Just got around to getting into this game. I'm at the start of Chapter Three and I have a few notes:
- Chapter 1 really DID feel like you were running across a barren landscape. I treaded out into the deserts around Leide in search for monsters and only encountered the ones that were part of certain hunts. I basically ran and ran and didn't encounter any Sabertusk or Reapertail. That changed later, though.
- I encountered two glitches. While at Galdin Quay, I managed to get stuck halfway into the inn room after talking to the guy in front of it. I had to load from a previous save to get out of it. Another glitch was visible through Prompto's pictures. After camping, we looked through the day's photos and one had all the grass clumps floating in the sky.
- Battles started off worse than in Duscae(maybe cause we were all low level), but after leveling up and gaining new skills, they've become damn fun.
- Camera is still ass at times.
- The graphics teeter between good(serviceable) and urgh(some look PS2-worthy). The reflection effect at Galdin Quay, given the day and way you are facing the sea, can make things look trippy.
- Coming out of the second tomb, we were told to return to the hunter's camp and I all of a sudden heard this noise that sounded like women and children screaming. There was a massacre going on... maybe the Niff forces were slaughtering innocents.... nah, a giant Coeurl jumped down and started attacking my party. Fuck no, I ran the fuck out of there!! That shit's animal call is the stuff of nightmares.
- The interaction among the bros and the NPCs is pretty cool. I also find it funny that a lot of the NPCs that are somewhat important to your story were given surnames.
A bestiary would've been great. You don't really get to admire the models whilst fighting. For example I noticed from one of Prompto's photos that a monster had faces on its legs lol
Didn't they say they were going to include one? Man, that sucks.
