This is probably a stupid question, but I see people talking about Behladian Silver in relation to the Zodiac quest, but I don't see it as a part of any of these quests http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Zodiac_Weapons. Is it just used in crafting the turn in material or am I missing something obvious?

It's used in crafting the Perfect items, yes. You can get it as a map drop, or buy it off the board if you're lazy like me.
Just glamour the set.
Do both like moi.
And beat Turn 5 yesterday, first try (for last two phases at least) hurrah.

I need to raise my ilev to go into the next part of the relic quest. Should I go ahead and buy the solidery accessories now (Bard) or save for the left side pieces?
I would just do the daily dungeon and main scenario roulette every day. That's almost 200 soldiery a day. 100 bonus if a new player is in the group.
The beast tribe dailies give you soldiery as well. In addition you can buy the same set items from the huntsmaster of your grand company as well for allied seals.
So it's relatively easy to get most of the itemlevel 100 gear in a few days/week and skip dungeon gear.
I would probably prioritize what gives you the biggest increase to buy first. If some of your accessories are that low level that should have the highest priority or just look on the market place for something better that's affordable to you.

Left side gives the most bango for your buck. Remember there is also Syrcus Tower as well.

As somebody else said, you can Glamour the set once you hit 50, so you can keep the look while using armor with better stats.
Also, there's the ilvl90 Myth Armor, which looks near identical to the AF, but is a bit different. The Myth Armor for Dragoons looks slightly better in my opinion, and technically it's not junk, seeing as it's sufficient for Primals up to Leviathan.

Does the higher level set have awful magic resist like this one does? This stuff would actually be about as good as the stuff I'm using if it didn't drop my magic resist by like 80 points (I know this was a problem for Dragoon before the latest patch), and I'm using level 30-something HQ crafted armor.
I'll look into glamoring when I hit 50 but it's more just disappointment in this one set. I'm sure I will eventually get stuff that is both cool looking and effective.
End-game Dragoons are never going to have top tier magic resistance, they're about on par with Bards now though, and have higher HP, so it's not really a big issue anymore.
Also keep in mind that Magic Resistance isn't the most important stat for DPS. DPS stats like strength and determination are vastly more important, and your Relic Armor should be beating the pants off level 30 crafted armor, HQ or otherwise.

A lot of levelling stuff technically wearable by DRGs are actually geared towards tanks, for whatever reason. You can't even roll need on it in dungeons.
Perhaps a remnant of once-existing intent to make them tankish.
I mean, all levelling gear was more or less lifted from 1.0.

Bards, Monks, Ninja, and Goons all have the same Magic Defense now. Not sure why people just assume Bards have shit defenses.

This is the first time I've ever seen anyone complain about finally getting their first set of relic armor.
He's talking about how you can show more of the inventory at one time on the screen. They added the feature a few patches ago. The option to enable this is in the character configuration (I believe).

Yeah, that's what I meant. Honestly, I think the inventory is big enough right now.
But it's so much easier not to have to flip through the pages all the time.

It also means that DRG still have the worst magic defense.
They have the lowest eHP, though.
plus, their Magic Defense is the worst when they get zero drops

Nothing like going to a dungeon for the first time, telling your group as much, having them call you a derpgoon before a single mob is killed, and then laughing at your for dying to the very first boss in the game that doesn't telegraph his gigantic one hit KO AoE a half hour before he launches it.

I've just reached Mog HM for the main story quest, and I've unlocked most of the end game dungeons, including the first part of Crystal Tower. I want to help my FC mates by getting them my first time soldiery bonuses, but I'm not sure what instances it applies to. Will they get the bonus only in new dungeons, or do raids and trials also benefit from new players? The reason I ask is I had a FC mate help me through the hildibrand trials, and I wasn't sure if it counted there or not.

Actually most sold bonus is on older content, to encourage people to do it again. New dungeons (Snowcloak, etc) and trials (Shiva, Ultros) don't have it yet.
That means you're a HM/EX trials, high level dungeons, CT and 1/2nd coil farm. Our fc needs more people like that.
Basically anything that isn't new content. So no Ultros, Shiva (HM or EX), or any of the EXDR dungeons.
The popular ones we tend to scramble for Bonus Soldiery are the quick easy ones like EX Primals, T1, T2, T4, T5 (maybe T6, T7 depending). Dungeons fairly popular now just since most of us are working on a Zodiac weapon (or two >>).

Overworld Fate Odin's pretty old content by now, so most long time players no longer really bother anymore.
Honestly, they should just phase him out, once they have the Trial/Instanced version of the fight ready to go.
Edit: Phase him out, move the weapons and such to the Trial, put the armor on sale on the Pay-Store, with it fixed so you can actually glamour it. I really would pay for Odin armor I could actually glamour.
