Not sure what to think about this game yet.

First impressions are it doesn't look great and runs even worse, the combat hasn't clicked with me yet (would prefer turn based) and the characters are annoying.
I'm at chapter 10 and I still have no idea what to make of it.

I'm still not really sure what to think of the combat. It's definitely flashy but I'm about 6 hours in and it still never really feels like you're in control of the flow of the battles

It's rather unfortunate that we can't drive away or around spawning enemies while in the Regalia. It's also too bad that the recliner always opens up when entering the car. Hopefully a patch will let us have the closed roof by default.

Also what is the easiest way to earn Gil? I'm afraid to sell my stuff.
Sell your treasure. I'd go to the elemancy tab first though to see what items modify your spells though, and keep some of the ones you like (Quad/Quint-cast, Deathcast, more spell uses, etc).

That's the movie "Kingsglaive" you want, you can rent it from streaming services. The movie is about that exact event.

In the menu I think it's called "Elemancy", you select a slot, add magic to it, choose the "Craft" button, and then equip it to an action slot.
That's a huge disappointment. So they didn't show the event in the game in more detail so they can sell us the movie to see it first. Why SE, when you hurt the impact of the damn story? It makes sense now why the main gripe so far with the game is the way it is.

I didn't see a craft button anywhere, but I will look.

Trying to grind out some Duplicorns for the Helixhorn drop. Has anyone found a better way to get this item to drop yet?
There's a camping food item (Mother and Son Dish, or something like that - you get it by walking by a mom eating at a bench near the Lestallum parking lot) that gives a +50% item drop rate.

Oh nice, thanks! Will try this.

Wish there was a camping spot super close to the hunting area though.

If you're interested, check my post history. I've written a few explanations based on what I've learnt and the combat is very fluid for me. I rarely feel like I lose control (camera aside).

Also there's a particular Youtuber with some great guides. I'll see if I can fish the channel out for you.

I think the 10,000 gil is worth more at that level to buy items and gear. Far better to spend 300 Gil to get 1.5x the exp st other places.

Edit: Just to give you an idea, people have been using a 30,000 Gil, 3x multiplier on 500,000 exp to get 1.5 million exp later in the game. So 4000 exp really isn't much :)

Make sure to grab the Ascention mode that increases tech bar when Noctis attacks. You can pretty much spam lvl2 techs with it (Regroup) 4eva!

And this early on you'll have much better use for 10k than a 2x bonus on 4K XP. Wait till you feel like farming around 20k or more before you bother with the premium hotels imo.
Alright thanks for this. I already have the perk that increases my tech bar. I'll go for more tech bar upgrades. I don't get how Ignis' Analyze works though, because I don't see where I'm supposed to see their weaknesses?

You can close/open the roof manually by holding r3.

Sell treasure. Just be sure to save 1-2 of each item for crafting spells/weapon upgrades.

Also: hunts.

Yes, I know I can open it with R3 but the roof automatically opens up whenever you enter the car. I hope they change that with a patch.

Hmm okay, I'll sell my treasures. :)

How much time should I be spending doing hunts etc. v.s. the main story path?

I just started the game last night, combat is really fun but just curious if I should stick around and do all the hunts in an outpost or just move on with the story ASAP.

I have the "Analyze"-perk. So where do I find those informations now?

When you lock on to an enemy after you see the perk activate, it should show a display in the top left corner of the screen.

Wish it had better descriptors though. The color coded icons don't really tell you all that much if you don't know what they mean. Took me a bit but after looking it up online I finally figured out what it was showing.

Use wait mode. It has made the combat much more enjoyable for me.

Am I doing this right? I'm level 17 on chapter 2, just reached the part with the chocobos. About 13 hours put into the game. All the side quests and exploring have taken precedence over the main quests.

Do keep a couple of each though, even if they aren't useful for spells. You never know when a quest giver will need something.

An eyesore!? She's hot AF! Don't talk about my Cindy like that lol.

Even as shameless eye candy she fails for me, her ass is an unnatural shape.

Not that I was particularly looking for them but I can't noticing none of the bros seem to even have ass cheeks..

Ok, I'm now in chapter 6 and I still don't know what the fuck I am doing. The story is absent and you only get some bits presented that don't make any sense, even with the movie. But that's not that surprising, because the movie was really bad.

Gameplaywise I'm really disappointed. The sidequests are really boring and it's either a hunt or some quest where you have to get something for a person. Guys, you are the prince of a fallen empire and people want you to catch red frogs for you! Also the presentation...Some major event happens in the beginning that should really disturb Noctis and the atmosphere is immediately destroyed. Because you could also go chocobo riding or maybe do some fishing or just make some selfies. It's not like some died a couple of minutes ago. The chocobo music is also annoying me...It was fun at first but now it's just destroying the atmosphere most of the time.

The combat is also chaotic at it's best. In dungeons you lose every bit of control and it's just luck what happens. But it's not much better in the normal world. The camera is just bad, the lock on is not as good as it could be and I prefer the KH combat system much more.

But at least I got two nice fights. They weren't really hard, but at least nice to watch. But besides that...I can't think of anything positive right now. It's not a really bad game, but not a good one. The open world is hurting this game more than it helps. And the sad thing is that I was really hyped for the game once it was announced, but the wait wasn't worth it.

Just did the Behemoth fight, wow that whole quest was great. Ended up having to fight him at night and as I tracked him and the sun was setting I was nervous for how the darkness would affect things.

Also the music that plays there is incredible. What's the title?

Dammit, I ended the Chapter and didn't get any exp bonuses, I wish I could see if a main quest was the last one in a chapter.

I am now at Chapter 3 at lvl 15. How's that?

Use wait mode. It has made the combat much more enjoyable for me.
Yeah, I haven't even started using wait mode yet. I'll get around to it eventually.

I have finally beaten the behemoth!! It was pretty easy this time. I got some new weapons, drew more fire and had a good sandwich. Thanks everyone who gave me advice.

Gladiolus in particular is modeled strangely, it's like they knew they needed to give his legs some mass to fit with the body shape, but couldn't bring themselves to model much of a discernible butt outline, despite the skintight leather. The way the mesh warps is really offputting in the opening with the amount of focus placed on it; it's like an ass-specific manifestation of the uncanny valley.

At least with Cidney and the rest of the party, they're thin enough for the flatness to be justified.

It's funny how when you fight Behemoth it's this huge production and then
when you hunt the other one down for Ramen meat it takes like 2 minutes to beat him lol.

Boss music? Pretty sure it's Omnis Lacrima.

"Hey Noctis, any preference on who I should photograph more?"

"Yes, I'd like to see more of myself"

"Sure thing"

*just takes a bunch of selfies anyway*

Definitely do not do all of the side quests/hunts you encounter. I'd do a few of those, but generally focus on the main story.

How do you activate Armiger without constantly opening the Tech menu instead? Incredibly annoying to be trying to activate this thing but instead repeatedly opening and closing some menu.

Sure you weren't looking at them haha.

Yeah I don't get all the hate on Cindy. Yeah sure she is overly sexualized. So what? This is a game where the main cast are attractive males, and Prompto is always taking pictures of Gladdy's ass.

Gotta wait for the L1 and R1 icons to appear and press it then. I admit it is clunky.

I keep dying all the time in relatively easy fights :/ Haven't gotten the hang of the fighting yet I'm guessing. I was just fighting one of those
Ronin fellas in the frozen cave
that were lvl 19 and I am a lvl 24. Hmh. Had to keep using potions like crazy.
