This patch didn't help, adding NIN was a complete waste of time.

Though I guess it helped distracting people from WoW expansion? I personally would have preferred if the resources they used for NIN went elsewhere. (People can lament Hunts all they want, at least they were relevant for all the patch cycle and added much to do to the game)

I did a bad thing lol. Not only did I change my name a few days ago and minor adjustments to my char a few months ago. But I bit the bullet and bought the Slepnir mount.

I knew I never had a chance to get her anytime soon and it's kind of a parting gift. If I don't get some time cards for x-mas my last day maybe Dec 27th as I'm gunna take a break so it's fresh again when the expansion hits.

I'm still gunna be working on my L46 Pali to 50 and my L37 Ninja in the mean time. I'll be back soon!

This is exactly how I feel atm. Espically after the entire backlog I've been building. When is this World of Darkness event btw?

How tough is it to make those artisan offhands? Been getting all of my artisan tools since they nerfed the turn ins.

I wish they had nerfed the cost of the turn ins for the sealent...=(

Pretty much the same here. I already stopped playing. Probably won't come back until 3.0 is out.

Anybody had any luck with downsampling? The game changes custom window sizes in the options for some stupid reason, and GeDoSaTo causes graphical issues. I'm using a 7970, so I have no access to DSR or VSR.

Toying with the idea of jumping back in now that my semester is over. Second year of uni has really eaten my time up and I haven't logged in since at least March :( I have a character on Ultros at around level 40 but I might start anew just so it's easier to get into things. Does anyone have experience of Ragnarok having a friendly community? Being an EU data centre also helps.

So, I started playing this game on my ps4.... On Phoenix server and I'm really enjoying this game. I've made a pugilist and and now trying to get in to the game play with the ds4. If anyone is on Phoenix server pls send me a pm so we can play together.

If you want to play with GAF you'd be better served re-rolling on Ultros before you get too invested.

ugh. So I bit the bullet because I really wanted to play and bought a key on the squeenix account, but digital river is the worst.

I'd play the 2 week trial, but I played the beta, which apparently excludes me from playing in the trial. I don't want to make a new account because i'd like to keep my existing square enix account, but ugh digital river. It's been well over an hour, and from what I hear, it could take up to a day.

The UI can't scale large enough anyways. The game is basically unplayable at high resolutions for this reason. I can run the game in 4K on my 970 but I can't see the goddamned UI.

Been mulling over the idea of switching to KB+M on PS4 so I can fit more things on a hotbar and get things out faster for PvP, but the main problem now is that I've never played with a KB+M for any game ever...

Yeah, I was in the exact same boat as you. It took 9 hours for me to get my key, then I had to download the game, since they won't even let you begin downloading without a serial.

Yeah, I seen that when I managed to get it to work with GeDoSaTo for a bit. I'm able to run at 2560x1440 on my 1080 TV and still see the UI at 120%-140%. I would be fine with 1440p, but alas, it's not working out for me.

I downloaded the 'demo' on steam, which I hear you can just log into if you once you have an account. So it's up and ready for me. I knew I should have bought it before bed last night, i'd be playing now.

Is it still worth starting this game? Or is is too empty / too hard to catch up?

Kinda getting a craving for a bit of MMOing. Not sure whether to give WoW: Draenor a spin, or this.

It's fairly easy actually. If your persistent it'll take like 2-3 weeks to reach max lvl if that. Getting competent gear to start getting into the endgame gear grind will take you no time at all if your persistent as well. I started playing in the last week of October and I'm already ilvl111 DRG with 3 other DD classes close to lvl 50 and a full set of endgame gear waiting for them. The grind is pretty low key depending on what your doing.

Obviously your mileage my very depending on if you start out as a DD, tank, healer etc. Healers and tanks get duty finder ques quickly. Dem DD ques for dungeons are like thorns however. It was really bad right around the time they released NIN when I was trying to lvl my DRG. I don't mind it though, but you may or may not.

So I want to play the PS4 version, do I get it for roughly half the price by buying the PS3 ver and simply upgrading it here? Or would I have needed to buy it at an earlier date to make it possible?

You can still do it, but note you need a PS3 to actually set up the PS3 copy on your account before you can transfer it to PS4.

You can play both KB+M & Controller on both versions.

There is no real reason to choose one over the other so choose whichever platform you like best.

oh while I remember, is crafting any good now? I remember around 2.1 when crafting was essentially pointless, or at least end game gear vastly outclassed it

PS4 is good though I get some weird input lag on my KB so I've just settled on controller. Also comfy couch.

If you have a good PC and don't mind PC gaming I would go with that version TBH.

Always played MMOs on the PC, not that there is much to choose from on the consoles... but I liked the couch gaming from the D3 adaption to consoles. If it's anything like that experience I will gladly chose the console version.

As long as you're not a job that requires a lot of bar switching like sch or smn, playing via a controlle is nice.

This game definitely does a good job for the most part with its controller integration. I play on PC and switch back and forth depending on what I'm doing. I find the controller fine for running around and doing easy solo stuff, but I don't trust my fumbling around the hotbars on the controller when I'm in a dungeon. it doesn't help that high level dragoons have like a thousand buttons they have to push so I'd need to configure and get comfortable with a bunch of wonky hotbar switching. It's just so much quicker and easier to have all my 15 or so hotkeys mapped to keyboard shortcuts.

As a scholar I can get everything I need for battle onto one bar + the ones you get by holding down l2 and r2 together.

I've never used kb+m so I can't imagine dodging aoes without a pad. But, it comes down to what you are used to.

Finally got my key, now the steam demo is saying I can't use it, despite reading forum posts to the contrary.


Anyone here have experience playing ffxiv full version off the steam demo version? Do I really have to redownload the entire game?

Ok, gave up on steam demo, redownloading. And it's so slow. ;_; Says 4 hours :(

Welp, I'm diving back in. Any server recommendations? I played with GAF on Ultros at launch for a month or so, but I was hoping to join an EU GAF FC that wasn't Ragnarok because that's Legacy right?

They're the same difficulty as any other 3 star craft, except you can't get HQ sealants so you'll start with less initial quality. Artisan tool + full gear melds should be enough to make them, though keep Reclaim around in case RNG screws you over.

Legacy means it has characters imported from 1.0. At launch those servers may have been tougher for new players but at this point in the game's life it's not going to matter much.

The OP has just been copy/pasted for several threads now other than a few pictures. The last anyone said anything about any of the non Ultros gaf groups was a while ago, most are dead at this point or they rarely visit this thread.

We just don't post a lot because the OT has become more of an Ultros meta and shade throwing thread.

Can I just buy these Perfect Mortar, Perfect Pestle, etc. items from the TP and turn them in for the Zodiac quest, or do I actually have to desynth stuff? I don't have any crafting classes at 50.

Yeah, you don't need to desynth anything. You can purchase them outright if you have the gil.
