To be fair, your city has been destroyed and there's literally nothing you can do except slowly gain power.
It's the joyful demeanor that makes it seem weird. They could have easily prolonged the events to make it feel suitable.

Just got a totally optional scene by staying at a hotel with Prompto that really fleshed out his character. It was really touching and well performed.
Why is this shit hidden and optional? It's so good yet so obscure to find.
I was trying to go in through the exit. When I played, there was just an open trail that led to his location and we followed/stalked him around a bit before actually going into his lair. Are you sure you're not trying to get in from the exit/shortcut? I don't remember monsters showing up and attacking me until I really made my way in. Hm.
I really love how the game presents and details the friendship between the four. Snapshots, camping, traveling banter, even the auto car journies. I'm really invested in the group in a way I havn't been with FF characters since X.
I think they should have made the first part of the game in the open world completely free from the "main" story. Perhaps had the four visit another continent, hundreds of miles away, ditch the arranged marriage part and just have it as four friends traveling.
Perhaps have them become caught in a plot that somehow preludes to the attack without them knowing.
Then at a certain point have the attack on their home town happen and the story become more focused on that.
Right now I'm joyfully running around the world fetching, snapping, fishing, eating, battling... all while my home city is in ruins and my father's murdered corpse has barely grown cold.
It's a little off-putting.
I didn't understand why Noct was acting like a total ass to his father at the beginning after watching Kingsglaive. How does he not treat this with high import? They just conceded their lands to the empire and basically lost a war. But he still acts like an ass to his father and doesn't take his political duties as seriously.
Also how did the party, especially Ignus not? The guy is chancellor to the Empire but no one knows who he is in a random seaport in a place that is formerly under Lucian rule. It makes no sense. On Kingsglaive, he's even on tv right next to the Emperor. But they don't recognize him? What the fuck.recognize Ardyn on sight?
I have been wondering. Is there any recipe or food item that will help you gain more AP or EXP for the limited time? I have not read/seen anything but I am assuming something must exist.
Chapter 13 spoilers:
I'm starting to get pissed off, how long is this damn chapter? Currently I have to get the power on for the second time.
It is random from what I can tell. Sometimes it takes him a lot of days in-game and then one day when we wake up, Noctis gets a call from him to pick up the weapon.
He does that only the first time, I think.
EXP, yes. At least one so far that gives +20%.

Thank you!
That said, this is actually not the behemoth quest. It's the one right before it.
I'd really like to get a more firm grasp on the combat itself, rather than skirting by the skin of my teeth.
One of the best looking games is a bit much. Some parts definitely look amazing, but visually, the entire experience is very inconsistent.
I can be gazing in wonder at the beautiful landscapes and fluid character animations, but at the the next moment I can also be looking at completely emotionless facial expressions and low res textures from 2008.
Am I overpowered for just beating Chapter 2?
Yea, lots of inconsistencies. I touched on the first Noctis meeting with his father a few pages ago. I hated that interaction and it made no logical sense given the current social climate(watching Kingsglaive). Immediately turned me right the fuck off of Noctis as a character and a protagonist worth giving any investment for.
Some have come out and defended his "hero's journey" as feeling genuine and heartfelt by the end of the game. I'd counter that it needs not be so illogically polarizing to reach that conclusion. He just comes across as not being at all cognizant to the state of the realm and the shit his father is going through amidst impending defeat. Kingsglaive made it clear that the entire realm is thinking we are all fucked, treaty or not. You'd think Noctis wouldn't brush the dour state of his future kingdom aside so brazenly. It just makes absolutely no sense even if he is the most spoiled piece of shit.
I suppose those that have not seen Kingsglaive wouldn't find the exchange at all problematic at that point.
the rest of the world looks like an empty PS3 game.

It's one of the first dungeons in the game (the first if you discount the intro tomb with Cor). Regardless, I will spoiler tag it.Are we supposed to put spoiler tags when putting pictures of later dungeons and stuff? Just got a dungeon spoiled for me above![]()

Just finished watching Kingsglaive and enjoyed it more than I thought I would, perfect timing because my the game just arrived from amazon, time to dive in (well after the 9gb patch). So hyped!
Far too long. Good luck.Chapter 13 spoilers:

You didn't miss anything. I had the same reaction as you. Keep playing.Okay I have a question regarding chapter 13:
I'm at the part where I just went up an elevator that had a room in the middle with like a throne in it. I hit the switch to make the elevator go before trying to go into the room. The room is now locked and after a big fight, I'm supposed to go forward (away from the elevator). I can tell there is a couple of items in there, but I can't get in. Did I miss my opportunity? Was it open before I made the elevator go up? Or am I gonna circle back here? Lastly, if I did miss it, what was in the room?
One of the features I'm loving the most is Prompto's photographs, making a chronicle of my trip automatically.
Whoever thought of this idea is a genius. It ALWAYS cracks me up seeing Prompto taking selfies with that goofy smile of his.
I played XV first then about five hours in then watched Kingsglaive. I remember watching it and thinking "wow Noctis is a dick! And stupid too!" I'm thinking Noct is naive or something now becauseJust comes off badly. This is why you shouldn't separate your media to tell one story.he thought things would be ok when his father saw him off when he talked to Cor in the tomb.
What hotel?
I have 5 hours in so far, and I've barely made any actual story progress. No way this is under a 40 hour game at least for me.
Try holding attack against bandersnatch and tell me how it goes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )

Why do people act like everyone enjoys mmo sidequests and walking across empty terrain.Do people just rush the fuck through games? I don't really get it.
I will say up front that as I predicted, I'm not really a fan of the world. It does its job, and I have yet to see everything, but the "fantasy based on reality" concept I think has sucked away some of the visual creativity of the series, and where they made a huge open world it's easier to just have bland looking things. This also happened with MGSV, though I'm into this a lot more than that.
Some parts of it look okay, and I think the dungeons will add more spice to it. Hopefully my opinion on that changes the more I play, but I don't really look forward to Final Fantasy to explore deserts and gas stations. Otherwise the game is really great so far.

I'm really loving it so far. Only on chapter 2. But this world so far just is so...bland. Like it's just some drab boring landscape. Kind of bumming me out, but I'm still having a blast.
What level are you?
My HP is only like 600 iirc at level 18
