Just doing the Valentines event stuff and during the cutscene in Limsa they are reusing the "On Windy Meadows" Track from 1.0. I love the track and cool to hear it in-game for the first time (I haven't played 1.0).

Tell them at the start that this is your first time running the dungeon and that you have been gone awhile, your the tank you set the pace when running through a dungeon.

If someone is off pulling other mobs let them die until they get the hint, no point you stressing out just because some asshole cant let you learn like they had to.

You hear it if you start in Limsa during the opening cutscene, IIRC

Oh my god what a day to be alive. That's in addition to boots, belt, pants and twine all in one day.
Wow, my month of terrible drop luck just paid off.

Qarn is okay, Cutter's Cry is boring, Stone Vigil can be a pain in the ass and is long, Dzamael is long, Aurum Vale.... Let's not discuss Aurum Vale.

Then things pick up again with Wanderer's Palace going forward.

Wait... Qarn is possibly the best one and Cutter's Cry is good too.

Yea I feel ya, but I just don't like going in blind personally either, especially when I'm in charge of keeping folk alive, videos are helping though.

I have a soft spot for CC because I like the bosses and you can skip a lot of the trash (which I acknowledge makes no sense when you're grinding a dungeon for exp, but I always did because I hate trash.)

The only leveling dungeon I really hated the first time through was Stone Vigil, because how do you make an entire dungeon of dragons that monotonous and blah, and even that was less boring when leveling a non-DPS class.

All of them kind of suck by run 50 or so. AV in particular is worse when you hit level 50 because it syncs you to juuust shy of your best skills.

The bosses in CC are pretty good. I still remember the first few times doing the last one and it's like easing you into the idea of mechanics. I'm repeating to myself: "violet in, blue out" over and over. Of course you say it enough times it starts to sound wrong so I started thinking maybe it was the other way round and then freaking out ha ha! Good times.

Speaking of dungeon trash, I really like that mini Demon Wall gauntlet in AK hard before the last boss. They could do interesting stuff with the trash instead of just leaving them lying around for us to gather up and AOE.

I dont know if i am just addicted or if i just love playing this game with GAF and my girl but i am fiending to play.

For those who care, my transplant check up went very well. I am in great shape and if i continue to lose weight and keep it off, i will be in great shape for many years to come. After stressing so hard prior to this, i am so relived.

Life is good.

You're done! Ignore Gerolt, ignore the quest marker over jazz hands, and never return to Hrystmill again, secure in your knowledge that you defeated the relic.

just go with this answer. Nothing good will come from the alternative.

Do people feel its worth investing in crafting at this point or is a waste of money considering the expansion is only a few (?) months out? I'd really like a house but it seems the only plots left at this point are 18 million and crafting seems like a less soul destroying way of earning gil than soulbinding. Or I could just wait for the expansion and hope that theres more plots (even if I had to settle for a piddly small one ;) ) or prices drop?

Personally speaking, I'm gonna try to gear up my miner, and, maaaaaaaybe one crafting class, before expansion. I don't have the Gil to do more then that, and having one of each should be enough for expansion.

Not sure what benefit that gets me mind you, but still.

I dont know if I've enough of a tv backlog to level up a gathering class ;)

Well I can't watch TV and play at the same time anyway. My attention will inevitably drift to one or the other, and stay there.

Still, looks to me as if once you get one or two top tier pieces, getting the rest becomes easier.

The patch introduced some decent crafter gear obtained via crafting turn-ins that don't take melds and can be used by all classes. It's essentially now very easy to hear up to mid-tier crafting; you can then choose to go for the expensive crafted stuff or not as you choose but can start crafting stuff that turns decent mid-tier profits.

Cool, must check them out, seems like theres so much to catch back up on after not playing since basically 2.0

So, I know they said that there wouldn't be anymore overt homage raids, like Crystal Tower, but I suspect that future 24 Mans are still going to harken back to dungeons/areas/events from previous Final Fantasies, at least thematically. If this is the case, what are you crossing your fingers for, for the next twenty-four man?

Personally, I suspect it'll be a homage to the Floating Continent, from FFVI. They kept showing off that piece of artwork of a funky flying island at the FanFests, and even talked about Raids when it was up on screen.

Edit: Found the picture.

There's no such thing as gearing up one crafting class anymore.

To hit the really profitable stuff, you need to gear in artisan gear materia'd up on the left side. Then the only job specific stuff you need is the tool (main and offhand).

Can't go half ass into crafting now. Gotta go full out, don't bother, or just make gil off the smaller profit items. (transactional/volume game).

If you can't go full in, just spirit bind to make gil. Or even if you wanna go full in, need to spirit bind to make the gil to get the armour crafted and materia'd up.

Or just don't bother. The AF2 quest stuff for crafting will probably be a great and cheap jumping off point. At this time it's probably just smart to have everything at 50 and sit on them.

I believe you can actually 4* in the i70 non-meldable crafting gear from Talan, though, provided you get the appropriate main and offhands (you have to get Lucis.) You'd need to meld your right side, and part of the left side of one craft's AF (or a Patrician's set) to start churning out turn-ins, but at this point it is not mandatory to go all-in on the crafted left side. 3 star is easy.

This is arguably the best time to half-ass crafting; if the expansion was next month it might not be worth it but given that we're looking at probably four or five months, you can take in decent cash on the two and three star stuff with a much lower gil investment than any time in the past.
