Guess I can finally do the Hildy questline tonight now that it's the weekend and I don't feel pressured to devote time to ninja (I'm so far behind, everyone please disown me if I'm not at least level 40 by end of weekend)

BTW, I thought I heard something along these lines the other day, but never followed up...

....Did they increase the drop rate on the Ramuh weapons at all? I still need to farm out the axe there, for my collection.

Didn't see that in the patch notes.

They should change that, seeing as Shiva always drops a weapon and accessory. It'd encourage people to farm it a bit more, for alts and vanity etc.

Not that it really matters, most this stuff is on the back burner until people get over their Ninja fixation.

Speaking of, I'm always seeing Ninja's in trial roulette, craziness.

Get ready for Ninja weekend.
All NIN all day. Here's a sample of the soundtrack for this weekend.

I can't see the link right now, but it better be Hero's Comeback.

Come on, everybody STAND UP
Stand up, today's your best shot!
No one can catch you SPEED HUNTER
Everyone COME BACK now
YEAH!

Come on, everybody HANDS UP
Tomorrow is our HERO'S COME BACK
Raise up your hands and COUNT DOWN

Let's go, 3-2-1 MAKE SOME NOISE!

The DRG lance looks like a chopped down Snow axe. Hell, a lot of them look like it.

Not a bad look, but, they could have made them look a little more distinct. Oh well, again, they're mostly vanity at this point, or alt gear for people that can't T9.

One last thing about the Shiva fight, the fact that it has relatively few hard wipe mechanics, is going to make it a lot easier to, "gear," or "echo," through, than many of the previous Extreme primals. Mainly because, as DPS goes up, the fights going to get a lot shorter. So there'll be fewer weapon swap phases, and Shiva will have fewer damage stacks by the end, etc etc etc.

I actually rather like that, I rather dislike fights where you actively have to hold down DPS, (See Ifrit,) or where the hard wipe mechanics are plentiful enough that better gear doesn't make the fights anymore forgiving. That doesn't mean gear can carry people, of course, but a shorter fight is going to be more forgiving than a longer one, (fewer opportunities to screw up.)

Well some guy passed by

Would you kill me if I told you the Lightning Axe actually looks a bit better?

Aaaaaaanyhow, one last thing, I forgot to mention. Shiva is the one fight, where Awareness is an actually useful Cool Down.

Shiva uses a move when she's using arrows, that nearly guarantee that she'll get 5 crits back to back. It hurts like a sonovagon, but Awareness nullifies the Crit effect, and makes those attacks far more survivable.

Credit goes to Punchi and the rest of the GAF party for that one.

With the fixed tracking in ACT, Ninja DPS appears to be on par with other DPS and not too far behind Monk. This should alleviate any fears of low or underwhelming DPS. Actual raid scenarios will differ and there is no accounting for player skill and experience, but the potential is there. Gondai and company really know what they are doing in regards to job balance. Don't worry Dragoons, your chance to shine will come in 3.0

How much does housing adjust with each re-evaluation? I decided I'm going to buy a house in the Goblet. The one I want is next to waterfall so it's priced high, and it re-evaluates in 3hrs. So if it saves me 100k, awesome.

Loving 2.4! Got my ninja to 10 finally (been busy and been taking my time on it and other things). Was heading to unlock Hullbreaker Isle and got my first ever Atma from a random FATE. Love the new drop rate!

Can't wait to do Hildibrand's latest quest!

Hope so, while I'm planning to move to a different DPS class, I really hate the idea of giving up on any class. Biggest issue with the class, aside from its poor magic defense making AoE's an object of abject terror, is that it's rotation is especially unforgiving.

I'm still learning Monk, but at a glance, it looks like you can mess up a part of your rotation, but immediately get back on track while losing only a small portion of your DPS output. With Dragoons, it feels like you have to nail your rotation perfectly, every time, or your DPS plummets. This is understandable to some degree of course, you don't want to make it too easy for a player to wring 100% out of their class and gear, but I wouldn't think you'd want to make it too difficult to wring 80 to 90% out of their class either. <_<;;

Combine that with poor DRG itemization for 2.2 and 2.3, and their crappy magic defense, and its no wonder they have the reputation that they do.

To clarify the term Crappy itemization: Both Crit and Skillspeed are crap in comparison with determination. SCoB gear was mostly loaded with Crit, Soldiery gear was mostly loaded with Skillspeed. DRG's had very very little access to Determination gear at ilvl110, during patches 2.2 and 2.4

Yea, i was pretty let down by the fishing stuff they added too. So many fish with literally no use other than filling up a slot in your log and inventory already, and they add 20-30 more that are even harder to catch with the same problem or worse. Just don't get it.

It's like they went backwards from 2.3--pre-desynth fishing was mostly for gotta-catch-em-all collecters; then they added in the vanity stuff which gave fishing a (n albeit superficial) purpose beyond just for itself, and which actually scaled pretty nicely. If you were geared enough for silver sovs, you were geared enough for the blue swimwear set. More gathering increased the range of what you could catch, with max gathering letting you at the frilled shark stuff. No brick wall, nice ramp-up, you could actually fund your melds/accessories as you went. But apparently they didn't like the pricing on the vanity clothes so they responded by... making fishing ridiculously expensive and giving it no useful output. The new title quest is vague and apparently requires substantially more gathering than I have, there's no indicator that the new stuff desynths into anything good, it's just.. meh. They added a couple of recipes that use fish, but nothing really compelling.

Mining and botany don't have the RNG desynth lottery that fishing got, but they're actually useful so it's okay.

Ew, why the Goblet?

The houses don't seem to be in a ton of demand on our server, so unless you are trying to buy one of the really popular lots in Lavender Beds or The Mist, you can probably wait the full month for the price to drop to 50% and get the best possible deal.

Skilled enough player?

It requires 0 skill. You just have someone jump out shortly before Typhon does his giant AoE that causes a party to ring out. This way the person gets pre-stunned and it wears off. Then he jumps back in after Typhon's move and you keep going.

It requires a bit more than zero skill...

My understanding is that when you see Typhon casting his knockback ability, you jump out of bounds and incur the stun penalty, but it wears off before the cast is done. You then jump back on to the platform right as the cast bar vanishes. When you get back on the paltform, you will then still get knocked back (usually into the pit), but since there's a very small reset window on that battle's stun, you're free to move without incurring the stun debuff again. You then have to jump back out again quickly before everyone else touches the ground, otherwise it still counts as a wipe. There have been times I was in mid-jump when everyone got knocked out of bounds, and then I still landed on the platform and could run around, but shortly after we still reset. So it only works if I make it cleanly back onto the platform after Typhon's knockback and before everyone is touching the ground in the pit. Some people were saying that Ninja skill and Tank's no-push-back can cheese it, too.

Yes, it's a joke of a battle. However, pugs are terrible at it sometimes, so this trick allows us to bypass the extra 2-3 attempts minimum it will take to get through a long fight that seems to stump people who can't deal with any sort of mechanics. And after now 50+ runs with no minion, I'm tired of dealing with it. I just want the minion so I can move on.

Holmgang didn't seem to prevent that particular knock-back.

Alternative theory is you caused a pregnant fish to blow up I guess.

Holmgang nor Tempered Will stop that one.
The window of unstun isn't terribly long, that's true, but so long as you're in the air it seems to work fine. The Ring Out mechanic seems super wonky tbh, I've had seemingly everyone ring-out'd and we still made it. We've also had someone step back in the ring and lost as well though. I'd chalk it up to lag I guess.

Half of fishing in this game is mooching. A frilled shark has a fish in it that ate a fish that ate a fish.

Just usually they all blow up together. Which is fine because I don't need more garbage fish.

Or you could just, do the fight properly, take most of the uncertainty out of things.

I don't see why it bothers people, the vast majority of the runs I was doing to farm the ultros pet were done normally. In the off chance you fuck up and miss a kappa buff, shit it's a contingency plan. The hop out isn't foolproof as others have mentioned, so it's not like it's a surefire deal anyhow. Beats having a wipe on an easy fight.

Also Culinarian desynth never made sense to me.

Yea, it's pretty buggy, and given the nature of the fight (it's side-story), I doubt SE will do anything to address it. I think people will find that type of wonky mechanic can add to the fun. I'm just so annoyed at how bad the RNG has treated me with the rolls. First I couldn't roll above a 50, then 5 times in a row I was second highest roll.

Just need to get a GAF farm party going sometime. Eight runs, everyone has their minions, done.

Ran ultros 19 times this week so far for my groups. 19 fucking times and I was last to win. RNG is suffering

I offered up 100K to each member to run it once with me and pass on the roll. At 4am PDT, though. Ahnika was nice enough to join and didn't want the GIL, but after like 10 mins of nobody biting on the PF my spirit was crushed and I quit and went to bed.

It's philo, you could have gotten good. Some of us were still gud. YoshiP took all that away from us in 2.4.
