Carboncoats coming to WoD first but you have to do all three (LoA, ST, WoD) in a weekly quest to get one.

This is evil genius. Cannot decide if I'm for or against. Ugh CT, but I guess a guaranteed upgrade item isn't all bad.

But what of poverty sands.

Well Riou, the one thing you may be missing in this discussion is what the healers are used to in a DF. It has been my experience that tanks in DF just suck. They are allergic to cooldowns. When you have a tank in ST gear with a slot or two of poetics gear who look at me and say "Hey! Here's a guy who has a Dread hat, so I don't have to do jack shit! The healer will bail my ass out!" the healer can't dps. Especially if the dps is rocking a Zenith and AF gear.

Its like tanks kinda look at the healer and then start sprinting, not waiting for buffs, and by the time they collected all the mobs, they are down to 1/3rd health and I have to blow my lustrates just to keep them at 1/3rd. In my furiousness of trying to keep the tank alive, they don't rotate mobs or try to keep aggro. So I start pulling off mobs from the tank, or if the dps is decently geared they start pulling off mobs too. When I've healed for you, you use cooldowns correctly and it is easy to do dps, or any other good tank.

So as a general rule, I assume the tank is going to be stupid or suck or both and I can't dps or it'll be a wipe.

I have zero problem with this.

Sword Oath's bonus potency per swing just outpaces WAR's better potency on their rotation and buffs. I think if we talked strictly standalone (e.g., no Slashing debuff for PLD from WAR or NIN), it probably goes to WAR there.

There was a thread about this on the official forums the other day, and the impression I got from there was that PLD could really only out damage a WAR in total damage in a complete vacuum, but by and large WAR was more damage in the MT position. It had something to do with TP starvation and the loss of damage dealing moves like Shield Swipe as an OT.

It sounds like carboncoat/twine will be staggered into allied seal rewards however they will be a lot more expensive than sand/oil was.

Jeeze, I'm getting tired of grinding for my blood-spattered things to upgrade my Conquerer after I grind the soldiery for the weathered version.

You can get a sand in Turn 7 or Turn 8 you know.
Welp, I have yet to try Turn 1, lol. I kinda stopped playing for eightish months after my PC broke.
Get a shiva weapon. You have it easy.
That reminds me; I need to try Garuda Ex again. Felt like I wasn't the one messing up on the tenth try
, it was PUG, not a FC mate,
so maybe I can do it.

They say anything about encrypted tomestones?

To add on to the other things posted, if expensive coat/twine is a thing, you'll regret wasting the seals on sands. T7 is pretty easy now.

Since some people seem to be freaking about the hunts going back to the insanity on reddit/other forums, can somebody explain what was so insane about them before? As a relatively new player I don't see how adding stuff to buy with seals would change the dynamics of hunts that much.

Hunts turned the servers into a really toxic place. On Ultros people still grief GAF from time to time because of it.

One carboncoat for running ST/CT once(and WoD but I'll probably run that for glamour/drops anyway), seems decent enough. Allied Seals though, sounds terrible. And more expensive? It was 750seals for a sand before, and that was already outrageous. The only upside is if it uses blood logs again, I actually have 4 sitting on my retainer that I kept even though I had no use for them, and 2000seals, so I might in fact be able to upgrade maybe 2 pieces. I don't know if I want to though, versus just waiting for the next mini catch up patch which will probably make them drop like candy. We'll see.

Also based on reddit google translation skills, he apparently mentions that Ishgard's relic will be different than the current one because too many people are behind. So, it's just a glamour.

I've only done hunts recently but if they get super popular I guess a problems would be
a) more people mean more assholes who pull hunts immediately vs. now with less people you're more likely to have them wait at least a little bit
b) performance issues? I can't get s-ranks to be visible sometimes at the moment so if everyone is doing them I imagine this will be worse.

Also more zone shouting etc.

WAR MT vs PLD MT will end up with the WAR dealing more damage since Defiance stance dancing is a lot easier than Shield Oath -> Sword Oath swaps. From the OT vs OT perspective, PLD will win out there. PLD MT with Sword Oath vs WAR MT will end up with PLD ahead.

Pretty much every group aiming for clearing stuff as fast as possible do so with PLD Sword Oath somehow either as MT or permanently in the OT spot except when Bulwark is up. TP starvation is a thing but the fights are done at the speeds they are which negates some of it. Plus, well, Paeon.

Because now everyone will be rushing for hunts and pulling them as soon as they can.

There's also something to be said about people acquiring gear entirely through hunts and never doing any other content.

I feel like that's probably for the best. I'm just getting back into the game and currently have a Zenith weapon. The thought of a new player having to go through all the current stuff just to get to the next tier of Relic weapons in the expansion would be too much (and too crazy).

Is there a translation showing up somewhere?

just people translating paragraphs from the OF and reddit.

2.3 caused me to take a break. the community became toxic

People that didn't raid getting sweaty and angry over over 110 upgrades. i mean you know something was wrong when you were waiting 5+ minutes as a tank for the new dungeons that were released

I didn't see anything, I'll check again.

Thanks; I tend to think that the encrypted tomestone should be the first thing they offer the general population out of FCoB, and not something withheld, if this is really supposed to be a catch-up patch.

Mechanically 10 and 11 at least are pretty straightforward in comparison to the seventy-things-at-once fiesta that is T9 final phase; the biggest challenge seems to be beating enrage, which is easier now than it was at 2.4 launch but still an issue (see the 4/4 clear of 11... two weeks ago? where we actually got the enrage animation as Kaliya was dying) and the weapon damage upgrade the tomestone weapons provide would be the most direct assist there. It'd also scale nicely with the addition of poverty twine, since in addition to the all-important dye feature it provides another 10 ilvls of WD.

So it'd just be really weird to me if they withheld the tomestones in a catch-up patch since they seem to be the thing most likely to enable people to catch up. Unless the crafted WoD stuff is way, way better than I'm expecting (and even then, it still likely wouldn't scale to i130? I dunno.)
