Having some trouble with Garuda EX. I got the fight, but people rage quit too soon because of inexperienced players. It's duty finder, of course there's gonna be a lot of wipes...

So GAF carried me through T6. My only-clearing-things-with-echo streak is sadly dead.

Lost the roll on the ring of aiming this week to our other bard 78-79. I don't mind losing to him but the margin had me gutted haha.

Garuda EX is next on my hit list. I am really looking forward to it as I love the Garuda fights. Maybe we can get a GAF group together if you are in GAF. Maybe Friday Night Noob night...

I got Physick last night. What a game changer! :)

Garuda EX was a bit of a nightmare when I did it. What I found worked was putting up a mission in Party Finder along the lines of "Learning Party, have a vague idea of what you're doing, and stick around". It took my group about 3.5 hours of wipes/replacements to get through it, but clear it we did, and that's what matters.

Half of the problem was conflicting information - first time I was told to pull Garuda in one direction, next time apparently we had to do it the other way around... little things like that. Not everyone's on the same page, but if you get your group to stick together, you get on the same page eventually.

I finally saw the bow from Levi EX drop last night....and the party had 3 Bards.
This is after about 30 runs where half the drops were the same goddamn Monk weapons.

BUT I ROLLED A GODDAMN 97 MWAHAHA THANK YOU BASED YOSHIP!!!!

Why would you farm Levi when you can farm Ramuh? :p

Just hit a pretty substantial crafting milestone:

My butt was clenched pretty hard.

The way the HQ icon drops onto the next line is pretty infuriating.

That's pretty impressive. What rotation are you using for 3* recipes?

I got my Master GSM this weekend, but I have yet to attempt any 3* recipes. Working on the simulator I'm not even close to HQ even if I manage to get all 10 Hasty Touches, even starting with an HQ ingredient.

I'm looking particularly at the stones, like diamond, ruby and the like. They have like 4800 quality and you start with 1000. Using the rotations I've seen online (using Piece by Piece and everything), it looks very hard to HQ. I'm at 393 craft and 374 control and with food I'm at 392 CP. The rotations online require like 8 less CP, I'm wondering if I need better control. I could push for a little higher on the Off Hand, but I don't think it would make that much difference.

What am I missing here? You have to just rely on luck to get HQ here? I really don't wanna try a 3* accessory piece without all HQ ingredients. The mats are too expensive to waste them like that.

So,last night in Turn 7 with my FC during a bad attempt that ended in a wipe we decided to see what would happen if you got stoned while using the champagne.

The result was a pretty hilarious animation loop. Where the champagne bottle dissapears yet everyone keeps shaking like they were still holding a bottle.

Thanks very much! I basically launched straight into it as soon as I got Piece by Piece.

This is probably not the answer you were hoping for, but yes, luck plays a big part in 3-star recipes, particularly in preparing the precursor mats given that you can't get HQ versions of the main ingredient (e.g. cashmere fleece). Control never hurts, but I don't think adding more is going to make a huge difference. You basically need to get lucky with your hasty touches and procs to get a high HQ percentage.

My weaver stats: 398 craft/387 control, 388 CP with bouillabaisse. I used the first rotation here for the initial robe: http://i.imgur.com/1MQpZwq.jpg
I don't have LTW levelled, so I can't vouch for the second rotation.

For the augmented robe, I replaced one of the initial touches in the rotation I linked with an extra Piece by Piece, and I was lucky enough with Good procs to replace some of the Hasty Touching with Basic Touch. (You need the extra PbP to get max progress with three CSIIs.) Some of the Hasty Touches missed, but in the end, I finished with about 90% HQ. (I think I hit a Good when I dropped Byregot's Blessing.) I used almost entirely HQ mats, except for 1 NQ terminus putty.

My goal was just to make pieces for glamour since they'd sell either way, but if you're deliberately going for HQ to make accessories, I'd suggest considering being brave with Reclaim if you miss too many Hasty Touches. (If an NQ accessory is worthless to you and you don't plan to spirit bond it or something, going for broke with a Reclaim doesn't seem like such a terrible idea.)

3-star RNG anecdote: I made an HQ augmented robe of casting today. I wasn't angling for HQ since it sells for enough to make a decent profit as an NQ glamour piece, so I made the initial robe from cheap NQ mats only. I think I managed to hit about 20-ish percent HQ, and sure enough, it popped out as an NQ robe. I then managed to hit exactly 90% when I did the augmented recipe, with NQ mats including the robe. I expect to be suffering a terrible RNG backlash for my upcoming Coil runs this week.

Thanks for the response. I had seen that exact same link and I was testing those on the simulator. The second rotation is just stupid though. There's no reason to take those 2 Hasty Touches at 50%. You can shuffle things around to avoid that, but have less opportunities to use ToTs, which I think is a better idea. On the first one you could also have enough CP to switch a HT for a Standard Touch if you move the PbP around and don't use that first Steady Hand. I don't like to use ToT on touches anyway. I prefer to use the good procs for touches if I can.

I'm thinking the key might be to get the rotation down to 4 synth steps, but the craft required might be a little insane (and it would definitely cost more CP as well). But hey one more HT might be all it takes to make the difference.

I'd certainly be interested to know how it works out with Standard Touch. I don't have the resources to experiment at the moment, but it'd be good to see if the rotation can be improved. What order of skills are you suggesting? I'm pretty terrible about plotting these out due to my phenomenal inability to do basic maths, which Comfort Zone only makes worse.

No sense in wasting mats experimenting on rotations when there's something like this available. I've found it pretty damn accurate.

I used it to perfect my 40 dur 1* mat HQ rotation, which I needed for the 2* turn ins for GSM. Out of 100 rose gold nugget attempts with all NQ mats I only finished 1 NQ, which I thought was pretty good. With that I had a 100% guaranteed HQ rotation for the Rose Gold Cogs, which again was a big money saver. That site has saved me massive amount of gil. Especially with 2* and above, you can't really go in blind.

Don't rely on the solver feature though, it sucks.

Oh hey, I was in a Hydra roulette just now with Maple. And here I thought I'd never actually play together with anyone on Ultros.

Got my Hunter Green Chocobo! I wouldn't suggest the same method I used, went:

Desert Yellow -> Bark Brown -> Regal Purple -> Gloom Purple -> Charcoal Grey -> Nophica Green -> Hunter Green.

I don't even know what fruits I used, just kept asking an FC member for help when I wanted to stable it.

I really need to start farming Primals... especially Moogle. Almost ready with my CRP / BSM / GSM desynth skills. Kingly Whiskers at 5 mil... just cause some fool paid that price, Once! gah!

Doesn't seem to be any waiting around for FATEs this year. As soon as I finished the second one, it popped again 30 seconds later. Made it very easy to finish the entire line in very short order. Should be very easy to get all the weapons too, if you care for such things.

I've scoured the web looking for info, but where does one buy fruits to dye chocobos? I couldn't find them on the boards last I checked. I also can't seem to find food for my poor chocobo. I thought you could grow them, but you need a plot to do so and I don't have access to the GAF community chest or garden. I need a tutorial badly -_-

Put in a request for color/fruits on the Ultros guildworks site (if you are Ultros GAF), in the members discussion forum "Socialist" thread.

You'll know it when you see it. If I see you on, I usually stop to hash out the details with you.

Thanks! I forgot Guildwork existed! I suppose it's easy to forget being a PS4 player :(

What is the projected day of the next patch? Think I'll resub then, even if it's a bad idea to play MMOs during school.

if you mean 2.4, probably sometime after the fanfest in October (my hunch is November...), but 2.38 which introduces personal housing and the next step in the zodiac trial weapons shows up sometime this month, probably sometime after TGS.
