I'm 9 hours in and on Chapter 6 already.

I don't feel like I'm rushing, but I don't really ever do sidequests in games because I don't find them fun or compelling. I'm almost always chasing the story because it compels me.

I'm usually like you. But this game's combat system is so fucking good, that I'm even enjoying doing hunts and other stuff.

I'm confused about the empty space complaints. It's an open world game, like what do you expect? What do you guys want or need? I've never played an open world game without empty space. Do you want more collectibles like AC or what? Genuinely asking not trying to be a dick.

Also does anyone know how to do the Jump with the lance? Sometimes I get it other times I get the multi stab move.

The hunts for sure are good. I'm going to take a break in a bit to do some more of those, just had some main story threads I wanted resolved first. I think I'm at a good place now to go explore and earn some money :)

Quick question, kind of afraid of spoilers so I don't want to look this up somewhere, but I was curious about the ideal story order for this game. I know the suggested order is watch Brotherhood -> watch Kingsglaive -> play XV, but where does the demo fit in? I have the demo but haven't played it, does it have any story relevance? Or is it just a vertical slice that is also in the main game, so I can safely skip it?

Basically just asking if I should play Duscae if I have it before playing the main game to get the most from the story.

There's nothing major that HAS to be done before beating the game right? I can just go ahead and beat it and then worry about all the hunts and sidequests and getting all the Armiger swords and whatnot in the post game?

Do people just rush the fuck through games? I don't really get it.

I'm 20 hours in and at chapter 14. That was with going around doing a good amount of sidequest, collecting items here and there and
purposely stalling on chapter 6 Doing sidequest so I can have iris in my party. Also fished for like an hour getting a cat some food.
It doesn't really feel like I'm rushing at all.

I wish that next patch will include freely customizable controls

I still occasionally hold down on R1 thinking it's the phase button lol..

My game has crashed 5 or 6 times in the two days I have been playing it. Anyone else having the same problem?

Playing on the OG PS4.

I've been doing sidequest for hours in Chapter 3. I'm level 20 now, I think it's time I move on to the next story mission, but I'm afraid that I will ruin the game if I don't take enough time between story missions. I don't want to complete the game in 20 hours and then regret it

I FINALLY GOT MY COPY OF FFXV DELUXE EDITION!! *cue gospel music*

SE support still dicking me around on the Amazon Road Trip DLC codes though. I'm pretty sure i'm not getting them. I don't care at this point, I got the damn game and Amazon CS actually took really good care of me with a $20 refund and a $20 courtesy credit. I'll take the Chocobo Gold car DLC and like it.

Empty spaces are fine, but compare it to Bethesda games or a GTA for example, you don't get to walk long stretches without something happening: whether it be loot, enemy encounter, quest, random dungeon, etc.

I think a lot of people expected that.

Some people see it as "nothing happens for x minutes, eh boring" like Conan, specially in an arid-like environment.

I'm fine with it but I understand the complaint.

So how come the ability to manually drive the Regalia has been grayed out for me after the very first time Ignis let me drive?

There's post-game stuff?

Lots of post game stuff apparently. A few dungeons that can't be accessed untilpost game as well.

The game lets you try it once and then locks it until Chapter 3 (I think). Not sure why they do that honestly but at the end of 2/beginning of 3 you get a message that you're allowed to drive whenever you want now.

I'm like 5 hours in on chapter 3 and not even doing all sidequests/hunts, maybe I'm fucking slow or the game just becomes quick after this lol.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

I think more engaging distractions. It's not so much the lack of space-filling content, its the execution. The starting zone is a bit dull, lifeless, and the activities you are given(optionally) are just as staid.

This is a fantasy world, yet first impression feels a bit limp as even some impressive vistas or architectural relics would have gone a long way to distract from the tedium of waiting for our stamina bars to refill while wandering through deserted farmland and weeds.

Chapter 5 20 hours in( I haven't slept much sue me), lvl 29. Probably used it 100 times but god I love how magic looks in this game. Hoping ff7 remake looks similar visually. Cuz so far I'm not feeling the magic in kingdom hearts 3(visually that is)

7:23AM here, played all night xD.

For those level 25+, what's your Ascension spending looking like? Combat and Teamwork feels the most rewarding (What I've invested in), but so vanilla.

Anyone investing heavily into magic? I really wish they'd remove the cast limitations, so magic was a more viable permanent gameplay style.

Don't get me wrong, I agree, but I dunno. I've played games with way more boring worlds than this (and I'm only in Liede). Could they have included structures that characters comment on? Yes. But just for me, I've enjoyed Liede so far.

I do wish the game had more vertical exploration. That giant ass rock in the middle of the desert? Wish we could climb that and look out in the distance (although with the horrible low textures and blueriness of the trees and mountain tops in the distance, that may be for the best).

There are some later chapters that become shorter, to the point where the trophy for finishing it popped up and I said " wait that was the whole thing?" But
chapter 13
more than makes up for them.

There's post-game stuff?

All those sidequests that you dont do during your first playthrough are there. You can miss dungeons, the flying regalia, ultima weapons, hunts that unlock after a certain rank, etc. Plus i want to complete that Ascension grid. During my first playthrough i just did a few quests here and there and moved on with the story.

What'd you think of Deadeye quest?

It was great! It's too bad it's one of maybe 5 side quests out of hundreds (?) that doesn't entirely consist of "We need Item X, go to Place Y" and that I already knew it from the demo.

I'm now at Chapter 6 and I just started skipping all of the side content because it's just an endless grind without payoff. Coming off of Witcher 3 wih its amazingly realized world full of items, equipment and stories to find and countless narrative-driven side quests, this soulless collection of utterly boring fetch quests just seems just bizarre.

Agreed about magic. It's a pain to keep stocked of spells (too much menu stuff). I'd rather just learn the spells for good and not have a number of uses. I also hate how they take up a weapon slot. They should have done like Kingdom Hearts and let you hold down a button to access more spells. I rarely ever have magic equipped right now and that's kinda sad bc I love magic in most games.

Speaking of the flying car,
does it allow access to previously inaccessible places like they said at one point?

Your first sentence is "all those side quests you don't do are there". The other sentence you say things are missable.

?

Anyway to tell which treasures are sellable and which are needed for quests? I think even the metal scrap said could be sold for a bit of gil even though it was needed for a quest. I might just keep 1 of everything just to be safe, and RIP if I need more than 1 lol
