That first boss in Amdapor Keep HM was kind of a pain in the butt. My group was saying they saw a pink marker over their head when the guy was about to zap your ass but I got zapped a bunch and never saw it...

A little ashamed to admit that I made quite a bit of gil selling Lominsan anchovies today. Only a little ashamed tho.

You obviously didn't read the patch notes then.

So then in your case does the 1 loot item per week limit keep you playing more often than if there was no limit?

I feel like a lot of you guys are piling on me for getting blindsided by a facet of the game (genre, apparently) that I wasn't aware of or understand the reasoning behind.

I'm not even whining, or whinging, or whatever. I'm over it. But I still don't get it.

One of the good points about this system is that it does keep people from rolling on absolutely everything. For example, I was running Syrcus with my brother for the first time and he wanted to grab a Tank item (gauntlets I think?) that dropped because he was still using a ilvl 60 item. But of course the Tank with FULL i120 gear rolled on it and won. My brother was salty as hell.

Would that have happened when Syrcus had a lockout? Probably not, thought it is still possible.

I personally like when the lockouts are taken out because I have several alt classes that I want to gear up as well. However, there are definitely benefits to the lockout system and it does make sense for brand new content.

Hey all. Out of shear desperation to find something new to play on PS4, I downloaded the free trial of this to give it a shot. I've never really played an MMO on a console before (but have been playing MMOs in general for a decade), so I was also just curious to see what that would be like.

I didn't really get creative when it comes to the character creator, just went with a Marauder for my first time around. I ended up playing for a solid five or six hours and made it to level 10 before just now logging off. I really enjoyed it, which I wasn't expecting. Usually the first few levels of any MMO tend to be the absolute dullest, so any hiccups I had with the game I took with a grain of salt. Also, playing with a controller works surprisingly well. I never felt like my ability to play or get things done was ever being hindered by the lack of a keyboard and mouse. I'm not sure if I'll actually subscribe once the trial is done just yet, but my knee-jerk impressions are very positive.

instances content this patch was really imbalanced.
I think upon reflecting upon it, I agree with this. The new dungeons are just not that great to play through. Maybe it's just because I had to tank all three and haven't gotten to dps them, but they felt like they took forever. Keeper of the Lake's final boss was cool, AK HM's Demon Wall mini boss was the best (final boss is pretty okay too) and WP was obviously amazing because super cute tonberries everywhere.

Secret Trial might end up being the best thing in the patch, surprisingly enough. I really did enjoy learning the fight with a couple people, and it felt pretty satisfying to come away with a clear. It's super disappointing that there's no reason to replay it with others, because I'd really love to do so.

I love World of Darkness. I really do. The mechanics are pretty neat, there's a few new things being played with that I enjoyed, especially that cerberus fight, which I think is everyone's favorite. They did a nice job making it a relatively tough dungeon with nice looking gear and battles that won't feel so stale the 10th time you play it. I mean sure, it'll get old because of how many times I'll run that shit for the bard chest, but yeah. It's pretty good.

I'm kind of looking forward to what they'll come up with next, since these fights and the story especially are really looking like they're gonna be picking up.

If it did I didn't see it. I've just been hitting greed on everything that drops ever and this is the first time I've ever experienced a lock out like this. Why should I even expect something like that?

Don't worry, I did the same at my first ST. And I even knew about the lock out. The instinct to greed is powerful. But it's no big deal so I wouldn't worry about it.

You whinge a whole lot brah.

You seem like such a cheerful fellow.

I guess Nero and Cid's rivalry will be the key to more pre FFVI stuff? He needs to unlock the way to the Lunar Subterranean or something. I was kinda hoping he would end up being the key to the first
dark knight
job scene pre expansion.

I dunno, I think most the dungeons are just as fast as the last batch of experts. Even a pretty "think we can do that?" set of WP HM pulls had it done in like 17m. Can probably get all the dungeons to 15m or less. Might feel more like a chore to run, though? I dunno.

remember to yell at your healer to dps to clear it 5 minutes faster or just leave lol.

If a healer DPSing meant 15m -> 10m, I'd actually probably do the "yelling" part. That's a lot faster~

But that kind of run is pretty much assuming you have Holy spam to begin with. And BLM, probably. So not realistic at all for DF anyway.

You clearly didn't.

I didn't mean that he literally didn't read the patch notes... I was referring to the part in the patch notes where it says that I am the entire player base. It's in there. Keep looking.

I guess my biggest "problem" with the lockout loot system is that if everybody passes on a loot that it just poofs into nonexistence, which makes me sad as someone who aspires to have all the classes at level 50 some day. I think if everybody in the group passes on loot in lockout it should just roll for everybody and pass it out to someone and they can keep or destroy it as they see fit. I'd feel better about that at least.

Had an FC mate tell some DRG to stop being a jerk in Greg EX and the DRG asked him to log into Twitch and apologize to him and his twitch chat.

Turns out its that guy who yelled "Do you even PVP bro" like an idiot at the Fanfest.
We had some 30 people in the vent laughing their ass off. Some of these DF are too much.

And then people will yell at you for rolling on loot at all.

Realistically, this is why people want a token system. So loot doesn't get wasted.

Maybe the problem with WP isn't length but that the trash is all completely boring and there is a lot of it. There's kind of a trash mechanic in WP, but you either
move the mobs out of the buff, or spend way the hell too long killing all the staffs and questioning your choice of leisure activities.
Best case scenario just amounts to mindless AOE spam. Needs more Qarn bees, Chimera silence mechanics, or at the least variety. There's, like, one room in the entire dungeon that isn't either a boss room or a narrow hallway filled with trash. AKHM switches up the environment pretty frequently, and Keeper is pretty Michael Bay which might get old fast but for now feels different.

Does it help if the loot doesn't really exist until somebody's willing to trade their one win a week for it and it drops into an armory chest/inventory? Prior to that, they aren't really items that exist, they're items that could exist if anyone wants them enough to pay the asking price (going on lockout for the week.)

I dunno, there's a definite problem with the way loot is handled when everyone passes (it should just go back to the chest and wait out a timer to give the passes a chance to actually roll), but tossing out all the equipment for free probably isn't feasible given the way the game's designed.

Okay.

So WoD is fun, but there are one or two fights I need to brush up on, especially once I start going in on different classes and such

Odin HM is fun. It's a bit more hectic than most HM battles, but as a melee class you're going to be on your toes a lot. Also, the cutscene near the end makes me hope they do more with Odin later. So far it feels like he's had the short end of the stick.

Haven't tried the new dungeons yet. Between making some money, doing some raiding, and having my time wasted by trolls, I just couldn't find the time.

Tomorrow, I try the dungeons, new PVP, and the main scenario. Also, I'll continue gathering what I need to make the Wootz Bhuj.

I don't even know what I want out of WoD.

Also FL Slaughter sounds terrible. Haven't gotten a chance to try it yet but I'm not expecting much out of it.

I unlocked WoD but I'm too low ilvl (74) to play it yet.

Right now I'm just trying to catch up on the story.

Do you unlock that Snowcloak dungeon with the Fenrir just by doing the main story or do you need to do an unrelated quest to unlock it?

Went into Odin HM with our static. It was an absolute joke. Huge disappointment. The hardest part of that fight was figuring out what level 46 quest one of our members was missing to unlock the fight.

Honestly, I liked Capture the Flag mode, but a LARGE portion of the player base just wants to go in there and beat people up. Slaughter Mode seems to be designed with that in mind.

Personally, I hope Capture doesn't get entirely neglected.

Oh God, I had the same problem tonight. It turns out I never did a quest called "Primal Fear", it's a level 46 quest given by Urianger that I guess you were supposed to do back when you were leveling up. That's the quest chain which eventually leads to unlocking Odin HM.

They are probably saving Odin EX for later, that's why it's called HM I guess.

The best part about Gilgamesh "EX" is solo tank & heal. Because Gilgamesh will always do 1 tank 1 healer and 2 DPS for chickens. So the SCH would place Eos near me to ensure I survived and I would have to ensure I kept hate without being able to do anything half that first part.

Done that fight though forever. We went 8/8 to get our minion.

EDIT - Anyways, except for the grindy stuff (hunts, crafting gear, furniture, and weekly ct). I'm already done everything in 2.5. Most casual mainstream patch so far?

Capture would be interesting and we'd actually make use of the other 50% of the map that isn't bases or mid!

Lead us to loot next week!
That casting choker would be nice. It's essentially needed for me to be able to equip my Dreadwyrm Staff, since otherwise I'd need to swap in lesser gear to make up the ACC difference.

But I don't have my staff yet, so it's not as though it matters right now. ;_;

And yes, Kagari for leader next week.

Apparently this was in 2.5.

Certain FATEs that occur with a high frequency have been adjusted to appear less often. Furthermore, the frequency at which FATEs related to the Trails of the Braves occur has been increased.

At least something tank related dropped today in 12 though haha.

PS. Gimmie the pants. The pants the pants.

We had the belt.. >_>

Also seen the WoD tank chest? Det/crit lol!

Dunno how to make up for that massive acc drop tho that is if you combine em with the dread legs.

The belts look pretty now though ;).

Same for Bards, I need the WoD chest but the ACC struggle will be real again after losing that Kirimu coat. At least those T11 boots I got today have 29 ACC to cover the gap a bit.

ps. This is Jeral if you didn't know/remember.
