chocobo breeders and riders and stuff like that. Ah, one could dream.

Since I play on a gaming laptop going to the ps4 version is an improvement with the 60 fps in instances(which is where it's mostly needed) can't wait for the release

20 or so T1 runs total, still not a drop

The RNG gods do not smile upon healers. To think I just did like half a year worth of coil runs and have zilch to show sends shivers down my spine.

Im sure it wont literally be high tech golden saucer. It'll probably something more akin to seeing an old school gambling house, maybe some card battle games, chocobo race betting (or hopefully monster battle betting), among other things. It would be nice if they could fit in some sort of 16bit boss battle mini game like the titan video.

I hope they dont think bringing back Parley as a mini game is a good idea.

Recent Coil of Bahamut spoilers/question:

So i decided to read ahead about
Nael van Darnus
appearance...and it tells of a scene where
his helmet is knocked off, and its revealed that he was actually a she
. Was that the case all along, like FFV and Faris, or is this some sort of clone/recreation type deal, remade in another image?

That's not the real Nael, it's a creation made up of a piece of him and Bahamut's essence. She refers to Nael as a different person, and uses "he" when doing so, so original Nael is likely a guy.

Cool, figured as much, thanks for clearing that up! Havent had the chance to beat Turn 1 yet, so might as well read up on the whole thing.

Finally done with Atma grinding. Getting 11 pieces in about 12 or so hours of grinding was bad, but I fully realize that even that is an extreme blessing by the RNG.

Personally, I'm pretty fine with the book part of the quest. Yeah, it requires some excessive myth grinding, but at least now I'm not at the whim of random numbers.

Wait until you have to wait 4 hours for one of the FATEs to spawn. :(

So as a SMN...what can I do to increase my dps? I always make sure to keep my primary dots up and I refresh them whenever they drop off and I use Rouse and Spur when they are up as well...and my dps still seems to be too low for stuff with a dps check! Send help please.

I have no idea how people are hitting over 300 dps when I barely sniff 230.
