Sweet. Maybe I'll check out frontlines too this weekend. The myth reward looks good also. Can I just use my character as is or are there a bunch of PVP specific skills I'll need to use?

You just use your character, but go into the PVP Profile as there are a couple of skills you can use purely in PVP. Add them to a bar if you have space (I have a seperate default crossbar for Frontlines: less PVP and more "knocking off cliffs so they die" and binding skills) and check what upgrades you can get after a few matches.

Do not get PVP gear for Frontlines with the wolf marks you earn. The Morale stat isn't used in Frontlines, only standard PVP.

You can use your skills plus PvP specifics unless you're a summoner then you use only the universal PvP skill

While this is true you can still glamour them if you like the outfit. That's why I'm buying the Wolfseye set for my BLM.

Reported some tank for pulling a huge chain in Hullbreaker just so he could die and begged us to kick him because he didn't want to take the penalty. GM responded to that pretty quick, I was surprised.
He was probably going through the list of reports and going THANK GOD A NON-HUNT RELATED COMPLAINT and merrily came to support.

Some idiot decided to keep pulling bosses in CT2 before the groups got to it so the people inside kept getting wiped. If you want a GM on your ass, then trolling CT with 23 other people there to report you is a sure way to get their attention.

Doesn't this sort of take away the whole "hunting" part of the thing? Although I guess by now the spawn locations and mob types have become super predictable.

The widely used app already took away most of the hunting aspect. Besides we already have a spreadsheet that is the same as this but more work.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but the hunts weren't really the point I was addressing with my post. I was talking about the highest of the high end being annoyed by people having i110 gear as well now, when IMO it doesn't diminish their achievements in being the best even if everyone else has gear. Even if it is so easily attainable, I want to understand their POV.

I used the myth gear comparison in 2.0 and 2.1 as an example because back then the best tome gear was the same ilvl as the best raiding gear, when the Binding Coil was locked out as the Second Coil is now. That wasn't the same in 2.2 and 2.3, so I questioned why there wasn't such an uproar about it then. Even if you were a scrub in the early days of this game, if you logged in every day and ran some dungeons your ilvl could be almost the same as all endgame raiders, especially after the release of 2.1.

Your situation has nothing to do with what I was talking about.

The issue is that some people play games exclusively to be better than other people, and they use ilvl as the gauge of how much better they are. If adding the Hunts makes people like that quit the game, it can only be beneficial to the community overall quite frankly.

I saw someone with the full hunt gear.

I can't imagine what number of hours behind to do that...

Yeah, since days ago...

Oh, so GMs do respond? I've reported the same set of Spiritbonding bots on two separate occasions and they are still running around.

Edit:

Yeah, everyone knows the times and all for hunts, which means it will die down for us "casual" hunters as soon as everyone has all of the sands they want, then us plebs will go hunting and not be able to beat any of the mobs because everyone else is done with them.

Meh, an A requires a full party, yeah it will take a few minutes instead of 20 seconds, but will be fine.

An S will require more people, but dosn't seem to have as much HP as Odin or Behe.

The weekly cap on Soldiery is 450 so months of getting the Sol gear and probably nonstop hunting since the patch plus good luck with the log drops.

The Hunts don't magically lift the 450 weekly Sol cap. A lot of people seem to conveniently forget this fact when hating on Hunts.

Hunts are not nearly as painful now in the DOT FC. People have become amazingly organized with announcing as well as pulling. If someone pulls too early, a tank will always try to reset the mob until a majority of people are there. It also helps that people know who the person who is always going to pull early is. >_>

Or they're just resetting so they can get double drops/full credit.

I... don't think he was talking about upgrading Weathered gear. I think he was talking about the vanity hunt armor you can obtain from the GCs.

If you've been capping since 2.2 you probably have full soldiery by now.

This is not going to happen unless they nerf the myth/soldiery rewards. People are never going to get tired of 80 or 200 myth for a 0-3 minute fight.

Or it could turn into a level 4 materia worth a bunch. It's a big gamble, sure, but I think it's one that pays off in the long run - you just have to be patient. I'm working on my Novus now, and I'm currently doing my own spiritbonding for the level 3 set of materia - it works out far cheaper, and I have a chance of getting a level 4 materia I need as well. (So far, I've got a couple of Quicktongue IVs and a Savage Aim IV out of a couple hours of bonding - the Savage Aim IV alone is about 200k saved.)

The best way to do it is to be self-sufficient. In my case, I have miner and goldsmith both at level 50, so I can mine all the materials I need to make right-side accessories, craft them all and meld them all. I'd say it takes about 15-20 minutes to do this - the only slow part is mining the shards I need, as GSM crafts eat shards like crazy. Before I'd maxed out GSM, I was having to drop 7000-9000 gil per HQ accessory off the MB, then buy materia, then get people to meld them for me, so it was an expensive endeavour. At that point, I specialised in crafting materia to sell since that was the only way I'd make a profit. (Crafting materia is a much safer bet because you only get materia for crafting stats, and selling to crafters tends to be a pretty consistent way to make money.)

The only cost for me now is on junk materia to meld, and even then, I just feed the 'failure' materia back into my spiritbonding cycle (or sell them if I'm not going to do another batch just yet).

Given my results it's too much risk for very little profit. I think you'd make more money selling the accessories for 7000-9000 gil, because it really doesn't make much difference whether you buy them or make them yourself and not sell them. It's still costing you around 7-9k gil per conversion (whether it's actual money or loss income makes very little difference in a world with no interest rates). The materia you get has a very low chance of being worth more than that, plus you have to get rewarded for the time you spend spiritbonding. Not worth it IMO.

Now bonding crafting gear is a different matter. I've just been bonding the stuff I've been using and outgrown, so I don't know where the sweetspot is. Some crafting gear is very expensive and might not be worth spiritbonding, the low level crafting materias sell pretty well, so the sweetspot might be there, I don't know.

i got up early and tried some hunts 2 days ago while the server was asleep. somehow got into some elite hunting group. they were also top raiders afaik. what surprised me was how quickly the community figured these spawns out. they knew where possible A ranks occurred. same with some of those S ranks. so we were pretty much farming the whole world for mass seals. some guy was bragging how he got 6 log drops after just a few days. i think i got lucky as well with 2 within 3 minutes. i'm sure this won't happen again. if i do this for a few more hours i'd be at 3 sands. this is what running around and looking at a clock nets you.

I botched my 1st attempt for The Spine of the Vortex Bow. It's been so long since I Crafted an item with affinity I forgot that it also affected "progress" Normally I'd finish a 3* with 3x Careful Synthesis II, after the 1st only gave me 36 Progress I knew I was screwed! I used 2x Brand of the Wind but was short of the 445 Difficulty. It also doesn't help that the MAX Quality you can start with is 577 because most of the mats can not be found HQ, I had a 57% chance to HQ.

There went ~ 4 million Gil worth of mats bought and 2 million worth of saved Battlecraft Demimatetia III. I think people knew I messed up, I had a small group of players around my nook at the Gridinia Market Board. Also within 1 hour 3x more Demimateria of the Vortex was listed... and 10x Battlecraft III to allow me another attempt... a 4.5 million Gil attempt!

This time I stacked all the "progress" at the beginning... 3x Piece by Piece + 2x Brand of the Wind, brought me within 1x Careful Synthesis II of completion. Then the "good" conditions flowed like water and I converted all of them with Tricks of the Trade. I only missed 1 Hasty Touch, had enough CP for an extra Manipulation and had an Inner Quiet stack of 10. Then Innovation -> Great Strides -> Ingenuity II -> Byregot's Blessing. Brought me to 96% Quality! There was a 4% chance I'd get an NQ... but it came out HQ!!!!

Not sure it's a server-first, but it felt dam good to get it HQ! That HQ Spine of the Vortex bow on the Ultros MB is mine :)

I continue to be amazed by your crafting prowess, I hope to get to a level close to that someday.

How much are you selling the bow for?

Zerokku

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
So... now that I'm finally hitting my first million gil - How much does everyone expect personal housing to cost?

I'm guessing somewhere between 2.5-10million. Probably everywhere inbetween if they have multiple house sizes for personals.

yea, pretty much nobody cares about the content itself. it's all about the rewardz! speed! rewardz! run! speed!

just waiting for someone saying: "then do not use it"

Because it's not simply about accomplishments, it's mostly the ease of attainment of the same exact item (which your allagan/myth example doesn't really compare). Let me boil it down simply to a very specific situation. A person has only enough time in the week to log on and do coil with his static. Depending how far they get, he gets at most 2 chances at oil and 2 chances at sand, which he has to roll against 7 other people (but let's face it, at best the average group has only clear up to T8, so that's 1 and 1 on oil/sand). Now compare to someone else who only does hunt, he is guaranteed his own oil/sand and could possibly obtain more in the same week. So given everything else is equal (both players having to deal w/ the soldier cap), why does a raider-only has to be limited with a weekly lockout and rolling against other people when a non-raider gets it much easier?

As for people that already have their gear, well, I guess they are sore that it took them a lot more time and luck? I don't necessarily hold this view, but I think it's kind of ridiculous to ignore the disparity between the two methods.

IMO they should just remove the sands and oil from coil. Problem solved.

Are the GAF Ultros FC/LS always full?.

There was a little purge last night of inactive members. Not sure if it was just to let a couple of people in or quite a big one, but I'm sure one of the FC admins will let you know when you can get in.

Try mentioning it on the Guildworks site too.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
We get purged every few weeks so there should be room.

Thanx! I put it on the Market Board as more of a 1st for Ultros... unless someone wants to pay 50 million Gil. lol

I would probably sell this for 10 million, 10x Battlecraft Demimateria III is 3.5 million, the 3x Demimateria of the Vortex is 1 million and and I got lucky with Good Conditions. These Elemental ilv 95 Weapons require 45 more CP and 10 less Durability for Quality, you need an extra "progress" check. With 57% chance for HQ on my 1st attempt it probably would have come out NQ and I'd have sold it for Glamour.

I've been leaning more toward Brayflox HM again for my Desynthesis needs, most people pass on the Darklight Jewelry and sometimes I could get 2x a run. In Frontlines... although it's easy to get 300 Wolf marks, it would take 2 matches to get just 1 pvp accessory to desynth.

I'm a bit late but grats on the bow! I made the Titan book because I've always been a fan of Titan, now to work towards making a weapon for BLM.

More hunters in our linkshell need to start stalkhawking when the server is congested and busy hunting. I find that it increases our groups' likelihood of getting credit for hunts that other people find.

Find one or two people from other FCs you see at the hunts and periodically search them to find what zone they are currently at. Stalking party leaders often give good results since they are usually active. These same people you end up stalking will also stalk you when it is your group finding hunts.

Hang out at Aethernet points too. If you see heavy activity and a train, you know whats going down.
