Were you using the latest version of ACT? There was an issue with Ninja parsing and I think some things are still being worked on (like DOT calculation and tracking).

That aside, I hope no one is expecting Ninja to do equal or greater DPS than a Monk against a stationary target. As you said, Ninjas don't have many set rotations and a lot of their damage will be situational. Monk will probably always have the best sustained DPS in long encounters, but Ninja gets stronger burst damage and utility. The job is definitely complicated and there is a lot to remember, but it's just making me enjoy it even more. While I enjoy playing the other DPS jobs, none of them have engaged me as much as Ninja. I'm hooked!

I'm quite happy about the complexity of the class.

Side not is there a way to see party TP? Right now my solution is macroing Invigorate to Goad and using them simultaneously when my own TP is low. Using that to extrapolate that probably my targets TP is also low.

Been a while since I've had a run with 3 completely new players who have never played an MMO in their life.

Kinda hard explaining agro to someone without knowledge of mmo vernacular.

Did Ultros fight/Hilde quest.
Still best parts of the game. Hoping for that EX Greg battle eventually along with EX Ultros now. Also was 2.5 really the end of the Hildebrand questlines as YoshiP stated at the fanfest? We're moving on to his mother or something?

He didn't say it was the end of Hildebrand, he said it was the end of this story arc. And I believe the quote that was translated to English was "maybe he'll fly off again and land in Ishgard this time."

i was at school from 2pm Thurs to 9am this morning working in thesis stuff. totally forgot till I posted in this thread. luckily only the glazenut was poor

I am thinking about tackling Qarn normal this weekend (lvl 36 Bard). Anything special I need to know about? Most of the discussion I found was from pre-nerf Qarn.

I totally agree, after switching from class to class it's considerably better as rogue.

But maybe it was just a starting attribute and the first time you get it you were thinking about something else haha.

So at what point to we include NIN into the DRG pile?
I mean currently I have a bunch of NINs just eating AoEs and blowing up left and right.

I had a pro NIN in T5 today, he nearly wrestled the hate from the tank early on.

Why the vagueness? What is it?

I'd like to know because I keep on having to explain strat and mark myself so DPS know where to stack every trial roulette. Even then it takes them 1-2 wipes to get it. Makes trial roulette kinda useless now except for helping new players.

Skilled enough player?

It requires 0 skill. You just have someone jump out shortly before Typhon does his giant AoE that causes a party to ring out. This way the person gets pre-stunned and it wears off. Then he jumps back in after Typhon's move and you keep going.

I play MNK like I play street fighter. Mash buttons as fast as possible and see what happens. I can't be thinking do I have fists of fire, or don't I?

I know you don't play with the keyboard master race, but my understanding for top monk DPS is you are supposed to headbutt your keyboard a few times then just kind of roll your face across all the keys once or twice.

Edit: This is also why moara doesn't wear a headset, it gets in the way.

BTW, it was really scary googling for gifs of button mashing. I dunno why, but my entire screen was filled with my little pony.

And some really disturbing ones. I'm turning safe search back on.

Omg just beat Ramuh EX through DF last night lol My faith in DF has been restored. Here come Shiva!


On the other hand, Fenrir fight is such a let down, considering he's the last boss of the dungeon. Yeti fight is more fun :/
