Mr Nash

square pies = communism
Is it bad that the only combat I've done in this game over the past couple of weeks has been if an ixal daily required it of me? =p

Hello OT, I wanted to post here that my static on Ultros is looking for a regular caster dps. Most weeks we run on Thursdays and Sundays from 9:00pm-11:30pm eastern. We are a pretty laid back and casual group to be honest, but we got up to T9 before we started losing people to work schedules and we want to start putting in some real time on it to clear it. So if you are interested and have a summoner or blm second coil ready send me a PM or a tell ingame to Tomo Takino.

So since I've given up on catching all the fish (I can't remember 90 weather/time/weather change patterns at once, RIP) I think I'm just going to try to catch Kuno the Killer because with food I can hit 399 without needing the FC buff.

This is how you catch Kuno:

★★★★ The North Shards / Kuno the Killer (Weather: / Time: any / Bait: Honey Worm-> Silverfish HQ -> Goldfish HQ -> Canavan -> Buff (23 min) -> Honey Worm-> Silverfish HQ -> Assassin Betta HQ, Gathering: 399)

Two double mooches in a half hour and to catch the second fish you have to catch a big fish.

Apparently Kuno just desynths into an Allagan gold piece, which is massively disappointing.

Will we see the return of this? Bara plz

One question guys. I just hit level 50 on my Dragoon and I have a lot of fun playing that job. I admit that I went into this game rather blind and just chose the class which I liked the most. When trying to find some info on how to approach the endgame content, I saw a lot people saying that DRG is rather useless for endgame content in comparison to other dps classes which is a bit disappointing.
So how bad is it really?

it will fail

I'm speaking for myself of course but I wouldn't try to revitalize my interest in ARR by attempting one of its quintuple RNG games.

Not that bad. Yes their DPS isn't as good as other melee classes but they aren't useless. Learn the job and you can still pull your own weight during endgame encounters.

If you learn to master your rotation, any dps class is fine for endgame contents.

Are the mooched fish providing cues via animation or sound? Then you can just lose bait when it's the not the shit you want and move on with your life.

I think both mooch chains are small tug -> medium tug -> massive tug. Where it gets interesting/frustrating is that it looks possible to end up in the wrong mooch chain pretty easily (depending on if goldfish or assassin betta eats the silverfish), and the whole number 1 mooch off an assassin betta being another assassin betta so technically you don't want to drop the chain if Kuno doesn't bite because it could just be a loop.

Thankfully the only restriction is gloom, which is pretty common and I think only applies to the first big fish (since the buff itself is the Kuno condition), and no apparent time of day restriction so it should be a pretty flexible option.

DRG are lagging behind the other melee classes, but unless you're in some cutting edge progression group or whatever they're perfectly fine.

Thanks for your comments. I think will stick with DRG for now. I am using the rotation from the Dragoon thread linked in the OP as a guide line at the moment and although it's rather complex I am trying to get the hang of it.

Don't use that. All that OP stuff is garbage now.

Search FFXIV reddit or youtube for rotation videos, especially 2.4 videos, as certain jump timings were changed.

While you can go do that, all you'll find is more Rotation Reborn setups with more Jumps used. It doesn't change the fundamental concept behind the DRG rotation, you just hit oGCDs more often.

pretty much, the only thing that reduced jump times means is that ppl in 2.0 that said don't use jumps are now saying, you can probably use jumps.

At this point I've seen how nice a NIN who can do his rotation is.
I don't know if I could pick a DRG back into the party over a NIN anymore.

I see, thanks! I was already worried that I'd have to learn a completely new rotation but that doesn't seem to be necessary.

Question, as I never played ranged, what's the range of using a poison pot. i.e. does the healer need to run up to the boss to apply it?

If you're a BRD it's pretty hard to find a time to use it unless you're right on the enemy's ass. If that's the case then use it. If you have to stay far away, technically you can pop it during the times where you go up for a repelling shot. The range is about as short as your average melee auto.

So going off of what studyguy said, the only realistic time all the ranged would use it on T10 is when we are burning the boss to knock him out of electro charge after each set of adds.

Yup. I'll require me, Kingtut, and Moara to use poison pots, then everyone to use x-potions of main stat and ethers for casters.

I posted my T10 observations on mandervillemen for everyone to check out.

Right just gotta be careful. Poison pots add another second of delay it's annoying.

No reason for anyone to not use a poison potion at the start. No wild charges to deal with right away. SMNs can Contagion the Poison Potion effect. Plus, SMNs want to run into Miasma 2 range during their Contagion segments. If BLMs want to be super slick, use Aetherial Manipulation before or after applying the Poison Potion to reduce the amount of running.

Melee can weave their X-Potion and Poison Potions in between their GCDs.

There is hope.

Just EB Ken already. Sheesh.

They're not Lucrezia or CL but Kyoko Hana (Finale) and Rylai Crestfall (DDR) still rock DRG and have downed T12 already so I think they're still fine in any group.

I always thought Poison Pots use was a myth spread by crafters to sell more Poison Pots, and that no one actually uses Poison Pots.

Oh man I see PPPs on Kyoko Hana's hotbar. Guess I need to get good.
