I finished the game yesterday! :)
A strange game with high highs but also some low lows, like it's troubled development I guess. I absolutely loathed one of the later chapters
(13)
and I thought the story was over big parts an absolute mess...but I also loved the open world part and the ending is one of the most heart wrenching ones I experienced in any Final Fantasy, even among all video games in the past years that I have played. So bitter sweet. I actually teared up several times.
I'll have to let the game sink in for a while...

The journey to the ending is severely rushed but oh boy, it sure delivers with it.

I think this tops FFX as my personal favorite ending in the series.

I guess I really have to agree with you here. This ending...wow.

Two questions, fam.

- What is really the
last point in the game before it gets linear? I know you can go back, but I'd like to play in a way that didn't do this, so I'd like to know ahead of time

- What is the objective for the merchant who offers the quests On the Hunt for a Harvest, Wild about Onions, and Vegging Out for the mission right after the Vegging Out? I think I bugged the game as the quest after Vegging Out is no longer in my tab of active quests, but talking to him softlocks the game. My only assumption is he's looking for an item and a quantity of it that I'm missing, so I can try and farm it as a fix. Otherwise there better be more than 80 sidequests, as this will prevent me from getting the trophy. :/

I wish I wasn't partially spoiled on the ending. But question and please keep it to a yes or no.
endgame spoilers
Even if I know everyone is going to die
is it still going to hit me in the feels?

All these impressions about the ending make me feel better about myself

I couldn't wait for Amazon to restock the PS4 Pro, so I started playing my deluxe copy on my OG PS4.

This. Game. Is. So. Much. FUN!

Still on Ch. 1, knocking out every hunt, helping every stranded person in need of a potion or car repair kit, etc.

Runs beautifully. Combat is addictive. Loving every second!

Entering the harbour beneath Cape Caim to get on the boat. They will warn you though.

It did for me and I had watched the ending before playing the game. Context really, really helps.

So..this
naga
boss keeps going on about
her baby
..do we actually get more insight about this later during the game, maybe in an optional dungeon (or possibly
going through the locked door at the end
)?

Ok good. I want to love this game even more, I WANT TO FEEL.
Oh god I'm so excited for this game, even for chapter 13 but I don't want to rush through it.
The struggle.

The last camp scene took me down. Just the way that Noctis' actor delivered his lines. The bro's responses were kinda weird and inauthentic but the scene was about Noctis anyway so it didn't bother me too much.

I think this is the only moment in the game when he cried. I don't remember his tears when Luna died.

Some of these monsters in the hunts are no joke, even when I'm a handful of levels above the recommendation.

I'm way over-leveled for the main story, though. Hoarded close to 25k of xp and stayed at the hotel that gives the 2x xp boost. Now level 29 and just started Chapter 3.
Levels are not everything. Those hunts are hard cause you're using equipment from the beginning of the game so you're stats are still kinda shitty. You're level is 29 likely using equipment of level 15.

None that were visible, at least. But there's nothing like realizing you're marching to your death with people you love by your side to bring on the waterworks.

I went through the main quest without seeing Game Over once.

Post game though?
I've seen it a few times. Mostly because I keep crashing the Regalia F-Type.

The hunt system is so needlessly awfull, everything about it makes the experience of hunting painful.i can understand what they are going for, but it's seriously just making the game a slog full of loading screens, going round checking if a new hunts unlocked , trying to find a good one to do, grinding some HR that doesn't actually exist for a good reason .

Had a real hard time getting into this game for the first few hours. Something definitely clicked tonight with the combat and the format of the open world. Had a good five hour session and couldn't put it down!

It would have worked better if we could take multiple hunts like we do with quests.

I've beaten the main story and this was never answered, can anyone else confirm if it's resolved in an optional quest?

Love this game, but every time I can't fast travel and have to watch my car crawl over the map for 10 mins I want to kill myself.

Platinum in this game seems to be easy. Except for 4 trophies which requires you to level up the skills to max level...those are grindy as fuck.

Those along with defeating Admantoise are the only trophies remaining. I don't have many platinums in games because I can never bring myself to go through grindy trophies.

Yeah this game is missing a ton of obvious QoL improvements. They should let you accept as many hunts as you want, and let you turn them in at any location. I kind of wish we didn't have to turn quests in at all, like the way Xenoblade does it.

Finally on Chapter 2, stopped on my way to Cor. I'm still loving it. Killed my first Iron Giant, haha. Had to unleash Noctis' Linkin Park feelings on something after getting the news at the end of Chapter 1.

I want to explore that place with the destroyed tanks, but I'll meet with Cor first.

How do I unlock more magic flasks? Is it in the ascension grid or do I buy/find them? Only have two.

Basically, Prompto is my wife. He wants to talk constantly when I'm trying to focus on brooding, he needs emotional support for every feeling he has, he wants me to tell him how great his pictures are even though I don't give a shit, and he nags me to stop at every goddamn photo opportunity when I'm just trying to fucking get to my ultimate destination sometime today.

Edit: This is my wife, not all spouses (man or woman) in general. Please don't destroy me.
Oh my god your wife is my girlfriend. I am not even kidding. When we are in the car on a holiday i have to pull over every goddamned yard for pictures.

I wish I discovered the 3x experience suite earlier.

Except for a large chunk of chapter 13 you never actually "leave it behind" since you can always go back to it via Umbra. But story wise it's the end of Chapter 10 as everything else following is not open world.

Thanks, kinda just want the whole map open as much as possible

What is the GAF consensus on XV? As good as XII or trash like X and XIII?
This is a bait ridden post.

I liked X and I like XV, for what it's worth. I also didn't like the second 2/3rds of XII.

There will be a point later on where you wish you had taken more and better pictures.

XII had the best gameplay in the series IMO while the story kind of fell apart around the middle. Hated everything about X and XIII. How is the gameplay/combat in XV compared to X, XII and XIII? I played that Platinum demo or w/e it was called, the one with Noctis' dream, and it left me unconvinced.

Easy but a complete waste of time-- those last 4 take more time than anything else. You could restart and get to the credits roll first.
It's because survival crawls when it moves. Fishing is braindead easy, 4hr, photos will almost be full naturally, and cooking takes less than 30m to max.

Hmm, Ignis doesn't seem to be cooking meals anymore whenever we bunk somewhere overnight. Do only certain things trigger that?
