was anyone getting more lag in instance servers than normal over the weekend? never lagged so bad as I did yesterday in WP Hard and Syrcus Tower.

This weekend was bad. I consistently got movement stuttering in WoD (everyone runs, pauses, runs, etc) pretty much all day Saturday. Sunday was better/less constant, but I was still seeing pretty frequent hiccups in instances and dropped attacks (so much failed repelling shot. SO MUCH) culminating in, at one point, the sphere and everyone stacked on it teleporting across the room at seeming random.
Screwing around in the Mist, doing maps, and the couple S ranks I showed up for seemed fine, but instances were jacked.

I was struggling with primals and lag this weekend for sure.. I was trying to do a Shiva Ex farm, and I was okay for the most part (except for the AoE bombs that were lagging pretty badly on my screen), but the rest of the duty was also experiencing some bad lag throughout the entire farm.

I agree, but that was only because they kept phasing out on peoples screens and weren't target able.
Its hard to judge death speeds because it all depends on if it was pulled with 60 people there and more running in or 200 at the start which varies wildly based on if its a friday night or a Tuesday afternoon.

Hunts are fucking awful on Famfrit. One FC always pulls the hunt as soon as they arrive and brag about it in shout chat. It's kind of sad. I'm pretty sure they're just doing it for attention.
Other People: The biggest draw, and most infuriating flaw, of MMOs.

I was lagging through wp hard earlier today
I started playing this game as 2.3 hit. I unsubscribed between September the Friday just gone by. I'm on just over 300 odd commendations. No idea if that's good or bad. I main a DRG but have a WAR side class. I think only roughly 50 or so of those commendations were as a DPS, the rest I got as a Tank. In fact the only time i really remember getting commendations that stand out when i was a DRg was the time i finally cleared Titan Ex in Duty Finder. I remember because I got all 7 because i was the only one who never got hit by a bomb or fell off. I think we were on like 20% Echo by the time I cleared it.
Please help guys. Good idea/bad idea?
I have all 6 (or 7?) of my Paladin's long defensive cooldowns on a single macro and whenever I want to do "defensive shit" I just press it and one of them activates.
I am playing with controller so hotkey real estate is at a premium. Even tho paladin can get by using 4-5 hotkeys max in 99% of all trash engagements, it still seems more important to have other situational stuff more readily available than all these defensive cd's.

Bad. Bad bad bad. Do not do this. Bad. You will eventually want to be able to control how much damage you mitigate when, and those cooldowns do different things. You don't want to pop, like, Awareness when you need Sentinal or something.
Do you have the L2+R2/R2+L2 bars enabled? PLD is pretty controller-friendly.
Bad idea. The main strategy behind playing Paladin is making the best use of your defensive cooldowns based on the encounter. Playing cooldown roulette means you have little idea on what cooldowns are available for the next mechanic with damage you have to mitigate.

Use the quick toolbar you get by holding L2 then R2, or vice versa, to get more hotbar space quickly. As a PLD, i dont know what is taking up so much room on your bar, because the 4 defensive cooldowns should be on a primary spot after the 4 main attacks.
You dont want to blow something as good as rampart (20sec and like 40%) when a simple convalesance (for enhanced heals) would have sufficed.

You can group some of them together, like the weaker ones. Sentinel should be on its own, and so should Rampart. Convalescence might need to stay on its own too, then you can group Foresight+Bulwark+Awareness.
But overall paladins has a low amount of keys to press, so keeping all the cooldowns separate is best. Each is more adapted to specific situations and you want to use the right one at the right time.

Yeah in cloud of darkness it was lag city for me on Saturday. Still no Idea what's going on in that fight. luckily GAF is pro and I never have to cast a heal.

I would honestly keep them all separate. I know for some fights I would be dead if I was trying to pop bulwark and I got foresight or awareness. Bulwark might be rng but it's only failed me like, once. Foresight is meh on it's own but works great stacked with other cds. I like to use foresight and convalescent together. Really though, a lot of fights can be broken down into a very strict rotation of cds

I wouldn't group any of them since Bulwark is still a premium offensive Cooldown and helps stave off TP decay.
Even then, I wouldn't group them simply due to it interfering with your GCD anyway.
This, eventually you'll figure it out. The only ones I stack at this point is Conval and Foresight. If a SCH is going to me on me Conval is pretty nuts on its own either way.
Even one offs like Awareness get work put in depending on the instance like T11 so you don't get blasted by crits when tanking the Grav.
Ha ha!! This is amazing. Maybe I can put all my black mage spells on one macro then when I want to do "offensive shit" I will just press it and something will come out.

Haha, indeed. It's definitely one of those "O_O" fights.
The struggle is less for my static now, but when we first went in there people surviving by a couple hundred HP [sometimes even less than that] wasn't at all abnormal.
Especially when were trying it without a Monk. >_<
Ha, sorry I offended so many of you guys. I think I know what I need to do to fix it. I have a bunch of extremely (almost jokingly so) situational stuff on one of my main, go-to hotbars, I need to move it all out of there and make it my dedicated defense bar.
I guess I just wanted to be told how bad it was, what I was doing, so that I didn't carry that crap into 50+ content.

T11 was the first fight that really made me appreciate Dragon Kick.
That one time I didn't get it off on the boss before the first Nerve Cloud after add phase and got obliterated made me realise how broken that skill is.

I use that pretty rarely. Only after spamming a lot of Flash on a big AOE pull (Dzemwhatever Darkhold).
The stuff I was prioritizing was stuff that that I have used very rarely so far, but that seemed important enough to keep them readily available if needed, like Cover and Tempered Will.

I just beat it after a solid 200+ attempts. The secret? Stop using Duty Finder. You'll always get 4/8 people that are like "LOL ECHO THOUGH!" after wiping on the first landslide.
I used Party Finder as a last ditch (with a comment like "please, I can't do duty finder anymore I hate everyone" and got a group within a few minutes. Cleared it on the second try (first was like 4% or something.)

Today I was was running through Halatali leveling Rogue and I had a thaumaturge in my party who was just casting Blizzard constantly.
I told him that he should use Fire for damage and Blizzard for regaining mana and surprise, he listened. I think some people in this game (and online games in general I suppose) forget that people are more prone to listen to you when you're not acting like a condescending asshole.
Sometimes I see people in DF who make condescending remarks as soon as something bad happens or someone doesn't do something as well as they could have and it always makes me laugh that they expect people to change for them.
I think it makes more sense to help people in DF rather than insulting them while stroking yourself in game but I think some people lose sight of what they're doing and they get caught in their own hubris or something.

I am glad you had a positive experience but I have tried this exact thing many many times and have yet to get a positive outcome, specifically in the first 3-4 dungeons. When I was that level I was a knowledge sponge. I wanted to hear everything anybody had to say but when I offer advice to new players it's rare that I even get a text response back. I figure a lot of them are probably on Playstation and/or just don't care about how to play the game better.

It's not that they lose sight, they are just assholes. There was no sight to begin with.
My experience has been same as you, a lot of the time people will listen and be thankful. Sometimes they will be the assholes instead. But such is DF life.
